        In this paper, we described about evaluation of human sensibility using park assist system of the commercial vehicle. The perpendicular parking and parallel parking have been carried out as a user test and subjects are classified as beginning drivers, drivers with less than 1 year experience and over 3 years experience. As a result, parking duration of beginning drivers and drivers with less than 1 year experience who use automatic parking assistance system is similar to drivers with over 3 years experience. However error occurred according to sensor position and distance between vehicle and parking space. And also it occurred that the vehicle leaves from parking line or does not recognize the parking space. Therefore, if we improve its completeness by compensating problems that came up from this evaluation and distribute the automatic parking assistance system, it is expected that the park assistance system is to help driver providing convenience of parking.

        도시녹지 유형에 따른 휘발성유기화합물 농도 특성

        Objectives: The occurrence characteristics of BTEXS and phytoncides were investigated by type of urban forest. Methods: Four types of urban green space (Hongneung Forest, Mt. Chunjang, residential park, and traffic island) and Gwangneung Forest were selected. Monitoring of phytoncides and BTEXS was conducted considering the activity times of urban residents (five times per day) using a Tenax TA tube and suction pump in June 2017 (one day). Results: Phytoncide concentrations were ranked as Gwangneung Forest>Hongneung Forest>Mt. Cheonjang> traffic island>residential park. Relatively high concentrations of phytoncides were also identified in the urban forest. There was no significant difference between Gwangneung Forest and the urban forest. BTEXS concentrations were ranked as traffic island>residential park>Hongneung Forest>Gwangneung Forest>Mt. Cheonjang. Traffic island and residential park showed high levels of BTEXS depending on the inflow of vehicles. The difference in concentration by time was significant for the traffic island in particular. Pollutant levels in Hongneung Forest were as low as in Gwangneung Forest. Conclusion: The concentrations of phytoncides and BTEXS were different by types of urban green space, and the potential for health and hygiene of urban forests were able to be investigated. This study is expected to provide as basic data for the creation of urban forest spaces in the future.

        Identification of Epithelial-Mesenchymal Transition-related Target Genes Induced by the Mutation of Smad3 Linker Phosphorylation

        <P><B>Background</B></P><P>Smad3 linker phosphorylation plays essential roles in tumor progression and metastasis. We have previously reported that the mutation of Smad3 linker phosphorylation sites (Smad3-Erk/Pro-directed kinase site mutant constructs [EPSM]) markedly reduced the tumor progression while increasing the lung metastasis in breast cancer.</P><P><B>Methods</B></P><P>We performed high-throughput RNA-Sequencing of the human prostate cancer cell lines infected with adenoviral Smad3-EPSM to identify the genes regulated by Smad3-EPSM.</P><P><B>Results</B></P><P>In this study, we identified genes which are differentially regulated in the presence of Smad3-EPSM. We first confirmed that Smad3-EPSM strongly enhanced a capability of cell motility and invasiveness as well as the expression of epithelial-mesenchymal transition marker genes, <I>CDH2</I>, <I>SNAI1</I>, and <I>ZEB1</I> in response to TGF-β1 in human pancreatic and prostate cancer cell lines. We identified <I>GADD45B</I>, <I>CTGF</I>, and <I>JUNB</I> genes in the expression profiles associated with cell motility and invasiveness induced by the Smad3-EPSM.</P><P><B>Conclusions</B></P><P>These results suggested that inhibition of Smad3 linker phosphorylation may enhance cell motility and invasiveness by inducing expression of <I>GADD45B</I>, <I>CTGF</I>, and <I>JUNB</I> genes in various cancers.</P>

      • Arctic Primary Aerosol Production Strongly Influenced by Riverine Organic Matter

        <P>The sources of primary and secondary aerosols in the Arctic are still poorly known. A number of surface seawater samples-with varying degrees of Arctic riverine and sea ice influences-were used in a sea spray generation chamber to test them for their potential to produce sea spray aerosols (SSA) and cloud condensation nuclei (CCN). Our interdisciplinary data showed that both sea salt and organic matter (OM) significantly influenced the SSA production. The number concentration of SSA in the coastal samples was negatively correlated with salinity and positively correlated with a number of OM tracers, including dissolved and chromophoric organic carbon (DOC, CDOM), marine microgels and chlorophyll <I>a</I> (Chl-<I>a</I>) but not for viral and bacterial abundances; indicating that OM of riverine origin enhances primary aerosol production. When all samples were considered, transparent exopolymer particles (TEP) were found to be the best indicator correlating positively with the ratio number concentration of SSA/salinity. CCN efficiency was not observed to differ between the SSA from the various samples, despite differences in organic characteristics. It is suggested that the large amount of freshwater from river runoff have a substantial impact on primary aerosols production mechanisms, possibly affecting the cloud radiative forcing.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>

      • Inactivation of the PtdIns(4)P phosphatase Sac1 at the Golgi by H<sub>2</sub>O<sub>2</sub> produced via Ca<sup>2+</sup>-dependent Duox in EGF-stimulated cells

