This study was carried out to investigate seed germination and seedling of cabbage and sugar beet in four treatments of salinity including 0 (control), 0.5, 1.0 and 1.5% NaCl. The results showed that different treatments of salinity had considerable effects on the germination and root and shoot length of cabbage and sugar beet. Percent of germination in both species showed significant decrease with increasing salinity up to 1.5% NaCl. This decrease was more evident in cabbage when compared to sugar beet. The required time for germination increased with high levels of salinity. The seedling growth of both species were inhibited by all salinity levels. Particularly at 1.0 and 1.5% NaCl, no measurable length was observed in cabbage and sugar beet. At 0.5% NaCl root growth of both plant species was more affected as compared to shoot growth by salinity.
Jeans-Alfvén instability in quantum dusty magnetoplasmas

<P>The Jeans instability is examined in quantum dusty magnetoplasmas due to low-frequency magnetosonic perturbations. The fluid model consisting of the momentum balance equation for quantum plasmas, Poisson’s equation for the gravitational potential and Maxwell’s equations for electromagnetic magnetosonic perturbations is solved. The numerical analysis elaborates the significant contribution of magnetic field, electron number density and variable dust mass to the Jeans instability.</P>

The current study is dedicated to design a novel coordinated controller to effectively increase power system rotorangle stability. In doing so, the coordinated design of an AVR (automatic voltage regulator), PSS2B, and TCSC (thyristorcontrolled series capacitor)-based POD (power oscillation damping) controller is proposed. Although the recentlyemployed coordination between a CPSS (conventional power system stabilizer) and a TCSC-based POD controller hasbeen shown to improve power system damping characteristics, neglecting the negative impact of existing high-gainAVR on the damping torque by considering its parameters as given values, may reduce the effectiveness of a CPSSPODcontroller. Thus, using a technologically viable stabilizer such as PSS2B rather than the CPSS in a coordinatedscheme with an AVR and POD controller can constitute a well-established design with a structure that as a highpotential to significantly improve the rotor angle stability. The design procedure is formulated as an optimizationproblem in which the ITSE (integral of time multiplied squared error) performance index as an objective function isminimized by employing an IPSO (improved particle swarm optimization) algorithm to tune adjustable parameters. The robustness of the coordinated designs is guaranteed by concurrently considering some operating conditionsin the optimization process. To evaluate the performance of the proposed controllers, eigenvalue analysis and timedomain simulations were performed for different operating points and perturbations simulated on 2A4M (two-areafour-machine) power systems in MATLAB/Simulink. The results reveal that surpassing improvement in damping ofoscillations is achieved in comparison with the CPSS-TCSC coordination.
Quarriable Knowledge Creation Framework from Unstructured Scientific Documents

Knowledge graphs (KGs) play a pivotal role in modern applications such as decision-making systems, question answering systems, and searching and retrieval systems. However, the automatic construction of a knowledge graph from unstructured text is a challenging task. Moreover, traditional dictionary-, rule-based and supervised machine learning approaches are not reasonably practical due to their dependency on human-expert annotated resources. It is especially true when a knowledge graph is generated from domain-specific information, updated frequently, such as COVID-19 related information resources. This paper uses a pre-trained embedding model (BERT) to create word vectors from COVID-19 research articles. The proposed model is employed at two levels: entity extraction from the text and querying the knowledge stored in KG.

In this paper, we propose an efficient macrodiversity handover (MDHO) technique for time-division-based interference-limited IEEE 802.16j multihop wireless relay networks. In the proposed MDHO, when the diversity set members of the mobile station (MS) are a base station (BS) and relay station (RS), the MS receives the signal transmitted by the BS in the first phase. During the second phase, it also receives the simultaneous transmissions of the BS and RS. Furthermore, when the diversity set members are two RSs or two BSs, the MS receives only the simultaneous transmissions of the diversity set members. The superiority of the proposed MDHO is validated using analytical and simulation results. The performance analysis metrics are the average downlink (DL) carrier to interference and noise ratio (CINR), the average DL spectral efficiency, and the average service outage probability. Evaluation results show that the proposed MDHO significantly outperforms the conventional MDHO. The CINR gain achieved using the proposed MDHO is 4.71 dB compared to the conventional MDHO.

Lead-free piezoelectric 0.97(Bi0.5Na0.5Ti1−xNbx)O3-0.03BaZrO3 (BNT-BZ3) ceramics (x = 0 0.03) were prepared by a conventional solid-state reaction method. X-ray diffraction patterns revealed the formation of single-phase perovskite structure with x 0.015. The depolarization temperature and the dielectric constant decreased with increasing Nb content. The remanent polarization (Pr) and the piezoelectric constant (d33) increased from 28 μC/cm2 and 98 pC/N for x = 0 to 31 μC/cm2 and 128 pC/N for x = 0.005, respectively. In addition, the electric field induced strain was enhanced with a maximum value Smax = 0.17% with a normalized piezoelectric coefficient of d 33 = 283 pm/V at an applied electric field of 6 kV/mm for x = 0.015.
