Prediction of thrapeutic response to radioiodine in Graves' disease is poorly understood. Although thyrotropin binding inhibitor immunoglobulin(TBII) level is a strong index for relapse after antithyroid drug medication, conflicting results are reported regarding its prognostic significance in Graves' disease treated with RAI. This study is dengned to evaluate possible relationship between post-treatment hypothyroidism and TBII in Graves' disease treated with RAI. Fourty two patient with Graves' disease after radioiodine treatment were studied retrospectively. The subject were divided into hypothyroid group and euthyroid or hyperthyroid group. We evaluated the association of hypothyroidism and TBII with radioiodine treatment dose. The mean age of hypothyroid group was 48±11 years and euthyroid or hyperthyroid group was 47±12 years. There was no difference in two groups. And there was no significant difference in post- treatment TBII between two groups(49.9±28.5%, 29.9±14.3%, p-value >0.05). The treatment-dose had no influence on post-treatment thyroid state. Euthyroid or hyperthyroid group was done with 13.6±6.9mCi and hypothyroid group was 17.0±10.4mCi(p-value > 0.05). TBII had no prognostic significance on long-term hypothyrodism in Graves' disease treated with radioiodine. And, treatment-dose had no influence on post-treatment thyroid state.

<B>ABSTRACT</B><P>We investigated the frequency and clinical significance of macrolide resistance in adult and pediatric patients with community-acquired pneumonia from aMycoplasma pneumoniaeinfection. The frequency of the A2063G mutation in the 23S rRNA gene was significantly higher in children than in adults (61.3% [19/31] and 13.3% [8/60], respectively;<I>P</I>< 0.001). Patients with macrolide-resistantM. pneumoniaeinfections showed a longer duration of fever (<I>P</I>= 0.021) and required a longer duration of antibiotic treatment (<I>P</I>= 0.007).</P>

Background: It has been reported that futhan(nafamostat mesylate) inhibited infi ammatory injury via inhibition of complementary activation in ischemic heart, liver and intestine. However, it has been little known that NM inhibits the apoptosis in ischemia-reperfusion (IR) injured kidney. We investigated whether NM attenuates IR renal injury and involves apoptosis inhibition. Methods: We used HK-2 cell and male C57BL/6 mice. C57Bl/6 mice were divided into four groups; Sham, Nafamostat mesylate(NM,2mg/kg)+Sham, IR injury( IR injury; reperfusion 27 minutes after clamping of both renal artery and vein), and NM+IR injury. Kidneys were harvested 24hr after IR injury. BUN and serum creatinine(s-Cr) were measured 24 hrs after IR injury. We performed real time RT-PCR and immunohistochemistry for molecular study and H&E stain and Masson trichrome (MT) stain for histologic examination. For in vitro study, HK-2 cell were divided as into three groups; Control, IR-HK-2(HK-2 cells were incubated for 6 hours with mineral paraffi n oil for ischemic injury) and IR-HK-2+NM(2nM) groups. Cell survival and the magnitude of apoptosis were evaluated. Results: BUN, serum creatinine level and renal tissue injury score in NM+IR injured mice were signifi cantly lower than those of control IR mice (all, p<0.01). NM treatment signifi cantly improved cell survival in ischemic HK-2 cells (p<0.01). Renal Bax protein and mRNA expression were signifi cantly increased in IR injured kidneys and ischemic HK-2 cells. NM treatment signifi cantly decreased renal Bax expression (p<0.05). Renal Bcl-2 protein and mRNA expression were significantly decreased in IR kidney and ischemic HK-2 cells compared to those of sham and control groups. NM treatment increased renal Bcl-2 expression in IR injured kidneys and ischemic HK-2 cells (p<0.05). TUNEL positive cells were signifi cantly lower in NM+IR injured kidneys, comparing to control IR injured mice (p<0.05). Conclusions: futhan attenuates ischemia-reperfusion renal injury via inhibition of apoptosis.

3-phase Induction machines are being used in industry and dq transformation from 3 phase of a, b, c is commonly used to analyze these machines. The equivalent circuits of d and q axis are however generally cross coupled and not simple to analyze. In this study, an analysis method of 3ph induction motor considering current regulator using dq transformation and matrix vector is proposed and it can explain the 3ph induction motor physically. This model does not need the separating process of d and q components. With this technique, the model becomes simple, is easy to understand in physical, and can get the same results with those from the other dq models. These simulation results of the proposed model are compared with those of other models for the conformation of the proposed method.

In present work, work-hardening behavior of TiCu-based bulk metallic glass composite with B2 particles has been studied by systemic structural and mechanical investigations. After yield, pronounced work-hardening of the alloy was clearly exhibited, which was mainly related to the martensitic transformation as well as the deformation twinning in B2 particles during deformation. At the early plastic deformation stage (work-hardening stage), the stress-induced martensitic transformation from B2 phase to B19' phase and deformation-induced twinning of B19' phase was preferentially occurred in the around interface areas between B2 phase and amorphous matrix by stress concentration. The higher hardness value was observed in vicinity of interface within the B2 particles which are probably connected with martensitic transformation and deformation twinning. This reveals that the work-hardening phenomenon of this bulk metallic glass composite is a result of the hardening of B2 particles embedded in amorphous matrix.