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Binding of epidermal growth factor (EGF) to its cell surface receptor induces production of H<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>2</SUB>, which serves as an intracellular messenger. We have shown that exogenous H<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>2</SUB> reversibly inactivates the phosphatidylinositol 4-phosphate [PtdIns(4)P] phosphatase Sac1 (suppressor of actin 1) at the Golgi complex of mammalian cells by oxidizing its catalytic cysteine residue and thereby increases both the amount of Golgi PtdIns(4)P and the rate of protein secretion. Here we investigated the effects of EGF on Sac1 oxidation and PtdIns(4)P abundance at the Golgi in A431 cells. EGF induced a transient increase in Golgi PtdIns(4)P as well as a transient oxidation of Sac1 in a manner dependent on elevation of the intracellular Ca<SUP>2+</SUP> concentration and on H<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>2</SUB>. Oxidation of Sac1 occurred at the Golgi, as revealed with the use of the Golgi-confined Sac1-K2A mutant. Knockdown of Duox enzymes implicated these Ca<SUP>2+</SUP>-dependent members of the NADPH oxidase family as the major source of H<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>2</SUB> for Sac1 oxidation. Expression of a Golgi-targeted H<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>2</SUB> probe revealed transient EGF-induced H<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>2</SUB> production at this organelle.         Over-characterized Constructions of Double Prefixal Verbs in Old English

        This study aims to look closely into the over-characterized double prefixal verbs with eight Prefix2s (aweg-, eft-, fore-, forð/þ-, fram-, of-, ūp-, ūt-) and with two Prefix1s (ā-, ge-) in Old English (OE). It is observed that semantic pleonasm is displayed in the double prefixal verbs when one of the eight Prefix2s denoting ‘Direction’ or ‘Movement’ is attached to the single prefixal verbs with one of the two Prefix1s that already hold the (same) semantic feature of ‘Direction’ or ‘Movement’. The phenomenon of OE prefix pleonasm is shown in the descriptive analysis of OE double prefixation by Kim (2013), where he views that the prefixes at the right position are meaningless and semantically faded by grammaticalization, while the prefixes at the left position maintain their (lexical) meanings. From the perspective of Construction Morphology (CxM) (Booij 2010), this article suggests that the pleonastic OE double prefixal verbs can be seen as special constructions with the phenomenon of overcharacterization, and that these over-characterized double prefixal verbs can be accounted for (and assumed to be made) by the morphological operation of schema imposition or unification (Booij 2005, 2010; Booij & Audring 2018). Different from Kim (2013), the present study argues that both the Prefix2s and Prefix1s bear the lexical and grammatical meanings, of which the meanings of the Prefix2s are expressed twice in the unified constructions of the double prefixal verbs in OE.         Suffixoidal Formations in Old English : A Case of Constructionalization

        This paper examines nine Old English bound morphemes (-bora, -dōm, -hād, -lāc, -ræden(n); -bǣre, -cund, -fæst, -ful(l)) from the perspective of Construction Morphology (CxM). It is observed that the nine bound morphemes have suffixoidal properties of exhibiting bound (special or abstract) meanings when embedded in compounds. Different from the previous study by Kim (2017) that OE borderline morphemes are on the morphological cline between FWs and suffixes with varied degrees, this paper within CxM views that the formations with the bound morphemes are ‘Constructional Idioms’ (CIs) with specific FORMs and MEANINGs, and suggests that the OE CIs with the bound morphemes can best be seen as the subsets of OE prototypical compounds. The following are main results and arguments of this study, all of which are based on the theoretical advantages of CxM: i) by means of abstract subschemas, the formal and semantic properties of OE CIs with the nine morphemes ([Xi-bora/-dōm/-hād/-lāc/-ræden(n)j]Nk; [Xi-bǣre/-cund/-fæst/-ful(l)j]Ak) have been clearly represented; ii) it has been assumed that OE lexicon is hierarchically organized with varied levels of abstractness; CIs as the subsets of compounds are dominated by OE prototypical compounds on the higher node; iii) since the nine OE bound morphemes are part of compounds, they do not need to count as the intermediate category of ‘Suffixoids’; iv) this article has suggested that OE CIs with the nine bound morphemes are developed through ‘Constructionalization’, rather than grammaticalization or lexicalization.

      • Mechanobiological Regulation of Cells by Nanotopographically-defined Biomimetic Scaffolds for Animal Tissue Engineering

        Living cells are exposed to complex and functional microenvironment including soluble macromolecules, biophysical cues, and interactions between cell-cell and cell-extracellular matrix (ECM). This suggests that the design and manipulation of engineered cellular microenvironments is of great important in a wide variety of biological applications such as fundamental biology, therapeutic and diagnostic research, stem cells and regenerative medicine, and developing in vitro disease models. In this work, we described the development of nanoscale engineered biomimetic systems for animal tissue engineering. Specifically, we showed the nanoscale patterned scaffolds inspired by the unique architectures of native animal tissues and ECMs that can provide cells the in vivo-like topographical cell environment, and their applications for better understanding of the function of living animal cells and tissue regeneration without complex surgical treatments.
