막증류 공정에서 PE 및 PVDF 중공사막의 액체투과압력 측정에 관한 연구

막증류(membrane distillation, MD)용 분리막의 장기 내구성능에 영향을 미치는 인자인 소수성 분리막의 젖음 현상에 대한 평가 지표로 사용되는 액체투과압력(liquid entry pressure, LEP) 측정 방법을 최적화하였다. PE (polyethylene) 분리막 및 PVDF (polyvinylidene di-fluoride) 중공사 분리막의 LEP를 측정하기 위하여 20 wt%의 고농도 염수를 제조하여 원수로 사용하고 투과수의 전도도를 모니터링하였다. PE와 PVDF 중공사 분리막의 신뢰성 있는 LEP 측정을 위해서는 5 min 이상의 holing time을 두고 주입 압력을 증가시켜야 하며, 증류수 수조의 물량대비 분리막의 면적비 또한 $10m^2/m^3$ 이상으로 부여되어야 함을 확인하였다. The method measuring LEP (liquid entry pressure) was optimized to evaluate the wettabilities of hydrophobic membranes which might affect long-term durability of membrane in MD (membrane distillation) process. Conductivity of the permeate was monitored to measure the LEPs of PE (polyethylene) and PVDF (polyvinylidene di-fluoride) hollow fiber membranes from highly concentrated synthetic feed water of 20 wt% NaCl. Holding time over 5 min and the ratio of membrane area to the tank volume more than $10m^2/m^3$ were required to ensure LEP value.

In this study, the effects of applied voltage, solution pH and coexistence of other ions such as sulfate ion (${SO_4}^{2-}$) and chloride ion ($Cl^-$) were investigated on the removal of nitrate-nitrogen ($NO_3{^-}-N$) from ground water by electrodialysis. The examined operating conditions were evaluated for optimizing the removal efficiency of $NO_3{^-}-N$. Real ground water samples taken from a rural area of Yongin city and artificial ones with components similar to the real ground water were tested for the study, which contained $NO_3{^-}-N$ concentration of 17mg/L that exceeds current drinking water quality standard of 10 mg/L. The increase in the removal rate of $NO_3{^-}-N$ was observed as the applied voltage increased from 5V to 30V, while no significant increase in the removal rate appeared at the applied voltage beyond 20V during a given operating time. The removal rate appeared to get lower at both acidic and basic condition, compared to neutral pH. Coexistence of of ${SO_4}^{2-}$and $Cl^-$ demanded much longer operating time to achieve a given removal rate or to meet a certain level of treated water concentration. When nitrate ion was combined with ${SO_4}^{2-}$and $Cl^-$, the removal rate was reduced by 4.29% and 10.83%, respectively.

Fuzzy C-Means(FCM)의 단점을 극복하기 위해 제안되었던 PCM은 잡음에는 강하지만 초기 파라미터 값에 민감하고, 상대적으로 가까이에 위치한 prototype들을 형성하는 패턴들의 경우에는 최종 prototype의 위치가 겹치는 (동일한) 결과가 나올 수 있다는 단점이 있다. 이러한 PCM의 단점을 극복하기 위해 여러 방법이 제안되었지만, 본 논문에서는 PCM 알고리즘에 Interval Type 2 Fuzzy 접근 방법을 적용하여 PCM 알고리즘의 파라미터에 존재하는 Uncertainty를 제어함으로써 성능을 향상시키는 방법을 제안한다.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of post-operative exercise on body composition, psychological factors, time to flatus and length of hospital stay in stage 1~3 colorectal cancer patients. Methods: A total of 35 post surgery patients were recruited and randomly assigned to the exercise or controlled group. Participants in the exercise group exercised twice a day while participants in the control group followed the clinical pathways (CP). Results: A total of 25 participants completed the trial. Post-operative exercise resulted in a clinically meaningful, but statistically insignificant reduction in body weight (Exercise: -1.10±1.63 kg vs. CP: -0.63±1.16 kg; p=.111), fat mass (Exercise: -1.43±0.95 kg vs. CP: 0.64±4.29 kg; p=.100). When participants’ body composition were compared to their baseline values at the baseline, only the exercise group experienced a significant reduction in body weight, body mass index (BMI) and fat mass. In addition, post-operative exercise significantly improved health related quality of life (Exercise: 2.27±2.08 vs CP: -12.82±22.47; p=.008). However, there was no difference in time to flatus and the length of hospital stay between groups. Conclusion: The current pilot study suggests that the post-operative exercise program was safe and produced for health related quality of life improvements in colorectal cancer patients.

The Possibilistic C-means(PCM) was proposed to overcome some of the drawbacks associated with the Fuzzy C-means(FCM) such as improved performance for noise data. However, PCM possesses some drawbacks such as sensitivity in initial parameter values and to patterns that have relatively short distances between the prototypes. To overcome these drawbacks, we propose an interval type 2 fuzzy approach to PCM by considering uncertainty in the fuzzy parameter m in the PCM algorithm.
12주의 복합 운동프로그램이 파킨슨병 환자의 근력, 신체기능 및 유연성에 미치는 영향

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of 12 weeks combined exercise program on muscular strength, physical function, and flexibility in patients with Parkinson’s disease. A quasi-experimental study design was used. Thirty six patients with Parkinson’s disease were recruited and divided into either exercise group or control group. The 12-week combined exercise program included line dance as aerobic exercise and resistance exercise using their own body weight and thera band twice a week. Muscular strength was measured by a hand held dynamometer. Six minutes walk test was used to assess physical function. Sit and reach and back scratch test were conducted to measure flexibility. After the 12 week exercise program, the exercise group increased upper body and lower body muscle strength compared to the control group. In addition, physical function increased in the exercise group, while no change was observed in the control group. The change in flexibility between exercise and control group was not statistically significant. In conclusion, the 12 weeks combined exercise program improved muscular strength and physical function in patients with Parkinson’s disease.
