Comparative study of tip leakage vortex trajectory and cavitation in an axial flow pump with various tip clearances

        Xi Shen,Desheng Zhang,Bin Xu,Haoran Wu,Peng Wang,Weidong Shi 대한기계학회 2022 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.36 No.3

In order to analyze the effect of blade tip-gap size on the tip leakage vortex (TLV) dynamics and TLV-induced cavitation, a scaled axial flow pump model was created and numerically studied by the combination of an improved SST k-ω turbulence model and a homogeneous cavitation model. The trajectories of TLV core was obtained by using the swirling strength method at different tip-gap sizes vary significantly. The scale of TLV increases as the tip-gap size increases, and the starting point of TLV is sliding further downstream along the blade chord. The angle between the blade suction surface and the TLV also presented an increasing trend with the tip-gap size. The statistics of the velocity normal to the tip chord, as well as the turbulent kinetic energy (KTE) distributions were employed to illustrate a more disordered flow field, which was generated in the tip clearance in a larger amount of leaking flow due to the increased tip-gap size. The in-plain static pressure and vapor volume fraction distributions at different blade chord sections, coupled with three-dimensional cavitation patterns among three tip gaps, are further analyzed to verify the wandering motion of TLV, which shows good agreement with the visualization experiment. Considering the adverse effect of the TLV cavitation, a small tip gap is recommended for improving the axial flow pump performance.

        Up-Conversion Nanoparticles/PMMA Composites for Light-Emitting Applications

        Yongling Zhang,Peng Lv,Xiang Liu,Haoyuan Chi,Guoqing Xi,Zhengkun Qin 성균관대학교(자연과학캠퍼스) 성균나노과학기술원 2020 NANO Vol.15 No.03

In this paper, we prepared KMnF3:Yb3+, Er3+ nanoparticles (NPs)/polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) composites, NaYF4:Yb3+, Tm3+NPs/PMMA composites and NaYF4Yb3+, Er3+NPs/PMMA composites by in situ polymerization, and these NPs/PMMA composites can emit red, blue and green up-conversion fluorescence excited by 980nm, respectively. The mixed white NPs/PMMA composites were obtained by adjusting the doping ratio of the above three NPs. These NPs/PMMA composites are transparent. We tested the up-conversion fluorescence spectra of all the NPs and NPs/PMMA composites, under 980 nm excitation. The up-conversion luminescence spectra of the NPs and NPs/PMMA composites are consistent, which further indicates that the in situ polymerization has not changed the chemical structure of the NPs. Then, we prepared transparent bulk polymers by curing these NPs/PMMA composites. Under 980 nm laser excitation, these NPs/PMMA bulk polymers can emit red, blue, green and white up-conversion emissions, respectively. The results indicate that the NPs/PMMA composites can be applied to three-dimensional (3D) display.

Prognostic Significance of Tumor Mutation Burden among Patients with Non-small Cell Lung Cancer Who Received Platinum-based Adjuvant Chemotherapy: An Exploratory Study

        Wei-Xi Shen,Guang-Hua Li,Yu-Jia Li,Peng-Fei Zhang,Jia-Xing Yu,Di Shang,Qiu-Shi Wang 대한암예방학회 2023 Journal of cancer prevention Vol.28 No.4

This study aimed to investigate the prognostic significance of tumor mutation burden (TMB) among patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) who received platinum-based adjuvant chemotherapy. Tumor tissue specimens after surgical resection were collected for DNA extraction. Somatic mutation detection and TMB analysis were conducted using next-generation sequencing (NGS). Recurrence status of the patients was assessed in the hospital during the adjuvant chemotherapy period, and long-term survival data of patients were obtained by telephone follow-up. Univariate analysis between TMB status and prognosis was carried out by survival analysis. A retrospective review of 78 patients with non-squamous NSCLC who received platinum-based adjuvant chemotherapy showed a median disease-free survival of 3.6 years and median overall survival (OS) of 5.3 years. NGS analysis exhibited that the most common mutated somatic genes among the 78 patients were tumor suppressor protein p53 (TP53), epidermal growth factor receptor, low-density lipoprotein receptor related protein 1B, DNA methyltransferase 3 alpha and FAT atypical cadherin 3, and their prevalence was 56.4%, 48.7%, 37.2%, 30.7%, and 25.6%, respectively. TMB status was divided into TMB-L (≤ 4.5/Mb) and TMB-H (> 4.5/Mb) based on the median TMB threshold. Relevance of TMB to prognosis suggested that the median OS of patients with TMB-L was significantly longer than that of patients with TMB-H (NR vs. 4.6, P = 0.014). Higher TMB status conferred a worse implication on OS among patients with non-squamous NSCLC who received platinum-based adjuvant chemotherapy.

