Background: The effectiveness of some therapeutic modalities for cutaneous sporotrichosis may be changed depending on the individual and geographic characteristics, and the clinical type. Itraconazole has been known to be effective for it, however, there have been no standard and ideal guideline on the oral dosage and duration yet. Objective 8: Methods: In this study, we evaluated the effectiveness of oral itraconazole in patients with cutaneous sporotrichosis in relation to dosage and clinical status. The observation of 17 patients with sporotrichosis were made retrospectively, Oral itraconazole was administered at the dose of 200 mg daily in 15 adults over 18 years old and 100 mg in the other 2 children. Results: The duration for healing was within 30 days in 4 cases, within 60 days in 4 cases, within 90 days in 2 cases, within 120 days in 3 cases, and within 150 days of therapy in 2 cases. The average duration in all cases was 12.1 ± 8.6 weeks. Comparison our results to the previous reported one revealed that more shorter treatment time was needed in cases treated with 200 mg daily than that with 100 mg. There was no treatment failure by drug intolerance or resistance. The duration for healing was significantly shorter in the patient groups with prevalence duration more than 5 months, however there was not any significant difference in sex of patients, and the clinical types. The cases with the lesion on the face and cases with fixed type tended to be healed more rapidly than the others, Conclusion: Oral itraconazole may be a safe and effective antifungal agent for the treatment of cutaneous sporotrichosis in a daily dose of 200 mg for 3 months on the average. However, duration for healing could be influenced by the clinical status.

Thymoma is associated with myasthenia gravis, Pure red cell aplasia, and autoimmune diseases such as autoimmune hemolytic anemia, aplastic anemia, and hypogammaglobulinemia. It's association with aplastic anemia is rare and aplastic anemia appearing after surgical removal of thymoma is especially rare. The authors hereby report a case of aplastic anemia occuring in a patient who was diagnosed with thymoma and myasthenia gravis and had the tumor surgically removed. The patient was treated with anti-thymocyte globulin, cyclosporin, and prednisolone, and showed partial remission with hematologic improvements after 12 months.

A 10 years old, intact male, Maltese dog with clinical signs of labored respiration, exercise intolerance and increasing of coughing was referred to the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital of Chungnam National University. Physical examination revealed tachycardia, panting and mild cyanosis. This case was diagnosed as mitral valve insufficiency by clinical signs, ascultation, blood chemistry, radiography and electrocardiography. This dog was treated with ACE inhibitor (enalapril), diuretics (furosemide) and bronchodilator (aminophylline) for 14 days. After treatment, clnical signs were disappeared and also this dog was needed to be continuous monitoring and sodium restricted diet.

The community structures of benthic macro-invertebrates and insects of reservoirs Jeongyang and Pakasil in Hapcheon-gun were studied. The surveyed sites were three streams and waterfronts of each lake. The Collection was performed from April to October of 2005. As a result, total macreo-invertebrates collected in the reservoir Jeongyang were 3 phyla, 4 classes, 12 orders, 29 families and 56 species. In insects, 12 orders, 71 families and 167 species were identified. Total macro-invertebrates collectd in the reservoir Paksil were 2 phyla, 3 classes, 8 orders, 19 families and 36 species. In insects, 11orders, 50 families and 137 species were identified.Dominant species of benthic macro-invertebrates and insects in reservoir Jeongyang were Chiromomus sp and Nysius plebejus respectively. Dominant species of benthic macro-invertebrates and insects in reservoir Paksil were Physella acuta and Nysius plebejus respectively. The total species richness and species diversity of benthic macro-invertebrates in the reservoir Jeongyang was 16.88 and 1.43 respectively. The total species richness and species diversidty of benthic macro-invertebrates in the reservoir Paksil was 12.12 and 1.10 respectively. The total species richness and species diversity of insects in the reservoir Jeongyang was 56.65 and 1.99 respectively. The total species richness and species diversity of benthic macro-invertebrates in the reservoir Paksil was 47.65. and 0.90 respectively.

