Purpose: The purpose of this study was to assess the frequency and characteristics of occupational blood and body fluid exposure for operating room personnel during surgical procedures and identify risk factors. Methods: A self-report questionnaire was used to survey 519 operating room personnel who participated in 132 surgeries in an acute care hospital in Seoul between April 12 and 20, 2006. Results: The response rate was 82% (530/646) and analyzed total 519 except for improper 11 questionnaires. Exposure rate was 45.5% (60/132) during operations and 20.4% (106/519) for operating room personnel. By job categories, the exposure rate was as follows; anesthesiologists and nurses 31.2% (44/141), operators and assistants 22.1% (32/145), circulating nurses 12.0% (11/92), scrub nurses 11.4% (14/123). The mucous membrane-eye exposure with a high risk of transmitting infection was 6.6% (7/106) and the most frequent route of exposure was blood and body fluid touching unprotected skin. In multivariate analysis, the risk factors of exposure were services, duration of operation, a patient who had a peripheral arterial catheter line, and job category. Conclusion: Educational programs and appropriate use of personal protective equipment are necessary to prevent operating room personnel from being exposed to blood and body fluid.
항만터미널의 공급사슬보안경영활동이 경영성과에 미치는 영향

Since the 9.11 terrorist attack in 2001, fears have grown that seaports would be exploited or disrupted by the act of terrorism. As a result, to safeguard global marine trade while enabling legitimate cargoes to move faster and more efficiently through the supply chain to ports, lots of multinational initiatives and nationwide legislation have been introduced. Such newly-adopted regulations forced port terminal operators to establish the Supply Chain Security Management(SCSM) system on the global standards while carrying out their original functions of loading and discharging cargoes. This paper aims to identify the roles of terminal operators in terms of the SCSM to examine the effects of the SCSM on their managerial performance. This dissertation is organized as follows:(1) Theoretically examines the concept of the Supply Chain Management and recent academic development. In addition, it reviews precedent studies on the SCSM and business guidelines for terminal operators extracted from the ISPS code. (2) Performs empirical analyses. MANOVA is used to test the hypothesis on the relationship between types of operators and commencement of SCSM; the regression model is used to test the hypothesis on the effects of the SCSM activities on the managerial performance. 2001년 미국에서 발생한 9·11 테러 이후 항만을 이용한 테러위협 및 보안사건 발생 가능성 증가 등이 예상됨에 따라 항만터미널에서의 보안확보를 위한 국제적인 협력강화와 법령 및 제도가 새로 요구되었다. 따라서 항만 터미널에서는 전통적인 기능인 선박을 통한 화물 적양하에 관련된 역할 뿐만 아니라 다양한 국제 기준에 대응할 수 있는 공급사슬보안경영시스템(supply chain security management system, SCSM)을 구축하여 시행해야 할 필요성이 대두되었다. 본 연구에서는 항만 터미널이 ISPS 코드에 따른 보안 활동을 강제규정에 따른 요구사항을 만족시키는 것으로만 국한하지 않고 항만 터미널의 전반적인 경영 차원에서 이런 활동이 어떤 영향을 미치고 있으며 또한 경영성과에 어떻게 반영되는지 살펴보았다.
