        In order to investigate the influence of naproxen, prostaglandin biosynthesis inhibitor, and arachidonic acid, prostaglandin precusor, on the blood pressure response by drugs such as norepinephrine, angiotensin Ⅱ, acetylcholine and by carotid artery occlusion, this study was preformed in male rats. Naproxen did not influence on the pressor action of norepinephrine. potentiated the pressor action of angiotensin Ⅱ and the carotid artery occlusion, and inhibited the depressor action of acetylcoline Arachidonic acid did not influence on she pressor action of norepinephrine and the carotid artery occlusion, inhibited the pressor action of angiotensin Ⅱ, and potentiated the depressor action of acetylcholine.

        Effect of human endogenous retrovirus-K env gene knockout on proliferation of ovarian cancer cells

        Background: Among various human endogenous retroviruses (HERVs), the HERV-K (HML-2) group has been reported to be highly related to cancer. In pancreatic cancer cells, shRNA-mediated downregulation of HERV-K env RNA decreases cell proliferation and tumor growth through the RAS-ERK-RSK pathway; in colorectal cancer, CRISPR-Cas9 knockout (KO) of the HERV-K env gene affects tumorigenic characteristics through the nupr-1 gene. Objective: The effect of HERV-K env KO has not been studied in ovarian cancer cell lines. In this study, we analyzed the tumorigenic characteristics of ovarian cancer cell lines, including cell proliferation, migration, and invasion, and the expression patterns of related proteins after CRISPR-Cas9 KO of the HERV-K env gene. Methods: The HERV-K env gene KO was achieved using the CRISPR-Cas9 system in ovarian cancer cell lines SKOV3 and OVCAR3. Tumorigenic characteristics including cell proliferation, migration, and invasion were analyzed, and related protein expression was investigated by western blot analysis. Results: The expression of the HERV-K env gene in KO cells was significantly reduced at RNA and protein levels, and tumorigenic characteristics including cell proliferation, migration, and invasion were significantly reduced. In HERV-K env KO SKOV3 cells, the expression of the RB protein was significantly up-regulated and the cyclin B1 protein level was significantly reduced. In contrast, in HERV-K env KO OVCAR3 cells, the level of phospho-RB protein was significantly reduced, but other protein levels were not changed. Conclusion: The results of this study showed that HERV-K env gene KO affects cell proliferation, invasion, and migration of ovarian cells through RB and Cyclin B1 proteins, but the specific regulation pattern can differ by cell line.

        Correlation analysis of cancer stem cell marker CD133 and human endogenous retrovirus (HERV)-K env in SKOV3 ovarian cancer cells

        Background Human endogenous retrovirus (HERV)-K is a type of retrovirus that is present in the human genome, and its expression is usually silenced in healthy tissues. The precise mechanism by which HERV-K env influences cancer stemness is not fully understood, but it has been suggested that HERV-K env may activate various signaling pathways that promote stemness traits in cancer cells. Objective To establish the connection between HERV-K env expression and cancer stemness in ovarian cancer cells, we carried out correlation analyses between HERV-K env and the cancer stem cell (CSC) marker known as the cluster of differentiation 133 (CD133) gene in SKOV3 ovarian cancer cells. Method To perform correlation analysis between HERV-K env and CSCs, ovarian cancer cells were cultured in a medium designed for cancer stem cell induction. The expression of HERV-K env and CD133 genes was verified using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) and Western blot analyses. Additionally, the expression of stemness-related markers, such as OCT-4 and Nanog, was also confirmed using RT-qPCR. Results In the stem cell induction medium, the number of tumorsphere-type SKOV3 cells increased, and the expression of CD133 and HERV-K env genes was up-regulated. Additionally, other stemness-related markers like OCT-4 and Nanog also exhibited increased expression when cultured in the cancer stem cell induction medium. However, when HERV-K env knockout (KO) SKOV3 cells were cultured in the same cancer stem cell induction medium, there was a significant decrease in the number of tumorsphere-type cells compared to mock SKOV3 cells subjected to the same conditions. Furthermore, the expression of CD133, Nanog, and OCT-4 did not show a significant increase in HERV-K env KO SKOV3 cells compared to mock SKOV3 cells cultured in the same cancer stem cell induction medium. Conclusion These findings indicate that the expression of HERV-K env increased in SKOV3 cells when cultured in cancer stem cell induction media, and cancer stem cell induction was inhibited by KO of HERV-K env in SKOV3 cells. These results suggest a strong association between HERV-K env and stemness in SKOV3 ovarian cancer cells.         청소년의 건강행태와 정신건강요인이 비만에 영향을 미치는 요인 : 제18차 청소년건강행태 온라인 조사자료 활용