The community structures of benthic macroinvertebrates and insects of reservoirs Yeoncho and Gucheon in Is. Geoje were studied. The surveyed sites were three streams and waterfronts each lake. The Collection was performed from May to October of 2004. As a result, total macroinvertabrates collected in the reservoir Yeoncho were 2 phyla, 2 classes, 8 orders, 15 families, 17 genera and 18 species. IN insects, 12 orders, 52 families, 89 genera and 95 species were identifies. Total macroinvertabrates collected in the reservoir Gucheon were 3 phyla, 4 classes, 10 orders, 15 families, 18 genera and 18 species. In insects, 8 orders, 45 families, 92 genera and 101 species were identified. Dominant species of benthic macroinvertebrates and insects in reservoir Yeoncho were Macrobrachium nipponense and Nysius(Nysius) plebejus respectively. The total species richness and species diversity of benthic macroinvertebrates in the reservoir Yeoncho was 32.78 and 1,77 respectively. The total species richness and species diversity of benthic macroinvertertebrates in the reservoir Gucheon was 36.48 and 1.88 respectively.
Catalytic deoxygenation of oleic acid over a Ni-CeZrO<sub>2</sub> catalyst

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Ni-loaded Ce<SUB>0.6</SUB>Zr<SUB>0.4</SUB>O<SUB>2</SUB> catalysts were prepared by a co-precipitation method and subsequently employed in the deoxygenation of oleic acid under solvent-free conditions. Among the prepared catalysts, the 20 wt% Ni-Ce<SUB>0.6</SUB>Zr<SUB>0.4</SUB>O<SUB>2</SUB> catalyst exhibited the highest catalytic activity, i.e., 98.3% oleic acid conversion, with 33.9% C<SUB>9</SUB>-C<SUB>17</SUB> selectivity, and a 95.7% oxygen removal rate. The basic fuel properties of the obtained products were then examined to determine their potential for use in a diesel engine. The product produced using the 20 wt% Ni-Ce<SUB>0.6</SUB>Zr<SUB>0.4</SUB>O<SUB>2</SUB> catalyst exhibited a particularly high calorific value (i.e., 10213 cal/g, similar to that of commercial diesel, i.e., 10220 cal/g), the lowest viscosity (25.2cP), and the lowest solidification temperature (−15 °C).</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Biofuel was produced by deoxygenation of oleic acid over Ni-Ce<SUB>0.6</SUB>Zr<SUB>0.4</SUB>O<SUB>2.</SUB> </LI> <LI> The Ni-loaded Ce<SUB>0.6</SUB>Zr<SUB>0.4</SUB>O<SUB>2</SUB> catalyst containing 20 wt% Ni loading was optimal. </LI> <LI> 20 wt% Ni-Ce<SUB>0.6</SUB>Zr<SUB>0.4</SUB>O<SUB>2</SUB> exhibited 98.3% conversion and 33.9% selectivity. </LI> <LI> Furthermore, this catalyst showed a superior oxygen removal rate (95.7%). </LI> <LI> The biofuel produced via this catalyst showed a high calorific value (10213 cal/g). </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

<P>Many volatile compounds, such as isoprene, a precursor used in the synthesis of natural rubber, have been produced through fermentation using genetically engineered microorganisms. Despite this biotechnological success, measuring the concentrations of volatile compounds during fermentation is difficult because of their high volatility. In current systems, off-line analytical methods usually lead to product loss, whereas on-line methods raise the production cost due to the requirement of complex devices. Here, we developed a novel on-line gas chromatography (GC)-based system for analyzing the concentration of isoprene with the aim to minimize the cost and requirement for devices as compared to current strategies. In this system, a programmable logic controller is used to combine conventional GC with a syringe pump module (SPM) directly connected to the exhaust pipe of the fermentor, and isoprene-containing samples are continuously pumped from the SPM into the GC using an air cylinder recycle stream. We showed that this novel system enables isoprene analysis during fermentation with convenient equipment and without the requirement of an expensive desorption tube. 인삼의 재배년근별, 국내산지별 및 국가별 무기물의 분포를 조사하기 위하여 시험한 결과 Mn은 2년근에 비하여 5년근에서 4배 가까운 증가추세를 나타내었다. 재배산지별로 볼 때 P은 각 지역별로 큰 차이를 나타내지 않았다. 한편 각국 인삼별로는 중국 전칠삼에서 N의 함량이 적게 나타났으며 P은 한국산 정상흥삼에서 높게 나타났다. Mineral compositions in various ginseng, which was grown in different region, different age, were analyzed by atomic absorption spectrophotometer. Mn^(++) content in ginseng of five years old was four times higher than that of two years old, suggesting that the amount of Mn^(++) would be increased as they are cultivated. The content of phosphate in the various ginseng did not show much difference, whereas that of Ca^(++), Mn^(++) did. Korean red ginseng revealed much higher in Mn^(++) content than that of others investigated. When the amount of N was compared, San Chi, Chinese ginseng was significantly lowered. Korean red ginseng of 100g contains highest phosphate ion of 328.3㎎.
