The electrostatic chuck is a technology that uses electroadhesion to attach objects and is widely used in semiconductor and display processes. This research conducted Maxwell by varying parameters to examine the distribution and variations of chucking force in a bipolar-type ESC. The parameters that were changed include the material properties of the dielectric layer and attachment substrate, applied voltage to the electrode, and the gap and width between the electrodes. The analysis results showed that as the relative permittivity of the dielectric layer and substrate increased, the chucking force also increased, with the relative permittivity of the substrate having a greater impact on the chucking force. And increasing the applied voltage led to an increase in both the chucking force and its rate of change. Lastly, as the gap between the electrodes increased, the chucking force rapidly decreased until a certain distance, after which the decrease became less significant. On the contrary, increasing the electrode width resulted in a rapid increase in the chucking force until a certain width, beyond which the increase became less pronounced, eventually converging to a chucking force of 1700 Pa. This paper is expected to have high potential for the development and research of ESC for OLED deposition.

Failure of connecting rod in automotive engine may cause catastrophic situation. The corner radius at small end has an effect on stress raising. To investigate the stress distribution in connecting rod during operation, the finite element analysis was used by giving possible maximum tension and compression. Excessive sizing after forging connecting rod may result in the tensile residual stress which lower the fatigue life and cause premature failures. It was shown that when the sizing amount is too large, the location of high tensile residual stress coincide with that of high stress amplitude during operation through the elastic-plastic finite element analysis. The endurance limit moves down due to the surface finish and decarburization, which combines with the movement of resultant stress points to dangerous range. It was concluded that the precise control of sizing and enough corner radius are necessary to a reliability of connecting rod.
산업체 연계 프로젝트 기반 학습(PBL)을 활용한 성형해석 실습 교과목 운영 사례 연구

The purpose of this study is to conduct Project Based Learning (PBL) in collaboration with industry experts to operate practical subjects in an industry-university-linked teaching method. PBL is a teaching method in which students can learn through actively engaging in real-world and personally meaningful projects. For a long period of time, PBL methodologies have been found to be especially effective in engineering education. This case study deals with the operational results of a practice subject which has been conducted over three years from 2017 to 2019 in Korea University of Technology and Education. The course is for the 4th grade students in the school of mechatronics engineering. The results of the surveyed learning outcomes (for example, Program Outcomes and Course Learning Outcomes) have been analyzed and reflected in the next years for the Continuous Quality Improvement. By working on practical projects linked to industry, students have been able to develop so-called 4C’s capabilities which are Critical Thinking, Creativity, Communication and Collaboration.

Since ABEEK ("Accreditation Board for Engineering Education of Korea") began its accreditation in 2001, the 595 programs in 100 institutions have been accredited, and now the number of accredited programs is continuously increasing. On the other hand, NCS ("National Competency Standards") which is directed by government, has been also introduced in recent years, and it becomes the center of attentions of many universities in Korea. Each of these 2 systems has its own strengths and weaknesses, even though their main purposes are very similar. This paper deals with the comparison between the curriculum based on NCS with ABEEK. And also, the examples of making the curriculum based on the NCS would be introduced. At the conclusion, some suggestions for the new NCS system would be proposed.

In this study, the formability and thickness distributions for elliptical yoke products, which were produced by multi-stage deep drawing processes, has been obtained by finite element analysis. The results of the analysis were compared with those of experiments for validity.

In this study. the effective and reliable contact algorithm module and seat belt module have been developed and applied to the crashworthiness analysis finite-element program. The contact module has been improved by HITA (Hierarchy Territory Algorithm) and DENA (Defence Node Algorithm). so it can be possible to simulate the two-body contact problem of remarkably different material properties. Also finite-element seat belt module has been developed and simulated. The results were compared with those of LS-DYNA3D.

The crashworthiness analyses are carried out for the rectangular section which have an important role of absorbing the impact energy during fromtal crash. The treatments of hourglass controls and various contact types are addressed. Two hourglass control schemes, viscous and elastic, and three types of contacts, sliding with separation, self-contact and one way algorithm, are imtroduced and examined in crash analyses of frame. And the effect of initial imperfection is investigated and verified by experiment.

In this research, the attractive force of Coulomb type electrostatic chuck(ESC), which consisted of alumina dielectric, on glass substrate was studied by using the finite element analysis. The attractive force is caused by the high electrical resistance which occurs in contact region between glass substrate and dielectric layer. This research tries the simple geometrical modeling of ESC and glass substrate with air gap. The influences of the applied voltage, and air gap are investigated. When alumina dielectric with 1014 Ω·cm, 1.5 kV voltage, and 0.01 mm air gap were applied, electrostatic force in this work reached to 4 gf/㎠. This results show that the modeling of air gap is essential to derive the attractive force of the ESC.

This study investigates the performance of accreditation programs for engineering education in Korea using questionnaire. The survey includes workers who graduated the accreditation programs, supervisors of the workplace of the graduates, and professors or related persons of the universities. Overall the results shows that related three groups of individuals evaluates the program positively. The accreditation programs have positive effect on the labor market entrance and performances in the workplace estimated by earnings. Compared with major courses, courses of liberal arts and social science needs revision to have more positive response from graduates and employers. Also the program has to give more attention to strengthen the competencies related to professionals and ethics related with job, and adjustment in the work environment. 본 논문은 공학인증 프로그램의 성과를 측정하기 위해 인증졸업생, 산업체, 대학관계자를 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였고 전체적으로 공학인증 교과목, 졸업생의 조직 내 활동 및 업무수행능력에 대해 긍정적인 평가를 하고 있음을 결과로 제시하였다. 인증졸업생의 월평균 임금수준은 4년제 대졸자 또는 공학전공자보다 높은 것으로 나타나 인증졸업생이 노동시장에서 긍정적인 평가를 받고 있음을 알 수 있는데 이는 대기업에 근무하는 것이 중요한 이유일 것이다. 전문교양, 투철한 직업의식과 윤리의식, 조직문화 적응에 대한 프로그램 지원이 상대적으로 더 필요한 것으로 파악되며 인증졸업생에 대한 취업우대제도와 기사자격 취득 시 필기시험 면제 제도의 도입에 대해 산업체에서 긍정적인 반응을 보이는 것으로 파악되었다.
