      • 국내외 북극해항로 연구현황 및 전망

        북극해 항로관련 본격적인 연구는 노르웨이, 러시아, 일본 등이 공동으로 주관하여 1993년 시작되어 1999년에 끝난 INSROP이라고 할 수 있다. 우리나라는 이들 나라에 비하여 많이 늦었지만 관심을 가지고 산발적으로 진행하여 왔다. 우리나라에서의 북극과 관련한 연구는 극지연구소가 극지기후변화, 극지지구시스템, 극지생명과학, 극지해양환경 등 지구과학적인 측면에서 연구를 하고 있고 한국해양수산개발원은 해운항만정책, 해양정책, 해양환경정책 등 정책적인 측면에서 연구를 하여 왔다. 그리고 한국해양과학기술원에서는 한국해양대학과 공동으로 빙해수조를 통하여 얼음과 내빙선체 등과 관련된 연구를 하고 있다. 특히, 2013년 5월 15일 우리나라가 북극이사국의 정식 옵서버국이 됨에 따라 북극해 항로에 대한 국민적 관심이 고조되고 있으나 북극해항로에 관한 연구가 일천하기 때문에 현재까지 진행된 국내외 연구결 과를 조사분석하여 북극해항로분야에서의 새로운 연구분야를 찾고자 한다.

        A Study on Development of Laptop-Based Pilots’ Ship-Handling Simulation Software

        Berthing and unberthing maneuver is essential work for marine pilots and securing the safety against risks during the maneuver is more important than anything else. Moreover, the maneuvering environment in ports and harbors has changed rapidly and got worse due to development of a new port, the advent of a new type or large-sized ship, and the rapid increase in harbor traffic. As one of measures taken to cope with such changes in the maneuvering environment and for each pilot to improve his own maneuvering ability, this paper developed laptop-based ship-handling simulator which is readily available anytime and anywhere. This paper is to develop a conning display for ship’s maneuvering and electronic chart based display widely used nowadays to represent a model ship’s movement. The displays were arranged appropriately considering pilot age, easy handling by mouse, using a maximum screen, proper arrangement of rudder, engine, thruster, tug etc and representation of information. Up to now thirteen (13) model ships were developed based on real-ship, whose mathematical model is Japanese MMG & pilots' low speed maneuver.

        Experimental Results of Ship-to-ship Stabilized Mooring System for Mobile Harbor

        A new concept of ocean transport system, called mobile harbor, was introduced as a feasibility study in Korea in 2009. Target of the mobile harbor is a short distance transport of containers with or without cargo handling cranes. Although the mobile harbor project has a lot of topics to deal with, this paper is to focus on only ship-to-ship stabilized mooring, which plays a key role in cargo handling. The ship-to-ship stabilized mooring system was developed and installed on board a barge of LOA 32m and breadth 12m. The dockside tests as sea test were carried out so as to ascertain whether the systems can work well to control the barge’s motion. The results of dockside test showed that the heave motion of the barge’s motion can be reduced by more than 45%

      • 龜裂成長을 考慮한 J-抵抗 曲線의 決定

        The fracture toughness of SCM4 was investigation for various crack ratios using unloding compliance method. In assumption of stable crack growth, crack growth amount(Δa) was obtained from measurement of compliance during a sequence of loading and unloading and J_IC was determined from J-Δa curve and blunting line. The J-integral computed at the initiation point of the slow stable crack growth was almost constant within the range of crack ratios tested in this study. The fracture toughness value thus obtained was 32.46K_gf/㎜. A reasonable J-resistance curve determination procedure is suggested by correcting the amount of overestimation in J-value which effect becomes significant when crack grows. J-value estimation according to this procedure is compared with those obtained from the other conventional methods proposed by Rice and Merkle & Corten. From the results of experiment the J-R curve of material seems to be independent on crack length.