Copper Phthalocyanine Functionalized Polystyrene Superfine Fibers for the Photodegradation of Methyl Orange

        Kexin Peng,Jiankui Guo,Haifeng Chen,Mali Xie,Xi Zhang,Xudong Huang,Guiying Xing,Linjun Shao,Chenze Qi 한국섬유공학회 2023 Fibers and polymers Vol.24 No.11

In this paper, copper phthalocyanine and polystyrene composite superfine fibers were readily prepared by electrospinning technology. After treating these composite fibers with paraformaldehyde in concentrated H2SO4 solution, the copper phthalocyanine molecules were covalently bonded to the polystyrene molecules. Meanwhile, the polystyrene molecules in the fibers were cross-linked to endow these fibers with excellent solvent resistance. The photocatalytic performance of this novel fibrous catalyst was evaluated by photodegradation of methyl orange in the presence of H2O2. The effects of light source, H2O2 dosage, catalyst loading, and temperature on the fiber catalyzed photodegradation of methyl orange were carefully studied. The photodegradation percentage of methyl orange in aqueous solution was up to ~ 97% under optimized reaction conditions. At last, this fibrous catalyst was readily recovered by simple filtration and reused for three times with satisfied photodegradation activities. In all, we have developed a facile way to prepare copper phthalocyanine functionalized polystyrene superfine fibers with excellent photocatalytic performance.

Comparative Analysis of the Genomes of Bombyx mandarina and Bombyx mori Nucleopolyhedroviruses

        Yi-Peng Xu,Zheng-Pei Ye,Chang-Ying Niu,Yan-Yuan Bao,Wen-Bing Wang,Wei-De Shen,Chuan-Xi Zhang 한국미생물학회 2010 The journal of microbiology Vol.48 No.1

The Bombyx mandarina nucleopolyhedrovirus (BomaNPV) S1 strain can infect the silkworm, Bombyx mori, but is significantly less virulent than B. mori nucleopolyhedrovirus (BmNPV) T3 strain. The complete nucleotide sequence of the S1 strain of BomaNPV was determined and compared with the BmNPV T3 strain. The circular, double stranded DNA genome of the S1 strain was 126,770 nucleotides long (GenBank accession no. FJ882854), with a G+C content of 40.23%. The genome contained 133 potential ORFs. Most of the putative proteins were more than 96% identical to homologs in the BmNPV T3 strain, except for bro-a, lef-12,bro-c, and bro-d. Compared with the BmNPV T3 strain, however, this genome did not encode the bro-b and bro-e genes. In addition, hr1 lacked two repeat units, while hr2L, hr2R, hr3, hr4L, hr4R, and hr5 were similar to the corresponding hrs in the T3 strain. The sequence strongly suggested that BomaNPV and BmNPV are variants with each other, and supported the idea that baculovirus strain heterogeneity may often be caused by variation in the hrs and bro genes.

Enhanced morphology and hydrophilicity of PVDF flat membrane with modified CaCO3@SMA additive via thermally induced phase separation method

        Zhichao Zhang,Wei Wang,Xin Xu,Xi Liu,Yuanling Li,Peng Zhang 한국공업화학회 2022 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.107 No.-