        본 연구는 건강행태와 정신건강요인이 청소년의 비만에 미치는 영향을 파악하여 팬데믹 이후 한국 청소년의 비만예방 프로그램 개발의 기초자료로 활용하고자 수행되었다. 본 연구는 2022년 제18차 청소년건강행태 온라인 조사자료를 분석하였으며 대상자는 총 51,850명이었다. 자료 분석은 복합표본 교차분석(Rao-Scott χ² test)과 위계적 로지스틱 회귀분석을 수행하였다. 연구결과 여학생이 남학생에 비해 비만 위험이 낮았으며(OR 0.325; 95%CI 0.306-0.345), 고등학교 학생이 중학생에 비해서 비만위험이 높게 나타났다(OR 1.592; 95%CI 1.486-1.705), 주관적 경제상태를 나쁘다고 인지하는 경우(OR 1.163; 95% CI 1.063-1.272), 주관적 학업성적이 낮은 경우(OR 1.449; 95%CI 1.355-1.550) 비만 위험이 높았다. 건강행태 특성 중 과일을 1일 1회 이상 섭취하는 경우(OR 0.803; 95% CI 0.749-0.861), 패스트푸드를 주 3회 이상 섭취하는 경우(OR 0.821; 95% CI 0.773-0.871), 근력강화운동을 주 3회 이상 하는 경우(OR 0.738; 95% CI 0.689-0.790)에 비만 위험이 낮게 나타났다. 정신건강요인으로 스트레스를 낮게 인지하는 경우 비만위험이 낮았다(OR 0.781; 95% CI 0.724-0.842). 청소년의 건강한 성장을 위하여 고등학교 남자청소년들의 근력운동을 격려하는 환경을 제공하고 청소년들의 스트레스를 낮출 수 있는 전략 모색이 필요하다. This study determines the effects of health behaviors and mental health factors on obesity in adolescents. Data from 51,850 participants obtained from the 18<SUP>th</SUP> Youth Health Behavior Online Survey in 2022 were analyzed using the Rao-Scott χ² test and hierarchical logistic regression. The results indicate that girls had a lower risk of obesity compared to boys (OR 0.325; 95%CI 0.306-0.345), and high school was associated with a higher risk of obesity compared to middle school (OR 1.592; 95% CI 1.486-1.705). Poor subjective economic status (OR 1.163; 95% CI 1.063-1.272) and low subjective academic performance (OR 1.449; 95% CI 1.355-1.550) were associated with an increased risk of obesity. Evaluating health behavior characteristics revealed that consuming more than one fruit per day (OR 0.803; 95% CI 0.749-0.861), fast food (> 3/week) (OR 0.821; 95% CI 0.773-0.871), and muscle strengthening exercise (> 3/week) (OR 0.738; 95% CI 0.689-0.790) were associated with lower risk of obesity. Low levels of stress as a mental health factor were also associated with a lower risk of obesity (OR 0.781; 95% CI 0.724-0.842). For nurturing healthy adolescents, high school males need encouragement to promote strength training and lower their perceived stress.

        The general pharmacological properties of Artemisia extract powder (DA-9601) produced from Artemisia asiatica leaves were investigated in mice, rats, guinea pigs and rabbits. DA-9601 at the dose of 800 ㎎/㎏ po had no influences on general behaviour, barbital sleeping time and motor coordination of mice. The material at the oral dose of 800 ㎎/㎏ did exhibit neither analgesic action nor hypothermic effect. Anticonvulsant action, muscle relaxant action and the effect on intestinal propulsion were not identified at 800 ㎎/㎏ po. In the isolated ileum and trachea of guinea pig, the material did not show direct effect and inhibitory action of chemically or electrically stimulated contraction at the concentration of 2 x 10^(-5) g/㎖ The sinus rates of atria and contractility of papillary muscle of guinea pig were not influenced by DA-9601 at a dose of 2 x 10^(-5) g/ml. No influences on blood pressure and respiration were observed at 40 ㎎/㎏ iv, in rabbits. However, transient decreases in blood pressure of rabbits were observed as given 120 ㎎/㎏ in iv route with slight respiratory depression, and slight diuretic effect could be found without any changes in Na^+ and K^+ excretion.

