Mixture formation is affected by spray characteristics of injector and wall film flow. In this paper, spray characteristics such as size distribution, SMD, spray angle and velocity of three type injectors which have different spray patterns are measured by PMAS. Wall film flow rate of intake port are measured. From these experiments, the fuel behavior of three type injectors such as injection direction, spray angle and wall film flow is made clear. Consequently, the optimal fuel injection system and conditions for reducing spray size and minimizing the wall fuel film are found through this research.<br/>

Mixture formation is one of the important factors to improve combustion performance of an spark ignition engine. This is affected by spray and atomization characteristics of injector. In this paper, spray characteristics such as size distributions, SMD, spray angle, and velosity are measured by PMAS. Atomization levels are investigated with developed various air-assisted injectors. From these experiments, spray patterns and atomization characteristics injected from MPI injector are made clear. And these results revealed a design guide for air-assisted injector.

In the case that EGI system is applied, air-fuel mixing period is so short that a lot of fuel-film and liquid-fuel flow into cylinder. Since this fuel-film is not burnt in cylinder, it is exhausted in the form of HC emission. In. this paper, fuel-film measuring device is manufactured specially, the amount and distribution of fuel-film which flows into through valve, can be measured quantitatively using this device. And, with the spark plug in which optical fiber inserted, diffusion flame is observed at second hand. As the result of this experiment, the information of optimal spray characteristics and injection condition that minimize fuel-film development, can be built up.<br/>

In this paper, the apparatus for visualizing the wall film flow in a intake manifold and the spark plug with optical fiber for detecting the signal from diffusion flame are developed to make the HC formation mechanism clear. High speed camera system is also used to elucidate correlation the wall film flow and the diffusion flame. Using these methods, the effect of fuel injection systems such as injection direction, spray angle, atomised injection on HC emission levels is investigated. Consequently, the optimal fuel injection conditions for minimizing the wall film flow and reducing the HC emission are found through this research.
변동 공기류에 분사된 흡기관내 연료 거동 특성에 관한 연구

Since the fuel behavior injected in the intake manifold of MPI gasoline engine is effected by pulsating air flow, the fluctuated air flow generator that can simulates the air flow in an actual engine is designed and produced. Using these apparatus, fuel behavior characteristics injected in the pulsating air flow in an intake manifold under various injection timing and injection duration are measured by the hot-wire anemomter and PMAS. From these experiments, fuel injection conditions such as injection timing, injection duration and spray pattern injected from MPI injector are made clear. The goal of this research would be to give a design guide for optima] fuel injection system.<br/>
