Economic Reliability test plans(ERTP) are proposed considering that the life time of the submitted items follow the Pareto distribution of the second kind. For various specified acceptance number, sample size and producer's risk, a minimum test termination time is obtained. A comparison of proposed plan has been made with the existing plan developed by Aslam et al. (2010). The results are explained by tables and example.

<P>In this paper, a control chart has been developed for the Conway-Maxwell Poisson (COM-Poisson) distribution using the modified exponentially weighted moving average statistic. The proposed chart provides an efficient detection of smaller changes in the location parameter of the COM-Poisson distribution. The performance of the proposed control chart has been evaluated by the average and the standard deviation of the run length distribution for various parameters. Better detecting ability has also been compared with the existing control chart using EWMA statistic. Using simulation, we also showed the detecting ability over the traditional EWMA chart.</P>

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Aluminum dioxide (Al<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB>) flat-tubular ceramic membrane was applied in a novel staged anaerobic fluidized bed ceramic membrane bioreactor (SAF-CMBR) for low-strength wastewater treatment. Granular activated carbon (GAC) particles were fluidized by bulk recirculation through the membrane reactor to control membrane fouling without any biogas sparging. The SAF-CMBR was operated for 350 days at 25 °C with total hydraulic retention time (HRT) between 1.3 and 2.1 h. A net permeate flux of 22 L/m<SUP>2</SUP> h was achieved during the reactor operation combined with periodic maintenance cleaning using 25 mg/L of sodium hypochlorite solution under GAC fluidization. The overall chemical oxygen demand (COD) removal efficiency was 93%; with average SCOD was less than 30 mg/L in membrane permeate. Energy requirement to operate the SAF-CMBR was 0.024 kWh/m<SUP>3</SUP> and it was only 10% of the electrical energy converted from methane produced by the reactor. Biosolids production averaged 0.01 g volatile suspended solids per g COD removed. With SAF-CMBR, microbial classification revealed that anaerobic treatment was achieved mainly by microbial communities grown on the GAC particles fluidized in which propionate-degrading syntrophs, aceticlastic/DIET-dependent CO<SUB>2</SUB> reduction methanogens <I>Methanothrix</I> and exoelectrogenic <I>Geobacter</I> were dominated.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Staged anaerobic fluidized bed ceramic membrane bioreactor was developed. </LI> <LI> Net flux of 22 LMH was achieved under GAC fluidization and maintenance cleaning. </LI> <LI> Overall COD removal of 93% was achieved with less than 30 mg/L COD in permeate. </LI> <LI> Only 10% of electrical energy produced by the reactor was required for system operation. </LI> <LI> <I>Methanothrix</I> and <I>Geobactor</I> were dominantly grown on GAC particles as fluidized media. </LI> </UL> </P>
An Improved Group Sampling Plan Based on Time-Truncated Life Tests

In this paper, a new group sampling plan for the lot acceptance is proposed for the time truncated life test, which can be utilized when multi-item testers are implemented. The design parameters are found using the two-point approach such that the producer's and consumer's risks are satisfied simultaneously at the acceptable reliability level and the lot tolerance reliability level, respectively. The case of Weibull distribution is described to illustrate the procedure that can be used when the quality level is expressed by a multiple of the specified life. The advantage of the proposed plan is demonstrated by comparing with the existing plan in terms of the sample size required. The tables are constructed and some examples are given to illustrate the procedure developed here.
A correlation study between weather and atmosphere with COVID-19 pandemic in Islamabad, Pakistan

The present research aims to investigate the association amid weather and the most recent pandemic of COVID-19 in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan. The source of COVID-19 surveillance data for the secondary data analysis was the Pakistan’s Ministry of National Health Services Regulations and Coordination. The weather data obtained from the Pakistan Metrological Department (PMD) was exercised in this research. The components of weather include wind speed (m/s), precipitation level (mm), normal, mean, maximum, and minimum temperature (C). For data analysis, a non-parametric correlation test was used due to the reason that normality was not satisfied. Precipitation level (r = - 0.285; p =0 .022), normal temperature (r = 0.293; p = 0.019) as well as the maximum temperature (r = 0.347; p = 0.005) were very much associated with COVID-19 virus. Pollution data (showing the concentration of NO2) of the specific region comprising the study area extracted from the Sentinel-5P satellite was also compared for the two years (2019 and 2020). Since the country will be entering to a new weather season, the conclusions may well assist the strategy and decision-makers in the deterrence of COVID-19.
Improved Group Acceptance Sampling Plan for Dagum Distribution under Percentiles Lifetime

This paper deals with a group acceptance sampling plan for time truncated tests which are based on the total number of failures from the whole group assuming that the life time of an item follows the Dagum (inverse Burr) distribution. This study is developed when a multiple number of items as a group can be tested simultaneously in a tester. The minimum number of groups required for a given group size and acceptance number is determined such that the producer and consumer risks are satisfied simultaneously at the specified quality level, while the termination time and the number of testers are specified. Comparisons are made between the proposed plan and the existing plan on the basis of size of the groups. Two real examples are provided.
