This study investigates, first, whether the extent of corporate social and environmental responsibility disclosure (CSERD) differs between 2010 and 2014; second, whether government regulation affects the extent of CSERD; and, third, whether the CSERD is valued by investors. Content analysis method was used to extract 466 companies' annual reports to measure the extent of social and environmental responsibility disclosure based on the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) checklist. Independent sample t-test and multivariate regression analysis were also conducted to test the differences of the extent of CSERD as well as determinants and consequence of CSERD. Our results show that the extent of CSERD in 2014 is 21.60 percent higher than in 2010 (13.39 percent). Government regulation has a significant effect on the extent of CSERD. This study also finds that market values positively CSER information disclosed by company. Given that government regulation has a positive impact, however, the findings of this study suggests that the extent of CSERD is still low. To enhance CSERD, government should continuously encourage companies to abide by the regulations as mandated. This study provides a more comprehensive insights of CSRED practices from an emerging country and the effect of government regulation in enhancing CSERD.

This study aims to design a real-time system on STM32F4 to measure the density of liquid flow in construction building materials, which can be manually tested in laboratories or construction sites. The study provides an embedded system capable of sequentially and real-time measuring the velocity profile and pressure drop. Existing devices such as rheometers, which are expensive and require calibration, are used to measure fluid flows. However, this study presents a domestically developed device at a lower cost.

We report a 12-month-old female infant who had a history of neonatal sepsis with liver micro-abscesses that resolved with intravenous antibiotics during neonatal period. During her neonatal admission period, no umbilical vein catheter was inserted. Also, she did not undergo any abdominal surgeries or had a postnatal history of necrotizing enterocolitis. However, the child developed upper gastrointestinal bleeding in form of hematemesis and melena secondary to esophageal varices at the age of 12 months with an extra-hepatic portal vein obstruction with cavernous transformation and portal hypertension subsequently. The child underwent a successful endoscopic injection sclerotherapy. She is now 20-month-old and has portal hypertension but otherwise asymptomatic. We are proposing the possibility of a delayed-onset portal hypertension as a complication of liver abscess and neonatal sepsis.

The present study aimed to investigate the potential of Enterococcus faecalis (E. faecalis) and Bacillus cereus (B. cereus) in improving the properties of bio-concrete. E. faecalis and B. cereus strains were obtained from fresh urine and an acid mire water at cell concentration of 1.16×1012 and 1.3×1012 cells mL-1, respectively. The bacterial strains were inoculated in a liquid medium into the concrete with 1, 3 and 5% as replacement of water cement ratio (w/c). The ability of E. faecalis and B. cereus cells to accumulate the calcite and the decrement of pores size within bio-concrete was confirmed by SEM and EDX analysis. The results revealed that E. faecalis exhibited high efficiency for increasing of compressive and splitting tensile strength than B. cereus (23 vs. 14.2%, and 13 vs. 8.5%, respectively). These findings indicated that E. faecalis is more applicable in the bio-concrete due to its ability to enhance strength development and reduce water penetration.

6 -year old female admitted on 17-08-2013 with complaints of right ankle and foot pain for the last 2 weeks. On examination, her right ankle was swollen and warm, with full range of movements. The right dorsum was erythematous. Her initial investigations showed an increased WBC 22,200 (neutrophils 12,100) with an Hb of 11.8 and platelets 177 x 103. The xrays of ankles were unremarkable. Her urine pregnancy test interestingly came positive, as she denied any recent sexual intercourse, the last being 8 months ago. She underwent an ultrasound of abdomen and pelvis to look for the source of elevated HCG, which showed multiple solid hepatic nodules, likely neoplastic (metastatic v/s primary), the largest being ~6.8x6.2x4.9cm. The CT study showed a 4 cm hypodense mass in the tail of pancreas extending into the proximal part of the splenic vein. The liver showed numerous hypodense lesions in both lobes keeping with the metastases. In addition, there were fi lling defects noted in the segmental arteries in both lower lung lobes, keeping with pulmonary emboli. The following ultrasound Doppler study of the lower limbs had evidence of mid-distal superfi cial femoral and popliteal veins bilaterally. She underwent image guided liver biopsy and started on long-term low-molecular weight heparin for the PE. The histology showed an invasive adenocarcinoma, in keeping with metastasis from a ductal adenocarcinoma of the pancreas. Medical oncology team was consulted and advise for outpatient palliative chemotherapy. She was discharged stable and she followed up with Medical oncology and received fi rst cycle of Chemotherapy (oxaliplatin, fi uorouracil, irinotecan, leucovorin) on 10th sept.2013 which she tolerated well.

Purpose: Higher education institutions operated by public and private possession, differ in the methods for administration and decision making. Stakeholders of each sector experience a different proposition of benefits and services. As the role of propelled and satisfied faculty in conferring quality education is imperative so this study is devoted to the faculty concerns and issues. The reason for this paper is to analyze, examine and compare the service quality perceived by the faculties of both public and private sector medical schools geographically located within Punjab, which is the largest province (with 60% of Population) of Pakistan. Methodology: A survey instrument based on the recommendations of Waugh, R. F. (2002) and Owlia & Aspinwall (1996) was customized and contextualized to assess the service quality dimensions. Five dimensions included in the final instrument are listed below Tangibility: Physical appearance and infrastructure such as building equipments Content: The degree of significance of schooling material to the student needs Competence: The proficiency and knowledge of faculty members Reliability and Responsiveness: Availability of safe and reliable administrative suggestion Assurance and Empathy: Experience the courtesy and assurance while interacting with school administration. Non-Probability Purposive Convenience sampling was utilized to collect data from 349 faculty members of 10 different medical schools of Punjab. The independent sample t-test was employed in this study to identify the difference in perceived service quality of public and private sector medical school. Findings: Results of the independent sample t-test show that academic staff members perceive three dimensions Content , Reliability and Responsiveness, Assurance and Empathy significantly different in public and private medical schools (p<0.05) whereas in case of Tangibility, and Competence faculty members difference in opinion is statistically insignificantly in case of Tangibility and Competence (p>0.05). Originality of Paper: This is the first exertion in medical schools settings to quantify and compare the service quality perceived by faculty members which are main determinant of overall quality of higher education. This paper may be used for improving managerial/ administrative practices and can likewise be utilized a base for further research in related fields.
