Multiplex PCR and immunohistochemistry were used to detect and differentiate between porcine circovirus (PCV) type-I and the PCV associated with postweaning multisystemic wasting syndrome (PMWS). Unique DNA product to PCV type-II was confirmed the some organs including lymph nodes, tonsil and spleen from eight pigs in Jeju by multiplex PCR. In this study, the samples were tested by a multiplex PCR assay to determine the type of PCV in each case; all cases were PCV type-II positive. PCV type-II was identified not only in typical PMWS cases, but also in field cases submitted with various clinical histories, some of which were not suggestive of PMWS. Immunohistochemically PCV type-II antigen was detected in macrophage-like cells in the tonsil, liver, lymph nodes and spleen, while some hepatocytes and renal tubular epithelial cells were also positive to the virus. This study suggested that PCV type-II is one of the causative agents of PMWS as well as the major type of PCV in the affected pigs in Jeju.

Environmental pollution is caused by increasing n㎛ber of mankind and development of technology. People are continuously interested in this subject more than any other subjects. As population grows, the waste they make is increasing and the amount of incineration of waste matter also has increased. However, incinerating waste has several flaws, such as emission of acid gas, nitrogen oxides, and other pollutants. Therefore, prevention equipment technology that has high removal efficiency is required. Recently, rising interest in enforcement of environment regulation and environment itself brought the spreading application of rotary atomizer. However, problems such as blockage from the wheel disk caused the removal efficiency to decrease. In this paper, rotary atomizer droplet size with highly reliable facility is reestimated and the study to solve the blockage problem as well as the removal efficiency depending on droplet size were studied. In the experimental result, according to the nozzle size, as the size got smaller, emission speed and emission pressure increased and caused the droplet size to get smaller. By actually doing the experiment, which was about if droplet size decreases, will emission consistency also decrease, the effectiveness was proven and so was stability of the operation. Therefore, from this study, it can be said that by preventing the nozzle blockage problem of the rotary atomizer and increasing removal efficiency, the form the basis were made, which can be extensively applied.

This study investigated the acceleration characteristics of rock slopes when earthquakes, which have not been studied much in Korea, occur. The rock slope was modeled with a similar raw of 1/20 in consideration of the height(10m), roughness, strength, and the joint dips(20°). After the completion of the model, a shaking table tests was conducted according to the magnitude of the acceleration and the type of seismic wave. The maximum acceleration was greater in the short-period seismic wave than in the long-period seismic wave, and the maximum acceleration was larger in the small acceleration. The rock slope was close to a rigid block and a structure more vulnerable to the long period wave than to the short period wave. In the event of an earthquake smaller than the domestic earthquake-resistant maximum design acceleration(0.154g), safety management of the rock slope was required.

This study investigated the so far little-researched characteristics of the behaviors of rock slopes at the time of an earthquake. For the selection of the rock block, a proper model was formed by applying the similarity in consideration of the roughness and strength of the rock slope(10m) on the site, and shaking table tests were carried out according to seismic excitement acceleration, and seismic waves. In the case of the inclination angle of the joint plane of 20°, the long period wave at 0.3g or more at the time of the seismic excitement surpassed the length of 100mm, the permissible displacement (0.01H, H:slope height), which brought about the collapse of the rock; the short period wave surpassed the permissible displacement at 0.1g, which caused the collapse of the slope. The rock slope was close to a rigid block and a structure more vulnerable to the long period wave than to the short period wave. It collapsed in the short period wave even at the seismic amplitude smaller than the maximum design acceleration in Korea.
학교주변 소음실태의 비교조사 연구 : 제주도 초·중학교를 중심으로

The conditions of noise pollution around the elementary schods, the middle schools, and the high schools near the highway around the Cheju-do and those in cheju city are investigated. Thirteen percents of schools near the highway around the Cheju-do suffer noise pollution. So do sixty percents of schools in Cheju city. The causes of noise are due to the location of schools near the road and the bus stops. klaxon and overspeed of cars. and insufficient measure for the noise control.

The method of item presntation was consisted of three types in the exa-mination concerning the same unit of study ; descriptive type of question, pictorial type of question, experimental type of questim. Among three types of questions student was allowed to select &answer one type of question which seemed to be favorable to him or her. The result showes that excellent students in achievement have a tendency to choose descrptive type of question, while the rest of the student do not make a clear difference in choosing any type of questions except descriptive type of questions. The research questionnaire also reveales that students are fond of this kind of questions and they respond i t helps improve their study.
