Objective This study was conducted to gather basic information of 3D CT in detecting and gaining information of esophageal foreign body (FB) models. Materials and Methods The chest model was made using PVC bottle, rubber balloon and plaster. Fish bone, Persimmon stone were used to mimic foreign bodies of esophageal model. The foreign body models were inserted into the balloon removing air from it and the balloon was sealed. The esophageal FB model was inserted into the chest model. The remaining space in the chest model was filled with fish paste and water to simulate soft tissue around esophagus. CT of chest model was reconstructed three-dimensionally by Rapidia software to make images of foreign body models. The axial CT, MPR image and VOI image were compared with real foreign body materials as to shape, size, location and orientation. Results Esophageal FB models were easily made. CT data gave good 3D images and showed realistic foreign body materials. Conclusion The results indicate the usefulness of 3D CT technique to help in diagnosis of esophageal foreign body models.

Background and Objectives This study aimed to gather three-dimensional data to detect fish bones as an esophageal foreign body model and to assess the possibility that this method could be applied for cases of real fish bone foreign body (FBFB). Materials and Method Fish bones from two species were collected and sizes were measured. Pork meat loaf was placed flat into a plastic box containing plaster cast and bones were laid over the meat layer. Another layer of meat was placed on the bones, then another layer of plaster cast, and the final layer of meat were placed. The meat-bone sandwich was regarded as a fish bone foreign body model of esophagus. The model was imaged using computed tomography (CT) scan and the CT data were reconstructed three-dimensionally making multi-planar reconstruction, maximal intensity projection, and volume rendering images. We tried to find tools to detect the shape and lying position of the FBFB model. The above tools were applied to 3 FBFB cases to verify effectiveness of the tools. Results Multi-planar reconstruction, maximal intensity projection, and volume rendering images were reconstructed easily. After single or more processing, all of the bones could be detected. The shape and lying positions could be detected using tools made from FBFB models. Conclusion Reconstructed images of CT data readily enabled the detection of fish bone in the esophageal model and real cases. Korean J Otorhinolaryngol-Head Neck Surg 2014;57(4):244-50

The Automobile industry is gradually evolving into a self driving system. With the development of ICT technology. The Steer-by-Wire system can free up interior space by removing the mechanical connection structure, which can bring the customer experience beyond the concept of conventional means of transportation. This paper is a study of actuators that can steer each wheel independently in conjunction with the steer-by-wire system. Four-Wheel independent steering is a system that can steer in many directions in a narrow space, turn in place, move sideways / diagonally, and implement vertical parking. This will bring customers a variety of different experiences. This study introduces the fourwheel independent steering-capable actuators and how to drive them.

Background and Objectives This study was conducted to gather three dimensional images from computed tomogram in detecting and gaining information about fish bones. Materials and Methods Thirty-nine fish bones and 2 chicken leg bones were used. Bones sandwiched between the cotton sheets were placed into the 3 plastic boxes. Computed tomogram of the bones in the boxes were reconstructed three-dimensionally by Xelis (Infinitt, Korea) to make images of MPR, MIP and VR images. The images were compared with real chicken bones and fish bones as to possibility of detection, finding of location and orientation, and evaluation of shape and calculation of size. Results All 41 bones were detected in all reconstructed images. Distance to the bones from reference point can be measured and orientation can be checked. Shapes were similar between matched images of all real bones. Conclusion The results indicate the usefulness of 3D reconstruction technique in getting informations about fish bones.

Computed tomography with virtual bronchoscopy shows inner shape of trachea and major bronchi with three-dimensional images. Virtual bronchoscopy can be used in cases of suspected foreign body aspiration. Virtual bronchoscopy shows the exact location of the obstructive lesion before conventional bronchoscopy. If the chest radiography is normal or suggests aspirated foreign body, virtual bronchoscopy can be considered before conventional bronchoscopy. We experienced a case of false-tooth foreign body extracted under bronchoscopy. In this case, virtual bronchoscopy was made retrospectively giving useful information about shape and orientation regarding foreign body.