        Comparative Study of Lumbar Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Myelography in Young Soldiers with Herniated Lumbar Disc

        Objective : This study was undertaken to compare the diagnostic performances of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), MR myelography (MRM) and myelography in young soldiers with a herniated lumbar disc (HLD). Methods : Sixty-five male soldiers with HLD comprised the study cohort. A visual analogue scale for low back pain (VAS-LBP), VAS for leg radiating pain (VAS-LP), and Oswestry disability index (ODI) were applied. Lumbar MR, MRM, and myelographic findings were checked and evaluated by four independent radiologists, respectively. Each radiologist was asked to score (1 to 5) the degree of disc protrusion and nerve root compression using modified grading systems devised by the North American Spine Society and Pfirrmann and the physical examination rules for conscription in the Republic of Korea. Correlated coefficients between clinical and radiological factors were calculated. Interpretational reproducibility between MRI and myelography by four bases were calculated and compared. Results : Mean patient age was $20.5{\pm}1.1$. Mean VAS-LBP and VAS-LP were $6.7{\pm}1.6$ and $7.4{\pm}1.7$, respectively. Mean ODI was $48.0{\pm}16.2%$. Mean MRI, MRM, and myelography scores were $3.3{\pm}0.9$, $3.5{\pm}1.0$, and $3.9{\pm}1.1$, respectively. All scores of diagnostic performances were significantly correlated (p < 0.05). However, none of these scores reflected the severity of patients' symptoms. There was no statistical difference of interpretational reproducibility between MRI and myelography. Conclusion : Although MRI and myelography are based on different principles, they produce similar interpretational reproducibility in young soldiers with a HLD. However, these modalities do not reflect the severity of symptoms.

        일부 치위생과 학생의 학교 진로지원 평가와 진로 탐색 효능감이 진로 탐색 행동에 미치는 영향

        본 연구는 치위생과 학생들이 효과적인 진로 탐색 행동으로 성공적인 취업을 할 수 있도록 진로지도 및 진로지원 프로그램 개발에 필요한 기초 자료를 제시하고자 시행하였다. 2014년 12월 1일부터 2014년 12월 12일까지 울산 지역과 대구 지역에 소재하는 2개 대학 치위생과 여학생들을 편의 표본추출하여 자기기입식 설문조사를 실시하고 자료를 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 학교 진로지원 평가와 진로 탐색 효능감은 전공에 대하여 만족하거나 자신의 적성에 맞을 경우 높았고, 가정형편이 좋지 않거나 성적이 하위권일 경우에는 낮았다. 관계구축 효능감이 높은 사람은 졸업 후 교육계를 희망하거나 취업성공에 있어서 적극적인 태도와 정보습득이 중요하다고 생각하였으며, 진로 탐색 행동은 학교 진로지원 평가와 진로탐색 효능감과 모두 양의 상관관계가 있었다. 진로 탐색 행동에 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 요인은 직업탐색 효능감 (β=0.702, p<0.001)이며 개인탐색 효능감(β=-0.242, p<0.001), 실제적 진로지원(β=0.165, p<0.05)과 관계구축 효능감(β=0.152, p<0.05) 순으로 나타났다. 이상의 결과를 종합해 볼 때 치위생과 학생의 효과적인 진로 탐색 행동으로 성공적인 취업을 이끌기 위해서는 전공 만족도 향상과 자신의 적성에 맞는 학과 선택이 아주 중요하고 체계화된 직업 탐색 프로그램과 대인관계 및 의사소통 강화 프로그램 활용이 필요하며 대학의 실제적인 진로지원이 강화되어야 할 것이다. 또한, 진로 및 취업지도에 관한 지원부서 및 전문 상담기관 활용, 직업 탐색 프로그램의 운영효과 등에 관한 추후 연구가 필요하다고 생각된다. For the purpose of investigating the effect of evaluation on career support by the college and career exploration efficacy of dental hygiene students on the career exploration behavior, a survey was conducted in December 2014 with students of dental hygiene at universities located in Ulsan and Daegu as subjects. In the result, correlation was found among sub-factors of evaluation on career support by the college, career exploration efficacy, and career exploration behavior. Increase of career exploration efficacy (β=0.702, p<0.001), practical career support (β=0.165, p<0.05), and relationship establishment efficacy (β=0.152, p<0.05) led to increase of career exploration behavior, while increase of individual exploration efficacy (β=-0.242, p<0.001) led to decrease of career exploration efficacy. Therefore, it is necessary to build appropriate value system related to job seeking, conduct active discussions to increase relationship establishment efficacy by using interpersonal relationship reinforcement program, and expand career support program by the college.
