Abstract The long tradition of western humanist individualism is so-called because it places the human individual at the centre of its conception of reality. Our notion of a coherent inner consciousness-subjectivity- is central to our sense of individual existence. These assumptions is succunctly expressed in Descarts's famous dictum 'I think hence I am'. However, the belief in individual consciousness is fundamentally challenged by Freud's theory of the unconscious. In Lacan's elaboration of Freudian theory instead of a unitary, coherent self, identity is perceived as plural, indeterminate, even illusionary. For Lacan, the Symbolic Law that is, language -is the crucial means through which individuals are subjected to the outer world. Thus, Lacan distinguishes the self of the narration and the self of the narrative ; this is the self of the Symbolic and that is one of the Imaginary. The self of the Imaginary continue to re-achieve its boundary by indentifying with objects in the outer world. In this process, the self realizes the conception of difference and opposition, localizes its position and achieves the subjectivity. As a result, the self enters the Symbolic and expresses the images and surfaces with language. In Samuel Beckett's Footfalls, pacing on strip of the stage, May seeks to identify herself with the subject of Voice's narrative. May says that her narrative is the Sequel of Voice's. In her narrative she imitates her Mother/Voice's narrative : words (suppose, fancy), syntax ('What do you mean, Amy?', 'What do you mean, May?'), dialogue form. May repeatedly localizes the boundary of her self by identifying herself with the self of Voice's narrative and seeks to achieve her subjectivity. But she is the presence as the physical body on the stage and has the self which don't achieve her subjectivity through the relationships with the outer world. Viewer stands between actress(May) and the narratives. Identification constructs would simply allow for a series of apparent identities of the listener/viewer with the languages or theatrics, only to be later deconstructed, reassembled, or unassembled. And a process in which a listener/viewer functions, in that dialectic mental movement, is the working out playing out of constant repetition. Instead of identity, another process institutes itself ; projecting viewer failure, producing each time again a question of identity. In other words, viewer becomes to be the theatre's apparatus which carrys out the dialictical role. Thus viewer should achieve its own subjectivity through this painful process.

This study was conducted to identify the effects of exercise therapy applied in an efficacy expectation promoting program that was based on Bandura's self efficacy model on self-efficacy, cardiopulmonary function and metabolism in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients. The study design was nonequivalent pre-test post-test control design. 34 type 2 diabetes mellitus patients who received follow-up care regularly through the diabetic out-patient clinic were randomly sampled for this study. Twenty patients were assigned to the experimental group and fourteen patients were assigned to the control group. To the experimental group, exercise therapy applied in an efficacy expectation promoting program that is composed of individualized exercise prescription for 12 weeks was provided. In case of the control group, they were instructed to continue their usual lives. Data collection period was from March 1998 to June 2000 Data were analyzed using SPSS/WINDOW 10.0 program. The results were as follows. In experimental group, The score of self efficacy has increased from 64.20 to 66.65 after exercise therapy applied in an efficacy expectation promoting program and it was statistically significant(t=2,07,p=.04). The anaerobic threshold has increased from 18.20 ㎖/kg/min to 19.07 ㎖/kg/min and it was statistically significant (t=2.05, p=.04). Level of fasting blood sugar has decreased from 188.20 mg/㎗ to 155.55mg/㎗ after exercise therapy applied in an efficacy expectation promoting program and it was statistically significant.(t=-2.69, p=.0l) For the lipid metabolism, percent body fat has decreased from 27.16 % to 26.57 % after exercise therapy applied in an efficacy expectation promoting program. In conclusion, the exercise therapy applied in an efficacy expectation promoting program showed positive effect on self-efficacy, cardiopulmonary function and glucose and lipid metabolism.

With an increasing percentage of the population reaching old age, professional nurses play an expanded role in caring for aging people. So nurses need to be knowledgeable about functional changes that occur as a fart of the normal process of aging, and distinguish between these normal changes and specific pathological processes that occur with increasing frequency as an individual ages. Most physiologic aging changes begin in early middle life from 40 to 50 years of age and then advance progressively with age. Universal physiologic changes in aging include various degrees of cardiovascular degeneration, osteoporosis, muscle wasting, immune insufficiency, decreased gastrointestinal function, diminished pulmonary and renal reserves, and an impairment of vision, hearing, and memory. Especially connective tissue, nerve, and muscle, which play important parts in integrating various functions and have no turnover ability of cells, show the most prominent changes. The changes characterizing senescence are progressive weakening of homeostatic mechanism and limited adaptability to stress. Therefore, accumulated wear and tear eventually exceed the organism's capacity to adapt and lead to functional impairment and death. But obviously biologic aging does not precisely match the passing of time as measured chronologically.

This study was conducted to identify the effects of a planned exercise program based on Bandura's self efficacy model on metabolism, and the exercise compliance in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients. The study design was a nonequivalent pre-test post-test control design. Thirty four type 2 diabetes mellitus patients, who received follow-up care regularly through the diabetic out-patient clinic, were randomly sampled for this study. Twenty patients were assigned to the experimental group and fourteen patients were assigned to the control group. In the experimental group, a planned exercise program is composed of an individualized exercise prescription for 12 weeks, an individual education, and even a telephone coach program. In the case of the control group, they were instructed to continue with their usual schedules. The data collection period was from March 1999 to February 2000 Data were analyzed using SPSS/WINDOW 10.0 program. The results were as follows. 1. In the experimental group, the level of fasting blood sugar has significantly decreased from 188.20 mg/㎗ to 155.55 mg/㎗ after planned exercise program (F= 16.86, p=.000). For lipid metabolism, body fat per cutaneous decreased from 27.16% to 26.57% after planned exercise program. The score of self efficacy has increased from 64.20 to 66.65 after planned exercise program and it was statistically significant (F=4.850, p=.040) The functional vital capacity has increased from 3.28$\ell$ to 3.37$\ell$and it was statistically significant(F=7.300, p=.020). 2. In an after effect of a planned exercise program, 35 percent of the subjects who participated in a planned exercise program continued to exercise for another six months. In conclusion, the planned exercise program can improve cardiopulmonary function, glucose, and lipid metabolism. This program was show a positive effect on the self efficacy and exercise compliance.
