First Report of Feltiella acarisuga Vallot (Diptera: Cecidomyiidae) in Korea

Feltiella acarisuga Vallot, a predatory gall midge preying upon spider mites, is reported for the first time in Korea. It was found in a greenhouse on Glycine soja Sieb. et Zucc. heavily infested with Tetranychus urticae in Sachon, Kyongnam Province. This species is very useful biological control agent for spider mites on greenhouse vegetable crops. Brief morphological characteristics are described. 점박이응애 밀도가 높은 돌콩에서 응애 포식천적인 Feltiella acarisuga Vallot(신칭; 응애 혹파리)가 국내에서 처음으로 발견되었다. 이 종의 형태적 특징 및 간략한 생태정보를 보고한다.

With the convergence of the information and communication technologies, a new age of technological civilization has arrived. This is the age of intelligent revolution, known as the 4th industrial revolution. The 4th industrial revolution is based on technological innovations, such as robots, big data analysis, artificial intelligence, and unmanned transportation facilities. This revolution would interconnect all the people, things, and economy, and hence will lead to the expansion of the industry. A high-density, high-capacity energy technology is required to maintain this interconnection. As a next-generation energy source, lithium-ion batteries are in the spotlight today. However, lithium-ion batteries can cause thermal runaway and fire because of electrical, thermal, and mechanical abuse. In this study, thermal runaway was induced in 72.5 Ah NCM pouch-type lithium-ion batteries because of thermal abuse. The surface of the pouch-type lithium-ion batteries was heated by the hot plate heating method, and the effect of the rate of increase in the surface temperature on the thermal runaway trigger time was analyzed using Minitab 19, a statistical analysis program. The correlation analysis results confirmed that there existed a strong negative relationship between each variable, while the regression analysis demonstrated that the thermal runaway trigger time of lithium-ion batteries can be predicted from the rate of increase in their surface temperature.
Remarks on weighted harmonic Bergman functions on half-spaces

On the setting of the upper half-space H of the Euclidean n-space, we first estimate the size of partial derivatives of any order for functions in weighted harmonic Bergman spaces and then we show that any partial derivative of weighted harmonic Bergman function behaves nicely on any proper half-space contained in H. Also, we show that if any partial derivative of a given weighted harmonic Bergman function u vanishes on H, then so does u.
건강신념모형을 이용한 전라북도 일부지역 모친의 구강진료이용에 영향을 미치는 요인에 관한 연구 : an application of the health belief model

The purpose of this study was to determine elements affecting the dental service utilization of mothers. 982 mothers were surveyed among the residents living of an area of Chollabuk-do Province, Korea. Using the Health Belief Model a qustionnaire was constructed and administrated to the samples. Collected data were analyzed by multiple logistic regression, multiple regression and path analysis. The obtained results were as follows; 1. In consequence of the multiple logistic regression analysis putting the utilization of dental service in dependent variable, frequency of medical utilization, perceptions of susceptibility and salience had significant effects on dental visits. 2. The significant factors directly influencing frequency of dental visits were frequency of medical utilization, perception of susceptibility, perceptions of seriousness and salience, in multiple regression analysis. 3. In results of thepath analysis, most sociodemographic factors except mother's age had indirecteffect on frequency dental visits. Also, perceived self oral health knowedge and level of health concern had indirect effect on frequency of dental visits. 4. According to the results of the path analysis, the major factors influencing the frequency of dental visits were frequency of medical utilization, cue to action, perception of susceptibility, preceptions of seriousness and salience. and mother's perceived seriousness was most important factor affecting frequency of dental visits.
S-band Accelerating Structures for the PAL-XFEL

One hundred seventy-two accelerating structures are required for the Pohang Accelerator LaboratoryX-ray free-electron laser’s (PAL-XFEL’s) 10-GeV main linear accelerator. So far, we havepurchased 80 structures from Mitsubishi Heavy Industry (MHI), which have quasi-symmetric couplersin the accelerating structure to reduce the quadruple and the sextuple components of theelectric field in the coupling cavity. High-power tests have been conducted for the first structure ofthe MHI structure, and Research Instruments (RI) has developed a 3-m long accelerating structurethat has an operating frequency of 2856 MHz and in/out couplers of quasi-symmetric racetrackshape for the PAL-XFEL linear accelerator. This structure also has been tested by PAL and RIin the Pohang accelerator laboratory (PAL) to check the maximum available electric field gradient. We will describe the test results of these structures and the current status for the fabrication of theother accelerating structures in this paper.
Foliar Flavonoids of Two Sections of Genus Dendropanax in China, Japan, and Korea

Dendropanax, Araliaceae is a relatively small genus, which is composed of two sections, Dendropanax and Columnistylus. Foliar flavonoids were examined from 13 taxa of Dendropanax from China, Korea, and Japan. A total of 11 compounds were isolated and identified, mainly with the glycosides of the flavonols (kaempferol, and quercetin) and C-glycosylflavones (apigenin and luteolin). The majority of flavonoids fell into two major groups: a) flavonol and C-glycosylflavone (sect. Dendropanax) and b) flavonol only (some taxa of sect. Columnistylus). The analyzed flavonoid profiles were relatively simple, but showed that D. proteus and D. hainanensis of sect. Columnistylus were distinct from other taxa. On the other hand, tabulation of the identified flavonoid of the taxa within sect. Dendropanax failed to clearly distinguish among the species due to the similarity of their flavonoid profile. Dendropanax morbiferus and D. trifidus in Korea and Japan caused frequent difficulty in identification. The morphological differentiation between D. morbiferus and D. trifidus was not considered sufficient to warrant recognition of either specific or varietal status and they therefore should be treated as conspecific under D. trifidus. Additionally D. dentigerus in central and southern China was distinguished from D. trifidus only by leaf shape. The close morphological association indicated that even D. dentigerus was only weakly differentiated from D. trifidus. The taxonomic confusion surrounding D. trifidus and D. dentigerus will only be resolved and clarified using many reproductive individuals, rather than high variable vegetative characteristics.