        선박조종시뮬레이션의 근접도 평가에서 연속 분석과 목표선 분석에 관한 비교 연구

        evaluation of safety of simulated maneuvers is frequently analysed by so called goal-line or point of interest in Korea. For the purpose of warning the risk in the proximity measure composed of only the goal-line analysis, this paper utilized Korea Institute of Maritime and Fisheries Technology(KIMFT) which houses a real-time, full-mission shiphandling simulator to examine the goal-line and in-length analyses in the outbound channel of Kwangyang port as an example. It used a 15,000 TEU container ship as a model under environmental conditions of the northwestly 26-knot wind and 2.2-knot ebb current. The result of two analyses showed the probability invading the channel boundary obtained by the goal-line analysis is a little greater than that of the in-length analysis. Therefore it was acknowledged that the proximity measure by the goal-line analysis alone may be followed by some risk. In addition, this paper was to suggest the closest distance to channel boundary from the ship's edge as one of proximity measures, instead of using the ship's deviation from the centerline of channel, 우리나라의 경우 선박조종시뮬레이션을 이용한 선박 통항의 안전성 평가는 흔히 목표선 분석으로 이뤄지고 있다. 이 논문에서는 목표선 분석만으로 이뤄지는 통항 안전성 평가의 위험성을 경고할 목적으로 하나의 예로서 한국해양수산연수원의 선박조종시뮬레이터를 이용하여 15,000 TEU급 컨테이너 선박이 풍속 26노트 풍향 NW의 바람과 낙조류 2.2노트의 조류에서 광양항 항로를 따라 출항하는 시뮬레이션을 실시하고 그 결과에 대하여 목표선 분석과 연속분석을 실시하였다. 이들을 비교분석한 결과 광양항 항로 중 굴곡부의 한곳에서는 목표선 분석에 의한 침범확률이 연속 분석에 의한 침범 확률보다 다소 크게 나타나고 있는데 이는 목표선 분석만으로도 통항 안전성 평가하는 것은 위험이 따를 수 있음을 제시하는 사례로 판단된다. 그 외에 이 논문에서는 현행의 연구의 항로중심에서 선박의 중심이 벗어난 값을 이용하지 않고 선측의 끝에서 항로경계까지를 최근접거리로 하는 근접도 평가를 제시하였다.

        A Study on Minimum Number of Ship-handling Simulation Required for Evaluating Vessel’s Proximity Measure

        The Korean government has introduced and enforced maritime traffic safety assessment to secure traffic safety since 2010. The maritime traffic safety assessment is needed by law to design a new port or modify an existing one. According to Korea Maritime Safety Act, in the assessment the propriety of marine traffic system consists of the safety of channel transit and berthing/unberthing maneuver, safety of mooring, and safety of marine traffic flow. The safety of channel transit and berthing/unberthing maneuver can be evaluated only by ship-handling simulation. The ship-handling simulation is carried out by sea pilots working with the port concerned. The vessel’s proximity measure is an important factor to evaluate traffic safety. The proximity measure is composed of vessel’s closest distance to channel boundary and probability of grounding/collision. What is more, the probability of grounding becomes important. According to central limit theorem, a sample has a normal distribution on condition that its size is more than 30. However, more than 30 simulation runs bring about the increase of assessment period and difficulty of employing sea pilots. Therefore this paper is to find out minimum sample size for evaluating vessel’s proximity. First sample sets of size of 3, 5, 7, 9 etc. are selected randomly on the basis of normal distribution. And then KS test for goodness of fit and t-test for confidence interval are applied to each sample set. Finally this paper decides the minimum sample size. As a result this paper suggests the minimum sample size of 5, that is, the simulation of more than five times.

        광양항 LNG 터미널 접근항로 안전성에 관한 시뮬레이션 연구

        This study aims at examining the safety of the would-be approach channel of LNG Terminal at Kwangyang Harbour, by utilizing Captains 2000 port-design simulator. Six competent shipmasters or navigators participated in this study. The developed model ship was a 70,200DWT (138,000m3) LNG carrier. The environmental conditions were maximum flood-and-ebb current condition and wind condition. To evaluate the navigational safety, two categories were analyzed, which were measures of vessel's proximity and shiphandler's subjective evaluations. With respect to the effects of the worst environmental conditions on transit safety, it was concluded that the would-be approach channel was safe on basis of the support of four tugs of 3,200hp or more and current speed of 0.5knots or less.
