        Effects of Supercritical Carbon Dioxide Treatment on Meat Quality and Sensory Evaluation in Soy Sauce and Hot-pepper Paste Marinated Pork

        The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of supercritical carbon dioxide (SC-CO2) treatment on meat quality and sensory evaluation of marinated pork. Meat marinated in two traditional Korean marinades, soy sauce and hot-pepper paste, and raw marinated meat were then treated with 7.4, 12.2, or 15.2 MPa CO2 at 31.1oC for 10 min. The SC-CO2 treatments had no effect on the meat pH (p>0.05) or Warner-Bratzler shear force (p>0.05). There was no significant difference (p>0.05) in the total loss (sum of treatment loss and cooking loss) between the control and SC-CO2 treated samples at 15.2 MPa (soy sauce marinated pork: 21.78 vs. 18.97%; hot-pepper marinated pork: 21.61 vs. 18.01%). After the SC-CO2 treatment, lighter surface colors were observed in the treatment samples compared to those of the control samples (p< 0.001). However, tasting panelists were unable to distinguish a difference in color or in overall acceptability of the control and treatment (p>0.05). In the case of soy sauce marinated pork, when SC-CO2 applied at 15.2 MPa and 31.1oC for 10 min, treatment samples showed a tenderer meat than the control samples. Therefore, the SC-CO2 treatment conditions had no adverse effects on the sensory quality characteristics of the marinated meat products.

        Nicardipine이 당뇨병성 자율신경병증 환자에서 기관내 삽관에 따른 혈역학적 변화에 미치는 영향

        Background: A laryngoscopy and tracheal intubation often provoke an undesirable increase in blood pressure and heart rate. These hemodynamic responses to tracheal intubation in diabetics are blunted due to autonomic neuropathy. This study was designed to determine the optimal dose of nicardipine in diabetic autonomic neuropathy patients. Methods: According to the nicardipine dose, 80 diabetics were randomly allocated to four groups of 20 patients. Tracheal intubation by direct laryngoscopy was performed. After intravenous thiopental d mg/kg, vecuronium 0.13 mg/kg and one of the dosages of nicardipine 3, 5, or 7 ㎍/kg followed by mask ventilation of three minutes with enflurane, nitrous oxide and oxygen. Heart rate and blood pressure were mesured five times at one minute intervals. Results: There was no significant difference in the 3 ㎍/kg group compared with the control group. On the other hand, there was a sufficient blood pressure decrease in the ㎍/kg and 7 ㎍/kg group. However, in the 7 ㎍/kg group, 55% of cases showed severe hypotension (< 70 mmHg). Conchusions: We suggest that the appropriate dose of nicardipine for prevention of tachycardia, and hypertension in diabetic autonomic neuropathy patients is 5 ㎍/kg.         술후 진통을 위해 투여한 Ketorolac이 혈액응고 기능에 미치는 영향 : 혈전탄성묘사도를 이용한 평가 A Thromboelastographic Evaluation

        Background: Thromboelastography (TEG) has recently become popular for assessment of whole blood coagulation in the operating room. Ketorolac, a potent injectable nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), is commonly used for postoperative analgesia. NSAID inhibit plated aggregation in coagulation process. This study was designed to determine whether ketorolac used for postoperative analgesia can affect hemostatic function using a TEG. Methods: Seventy-four female patients, ASA physical status 1 or 2, scheduled for an elective gynecologic surgery were randomly allocated into one of four groups (Group 1: n=10, control without patient-controlled analgesia (PCA); Group 2: n=21, PCA with morphine 60 mg; Group 3: n=20, PCA with morphine 30 mg + ketorolac 90 mg; Group 4: n=23, PCA with ketorolac 180 mg). Blood samples were obtained for TEG analysis preoperatively and 24, 48 and 72 h after surgery. Cumulative drug dosage, visual analog pain scale, satisfaction degree and side effects were measured at 24, 48 and 72 h after surgery. Results: There were no significant differenced in TGE parameters among the four groups at each time. There were no significant differenced in visual analog pain scales and satisfaction degree among the three groups using PCA for postoperative analgesia. Among the three groups using PCA for postoperative analgesia, Group 2 experienced more side effects. Conclusions: Ketorolac does not affect hemostatic function for 3 days after surgery when administrated as a PCA drug. (Korean J Anesthesiol 2002; 43: 755~762)

        With the development of semiconductor devices, adaptation of microcontroller prevails in industrial area. But in arc welding industry, there has not been much progress in adoption microcontroller technology. Therefore, this paper shows the application of digital control technology to welding machine. This paper presents the design of microcontroller that is appropriate for three phase CO2 gas metal arc welding machine. By using microcontroller in CO2 gas metal arc welding machine, the overact cost can be reduced compared to analog type one. Also TMS370C850 microprocessor is used as overall microcontroller for the arc welding machine.

