Web-based Application Service Management System for Fault Monitoring
Sang-Cheol Min,Tai-Myoung Chung,Hyoung-Woo Park,Kyung-Ha Lee,Kee-Hong Pang 한국정보과학회 1997 Journal of Electrical Engineering and Information Vol.2 No.6
Network technology has been developed for very high-speed networking and multimedia data whose characteristics are the continuous and bursty transmission as wen as a large amount of data. With this trend users wish to view the information about the application services as well as network devices and system hardware. However, it is rarely available for the users the information of performance or faults of the application services. Most of information is limited to the information related network devices or system hardware. Furthermore, users expect the best services witham knowing the service environments in the network and there is no good way of delivering the service related problems and fault information of application services in a high speed network yet. In this paper we present a web-based application management system that we have developed for the past year. It includes a method to build an agent system that uses an existing network management standards. SNMP MIB and SNMP protocols. The user interface of the system is also developed to support visualization effects with web-based Java interface which offers a convenient way not only to access management information but also to control networked applications.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to analyze stress distributions in the roots, periodontal ligaments (PDLs), and bones around cylindrical and tapered miniscrews inserted at different angles using a finite element analysis. Methods: We created a three-dimensional (3D) maxilla model of a dentition with extracted first premolars and used 2 types of miniscrews (tapered and cylindrical) with 1.45-mm diameters and 8-mm lengths. The miniscrews were inserted at 30°, 60°, and 90° angles with respect to the bone surface. A simulated horizontal orthodontic force of 2 N was applied to the miniscrew heads. Then, the stress distributions, magnitudes during miniscrew placement, and force applications were analyzed with a 3D finite element analysis. Results: Stresses were primarily absorbed by cortical bone. Moreover, very little stress was transmitted to the roots, PDLs, and cancellous bone. During cylindrical miniscrew insertion, the maximum von Mises stress increased as insertion angle decreased. Tapered miniscrews exhibited greater maximum von Mises stress than cylindrical miniscrews. During force application, maximum von Mises stresses increased in both groups as insertion angles decreased. Conclusions: For both cylindrical and tapered miniscrew designs, placement as perpendicular to the bone surface as possible is recommended to reduce stress in the surrounding bone.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine whether the status of the hinge gutter affected clinical and radiographic outcomes of cervical open door laminoplasty. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 43 patients who had undergone cervical open door laminoplasty. 23 CT scans were performed at 2 days post-operation. The number of CT scans at 3, 6, 12 and 24 months were 16, 12, 21 and 11, respectively. We collected perioperative and follow-up data, including clinical and radiographic results. Results: There were 7 patients without a hinge fracture and 16 patients with one or more hinge fractures at 2 days postoperation. There were 90 hinges, and the rate of ideal greenstick deformation of the hinge was 63% on 2-day-postoperative CT scans. Postoperative VAS scores of neck pain (p=0.012) in patients without a hinge fracture were higher than in patients with hinge fractures. The hinge healing rates were 37% at 3 months, 57.4% at 6 months, 86.4% at 12 months, and 85.4% at 24 months. Among the patients, 14 patients had healed hinges, and 7 patients had one or more hinge(s) that was/were not healed at 12 months post-operation. However, in clinical and radiographic outcomes, there was no difference between these patients. Conclusion: Cervical open door laminoplasty was safe and provided stable reconstruction of laminar expansion. In radiographs, the difference between hinges that had healed and hinges that had not healed was statistically negligible. Hinge fractures might not influence the clinical and radiographic outcomes of cervical open door laminoplasty.

The feasibility of the reduction of nortricyclanone (1) as a chemical probe for testing the proposed radical mechanism for NAD-dependent horse liver alcohol dehydrogenase (HLADH) reactions has been examined using computer graphics modeling. The resutls of this study suggest that the radical ring-opening of this probe molecule may involve too substantial a geometry reorganization for the molecule to serve as a chemical probe in detecting the possible presence of the radical intermediates in the HLADH reactions. This result suggests that one should exercise caution in extrapolating results obtained from chemically based radical probes in the solution phase to the topologically constrained systems such as enzyme-substrate reactions.