Modified CaCO3@SMA nanoparticles obtained by coordination reaction between poly(styrene-co-maleicanhydride) (SMA) and calcium carbonate (CaCO3) nanoparticles were adopted as additive to preparepolyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) flat membrane via thermally induced phase separation (TIPS) methodwith dioctyl phthalate (DOP) and dibutyl phthalate (DBP) as mixed diluent. The CaCO3 nanoparticlesmodified by SMA effectively reduced the adverse agglomeration of nanoparticles and made the additivedisperse evenly in PVDF matrix. The presence of modified CaCO3@SMA changed the membrane morphologyfrom dispersed spherulites with large pores to fuzzy dendrite structures with uniform pore sizes. Themembrane pore sizes, pore size distribution and tensile strength were significantly improved comparedto both virgin membranes and those containing unmodified CaCO3 nanoparticles. After the CaCO3 waspickled, the porosity and the connectivity between membrane pores were greatly enhanced, resultingin a significant increase in pure water flux. At the same time, the amphiphilic SMA fixed in and on themembrane surface improved the hydrophilic and anti-fouling properties demonstrated in a three-cycletest. The present study provided a potential TIPS method for the fabrication of PVDF membrane combinedwith a simple strategy of modified inorganic particle additive.

Pd Nanoparticles Self-Assembled on Fluorine-Modified MWCNTs as Electro-Catalysts for Methanol Electro-Oxidation

        Xiao-Feng Zhang,Peng Dong,Ying-Jie Zhang,Xi-Kun Yang,Shu-Biao Xia,Zhen-Hua Jin,Ming-Li Xu 성균관대학교(자연과학캠퍼스) 성균나노과학기술원 2017 NANO Vol.12 No.3

Multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were modified by hydrogen fluoride (HF) in a simple method. With the help of fluorine, Pd nanoparticles (3.9 nm) synthesized by a one-step photochemical reduction were uniformly self-assembled on the active sites of functionalized MWCNTs and a new catalyst (Pd/HF-MWCNT) was obtained. UV–Vis absorption spectra, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) were used. The results demonstrated that –F groups were introduced onto the surface of MWCNTs and C–F chemical bonds were formed. In addition, the electronic structure of Pd was changed. Pd–F coordination bond maybe formed between F atom and Pd atom. Cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry tests indicated that electrocatalytic activity of Pd/HF-MWCNTs catalyst for methanol in alkaline medium was about 1.6 times higher than that of the commercial Pd/C (JM) catalyst at the same condition. This new functionalized method has the advantages of simple step and safe operation. It is very significant to improve the wide application of MWCNTs and the commercial development of direct methanol fuel cells (DMFCs).

Inhibition of RIPK1-dependent regulated acinar cell necrosis provides protection against acute pancreatitis via the RIPK1/NF- κB/AQP8 pathway

        Gang Wang,Peng-yu Duan,Yuan Ma,Xi-na Li,Feng-zhi Qu,Liang Ji,Xiao-yu Guo,Wang-jun Zhang,Fan Xiao,Le Li,Ji-sheng Hu,Bei Sun 생화학분자생물학회 2019 Experimental and molecular medicine Vol.51 No.-

Currently, preliminary results have confirmed the existence of receptor-interacting protein kinase 3 (RIPK3) and mixed lineage kinase domain-like protein (MLKL)-dependent necroptosis of pancreatic acinar cells during early acute pancreatitis (AP), which might be a potential target for the effective regulation of necroinflammatory injury. However, the exact effect of receptor-interacting protein kinase 1 (RIPK1)-dependent regulated acinar cell necrosis on AP is still uncertain. In our study, we first explored the changes in the degree of local and systemic inflammation in AP rats when the activation of acinar cell RIPK1 was inhibited. The RIPK1 inhibitor Nec-1 was used to treat rats, and the levels of related inflammatory markers, necrosis indicators and apoptotic indicators were measured. Changes in pancreatic nuclear factor κB (NF-κB) and aquaporin 8 (AQP8) expression were noted. Next, the expression of AQP8 in AR42J cells was inhibited, and the degree of cell necrosis and inflammatory damage was found to be significantly reduced. Most importantly, we demonstrated that the RIPK1/NF-ĸB/AQP8 axis might be a potential regulatory pathway mediating RIPK1-dependent regulated acinar cell necrosis in early AP. Finally, we used the NF-κB inhibitor PDTC and Nec-1 to treat rats in different groups and measured the degree of pathological pancreatic injury, the activation of RIPK1, and the expression of NF-κB and AQP8. In summary, we hypothesized that there might be a RIPK1/NF-ĸB/AQP8 pathway controlling RIPK1-dependent regulated necrosis of acinar cells in AP, which might be a promising therapeutic target against AP-related injury.