      • 순간전압강하 보상기능을 갖는 능동전력필터 시스템의 특성해석

        The conventional APF(Active Power Filter) system performs only function which is compensated for AC harmonics by injecting harmonic compensation current as well as reactive power component by PWM technique. This paper presents a new APF which provides the combined functions of instantaneous VDC(Voltage Drop Compensator) together with APF function , Because the structure of APF is similar to stand-alone UPS In parallel type. Therefore by the states of source voltage, This system fufills not only APF function but also VDC through mode transform algorithm. The control range of VDC sets from 10% to 70% voltage drop. In this paper inverter is operated by the hysteresis controller for the current control in APF and the voltage control in VDC which have the merits of the easy implementation and the fast response for the transient states. The power circuit is composed of voltage-fed IGBT inverter. Single-chip microprocessor plays an important role in controlling both functions. In addition with simulation result from ACSL(Advanced Continuous Simulation Language), experimental results are shown to verify the proposed idea for APF system.

      • 능동전력필터 기능을 갖는 병렬형 무정전 전원 시스템의 해석 및 설계

        Conventional UPS(Uninterruptible Power Supply) systems offer load voltage continuity and are standing by power outage when the utility power is maintained normal. It has a low efficiency because it operate at power failure. Harmonic currents induced by switching supplies badly distort the output waveform of power sources. Utility power quality has become an important issue recently. So various APF(Active Power Filter) has been proposed to suppress harmonics caused by nonlinear load. This paper presents a new concept of UPS system that provides the combined functions of APF. An off-line UPS similar to voltage type APF that proposed in this paper. The operation of the new off-line UPS system used not only eliminate the harmful harmonics caused by nonlinear load but also offer load voltage continuity. A half-bridge inverter is utilzed to deliver clean power to the loads during power outage or to suppress the harmonics from the line current in normal. It is efficient and economical because the one inverter use for combined function. We use 8051 single chip microprocessor for software synchronization, generation of reference voltage waveform and SSR(Solid State Relay)control. Its transient performance is good at the moment of the change of operation mode.

        Platelet aggregation is the final pathway of acute coronary syndrome such as acute myocardial infarction and unstable angina. Platelet glycoprotein IIb/IIIa is a membrane receptor for fibrinogen and yon Willebrand factor and it plays an important role in platelet aggregation and in the pathogenesis of acute coronary syndrome. It is known that polymorphism of the gene that encoding platelet glycoprotein IIb/IIIa(PI^A1/A2) is strongly related to acute coronary syndrome in Caucasian, but not in Koreans. We investigated relationship between platelet glycoprotein llb/Illa gene polymorphism and restenosis of coronary artery after angioplasty in Koreans. Total 371 patients(M=251. F=120) were enrolled. Angioplasty group comprised 143 patients who underwent coronary angioplasty, and in the angioplasty group, restenosis group comprised with the 65 patients who had restenotic lesion over 50% of luminal diameter in follow-up coronary angiography. Normal group comprised 153 patients who had no significant angiographic lesion and variant angina group comprised 75 patients who were positive in ergonovine test. Genomic DNA was extracted from peripheral arterial blood. To determine the frequency of P1^A1/A2 genotype, polymerase chain reaction(PCR) was done and the product was restricted with Mspl. 3%. agarrose gel electrophoresis showed restriction fragment length polymorphism. Clinical profile and risk factor were also reviewed. Among all 371 patients of study group, genotype of only one patients in restenosis group if is proven to be PI^A1/A2 heterozygote. All patients of normal study group, no restenosis group, and the other patients in restenosis group have an PI^A1 homozygote genotype. In our study, platelet glycoprotein IIb/Illa polymorphism has no relationship with restenosis of the coronary artery after angioplasty in Koreans. But the genotypic frequency of platelet glycoprotein IIb/IIIa gene polymorphism in Koreans is concordant with that of previous studies.

        한국인 알코올 의존 환자에서 알코올 대사 효소 유전자형 빈도의 남녀 차이

        Objectives : There are a number of preceding epidemiological studies reporting gender differences in the genetic etiology of alcohol dependence. The author investigated gender difference in the frequencies of ADH2 and ALDH2 genoypes between the patients with alcohol dependence and normal control. Methods : The subjects were 141 alcohol dependent patients (104 males, 37 females) and 138 normal control (79 males, 59 females). The frequencies of 1/1 and 1/2+2/2 (2+ afterward) genotypes for ADH2 and ALDH2 were investigated in male and female between alcohol dependence and normal control group. DNA was extracted from WBC in peripheral venous blood and PCR-RFLP method was used out for genotyping. Results : First, the frequency of ADH2 1/1 genotype was significantly higher in alcohol dependent patients than normal control in both genders. Second, while there was no gender difference in the frequency of ADH2 1/1 genotype in normal controls, in the patient group however, the frequency was significantly higher in females than males. Third, in male subjects with alcohol dependence, the frequency of ALDH2 1/1 genotype was significantly higher than in male normal control subjects. On the other hand, in female subjects with alcohol dependence, the frequency of ALDH2 2+ genotype was significantly higher than in female normal control subjects. Conclusion : These results suggest that while the risk of alcohol dependence is predominantly affected by ALDH2 1/1 geno-type in male, the female ADH2 1/1 genotype is mainly associated with the risk of alcohol dependence. This means that there are gender differences in the genetic etiology of alcohol dependence.
