Ionic liquids are considered as a promising, alternative solvent for the electrochemical synthesis of metals because of their high thermal and chemical stability, relatively high ionic conductivity, and wide electrochemical window. In particular, their wide electrochemical window enables the electrodeposition of metals without any side reaction of electrolytes such as hydrogen evolution. The electrodeposition of silver is conducted in 1-n-butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride ([C4mim]Cl) ionic liquid system with a silver source of AgCl. This study is the first attempt to electrodeposit silver nanoparticles without using co-solvents other than [C4mim]Cl. Pulse electrolysis is employed for the synthesis of silver nanoparticles by varying applied potentials from -3.0 V to -4.5 V (vs. Pt-quasi reference electrode) and pulse duration from 0.1 s to 0.7 s. Accordingly, the silver nanoparticles whose size ranges from 15 nm to ~100 nm are obtained. The successful preparation of silver nanoparticles is demonstrated regardless of the kinds of substrate including aluminum, stainless steel, and carbon paper in the pulse electrolysis. Finally, the antimicrobial property of electrodeposited silver nanoparticles is confirmed by an antimicrobial test using Staphylococcus aureus.

Domestic ports are becoming increasingly complex due to the introduction of various marine 4th industry new technologies and the increase in marine logistics. Accordingly, the number of lightings behind the port is also increasing significantly, and there is a great demand for improving the visibility of the AtoN used as a means of transmitting information to vessel operators. This paper describes the development of the performance inspection system that can verify the synchronization and sequential flashing of maritime lanterns that is being introduced to enhance the visibility of AtoN.

Objective: This study aimed to compare the mean pulse rate (PR) and mean blood pressure (BP) between patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and those with simple snoring (SS) during a 24-hour period, and to investigate the correlation between apnea-hypopnea index (AHI), PR, and BP in sleep-related breathing disorder (SRBD) patients with and without hypertension, diabetes mellitus (DM), and cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). Methods: Ninety SRBD patients underwent full-night polysomnography, and ambulatory BP and PR were monitored for 24 hours. Participants were classified into OSA (AHI ≥ 5) and control (SS) (AHI < 5) groups, and BP and PR were compared. Participants were also divided into groups with and without hypertension, CVDs, or DM to analyze the correlation between AHI, BP, and PR in each group. Results: Mean PRs during the daytime period and during the whole 24-hour period in the OSA group were significantly higher than those in the SS group after controlling for potential confounders. No significant difference was observed in mean BP between the groups. Partial correlation analysis after controlling for confounders showed significant correlation between AHI and PR during daytime and the 24-hour period in participants without hypertension, DM, or CVDs, but not in participants with these conditions. Conclusion: The significant differences and correlations only in PR (not in BP) found in this study suggest that PR could be an early marker for SRBD in individuals without comorbidities, and that an increased sympathetic tone could be responsible for future occurrence of CVD.

Background: Bisphenol A (BPA), known as an endocrine disruptor, is widely used in the world. BPA isreported to cause inflammation-related diseases. Korean Red Ginseng (KRG) has been used safely inhuman for a long time for the treatment of diverse diseases. KRG has been reported of its mitigatingeffect on menopausal symptoms and suppress adipose inflammation. Here, we investigate the protectiveeffect of orally administered KRG on the impacts of BPA in the liver and uterus of menopausal micemodel. Methods: The transcriptome analysis for the effects of BPA on mice liver was evaluated by GeneExpression Omnibus (GEO) databaseebased data (GSE26728). In vivo assay to evaluate the protectiveeffect of KRG on BPA impact in ovariectomized (OVX) mice were designed and analyzed by RNAsequencing. Results: We first demonstrated that BPA induced 12 kinds of gene set in the liver of normal mice. Theadministration of BPA and KRG did not change body, liver, and uterine weight in OVX mice. KRGdownregulated BPA-induced inflammatory response and chemotaxis-related gene expression. Severalgene set enrichment analysis (GSEA)ederived inflammatory response genes increased by BPA wereinhibited by KRG in OVX mice. Conclusion: Our data suggest that BPA has commonly influenced inflammatory response effects on bothnormal and OVX mice. KRG protects against BPA impact of inflammatory response and chemotaxis inOVX mouse models. Our comparative analysis will provide new insight into the efficacy of KRG onendocrine disrupting chemicals and OVX mouse.

본 논문에서는 5kW급 이상의 연료전지 PCS를 위한 3상 DC-DC 컨버터를 제안한다. 제안한 컨버터는 승압비가 매우 높고 듀티를 0에서 1까지 사용하므로 변압기등 주요 소자를 최적으로 설계할 수 있다. 또한 전류원이면서도 클램프 회로와 스타트-업 회로가 필요 없을 뿐만 아니라 넓은 부하영역에서 영전압 턴 온이 가능하다. 기존 3상 컨버터와의 비교 분석을 수행하였으며 실험을 통해 본 방식의 타당성을 검증하였다.

<P><B><I>Background:</I></B> The impact of the right atrial (RA) anatomical remodeling on outcomes of atrial fibrillation (AF) after radiofrequency ablation (RFA) is unclear. <B><I>Methods and Results:</I></B> Sixty-three patients (50 men, 57±10 years, 23 persistent AF [PeAF]) who underwent RFA for AF were enrolled. Both RA and left atrial (LA) volumes, measured with multidetector computed tomography, as well as echocardiographic parameters were compared between subjects with early (<3 months, n=13) or 1-year (n=19) recurrence after RFA and without recurrence. The RA volume index (RAVI) was larger (98±21 vs. 77±22ml/m<SUP>2</SUP>) and PeAF was more common (62% vs. 30%) in the early recurrence group (P<0.05 for all), whereas the LA volume index (LAVI) was similar between the 2 groups (78±15 vs. 72±19ml/m<SUP>2</SUP>, P=0.23). Notably, RAVI was the only independent predictor of early recurrence (for each 10ml/m<SUP>2</SUP> increase, OR: 1.650, 95%CI: 1.017-2.677, P=0.04). PeAF was the only independent predictor of 1-year recurrence after RFA (OR: 4.496, 95%CI: 1.110-18.211, P=0.04), whereas RAVI and LAVI were not. <B><I>Conclusions:</I></B> RA anatomical remodeling might affect the early recurrence of AF after RFA. However, the chronicity of AF, rather than RA and LA anatomical remodeling, is a determinant of 1-year recurrence of AF after RFA. (<I>Circ J</I> 2012; <B>76:</B> 860-867)</P>

In this paper, the real-time attitude determination based Matlab using low-cost receivers was designed and evaluated. The GNSS attitude determination system was implemented to operation in real-time by TimerCallback in MATLAB. The TTM(Transmission Time Misalignment) of U-blox receiver was confirmed through zero baseline tests and this problem was revised. The computed attitude by the high-cost NovAtel receiver was compared to the computed attitude by the low-cost U-blox receiver. As a result of this, the performance of attitude determination systems by low-cost receiver was confirmed. To determine baseline, LAMBDA and BC-LAMBDA for integer ambiguities search methods were used. To confirm suitable integer ambiguity search method in real-time attitude determination algorithm, determined baselines by two methods were compared, and it was confirmed that BC-LAMBDA is more suitable. As a result of this, the operation of real-time attitude determination system was confirmed using 3 low-cost receivers.

<P><B>Background and Objectives</B></P><P>The prognostic role of the right atrium (RA) compared with that of the left atrium (LA) is unclear in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF). We assessed structural changes in both atria and determined their association with recurrence of AF after radiofrequency catheter ablation (RFCA).</P><P><B>Subjects and Methods</B></P><P>All 111 patients with nonvalvular AF (87 men; mean age, 57±11 years; 68 with paroxysmal AF) who underwent RFCA were enrolled consecutively. Three-dimensional volumes of both atria measured from computed tomography images were compared between subjects with and without recurrence of AF during the follow-up.</P><P><B>Results</B></P><P>Early (<3 months), 6-month, and 1-year recurrence was documented in 26 (24%), 30 (27%), and 36 (32%) patients, respectively. Significantly larger RA and LA volume indices (RAVI and LAVI) were observed in the early, 6-month, and 1-year recurrence groups (p<0.05 for all). In multivariate analysis, Early recurrence was independently associated with RAVI (for each 10 mL/m2 increase; odds ratio [OR], 1.31; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.03-1.66, p= 0.03), but not with LAVI. However, both RAVI and LAVI failed to predict 6-month outcomes independently. LAVI was the only independent predictor of 1-year recurrence (for each 10 mL/m2 increase; OR, 1.36; 95% CI, 1.08-1.71, p=0.009).</P><P><B>Conclusion</B></P><P>RA enlargement was more closely related to early recurrence of AF after RFCA than LA size. However, LA size, rather than RA volume, was a determinant of long-term AF prognosis after RFCA. These findings suggest a temporal pattern in the prognostic implication of enlargement in each atrium that switches over time after RFCA for AF.</P>
