Prada Lets Atmospheric Devil be Impulsive
( Seongjin Jang ),( Kwanghee Han ) 한국감성과학회 2015 추계학술대회 Vol.2015 No.-
This study investigated whether there is a delay discounting difference among music modes and item types. Students from Yonsei university in Seoul participated in experiment. Participants listened to Mozart piano concerto no.5 D-major or no.21 D-minor randomly. After that answer of 6*6 puzzle which is composed of luxury item pictures or non-luxury item pictures presented on the screen for 20 seconds. Then participants had to find the same picture as a pair. Finally, participants answered how much money would be reasonable as a reward. Questions are consisted of 5 delayed times(a week, a month, 3 months, 6 months, a year). For example, you can receive a reward 5,000 KRW today, then how much money is rational if you receive after a week. Answers were calculated to a delay discounting rate. There are marginal significant main effects of item and music. Moreover, there is a significant interaction between items and music. For the luxury item, the delay discounting rate is higher while listening to Mozart Piano concerto no.5 D-major rather than no.21 D-minor. However, for the non-luxury item condition the delay discounting rates difference is not significant between two pieces of music.

In this study, we figured out that music modes and item types could affect people`s urged decision making through a k-value which results from a delay discounting`s hyperbolic function. Generally, high k-value is related to impulsive decision making. Concretely, there was a significant interaction between items and music. For the luxury item, the k-value was higher while listening to major music than minor. However, for the non-luxury item condition the k-value difference was not significant between two pieces of music. Moreover, we expected mood could be manipulated after listening to the music and mediate a difference of tendency. We used first movement as an allegro and second as an andante of Mozart piano concerto No.5 D-major and No.20 D-minor for stimuli. As a result, mode and tempo`s main effects were not significant. Nevertheless, there was a significant two-way interaction. To put it concretely, the k-value of major condition was marginally higher than minor condition on allegro. However, the k-value of major condition was significantly lower than minor condition on andante. Also, depressed degree difference was significant but it was not significant as a mediator. Set depressed degree as a predict variable and future time span as a mediator, further research found future time perception partially mediated the effect that depressed degree affects impulsivity.
Acoustic characteristics of English liquids produced by Korean learners of English
Seongjin Park,Tae-Yeoub Jang 한국음운론학회 2016 음성·음운·형태론 연구 Vol.22 No.2
This paper investigates acoustic characteristics of English liquids produced by Korean EFL learners. Features of liquids such as F2, F3 and duration were extracted from target sounds produced by Koreans and native speakers. Then, normalization processes were applied to the features in order to eliminate minor factors such as speaker variability and speaking rate. Through statistical analyses, it was found that the way Korean EFL learners utilize major features to pronounce English liquids is different from native speakers. Also, it was confirmed that the learners’ L1 interferes with their pronunciation of English liquids. For instance, when EFL learners produced the English lateral incorrectly, acoustic characteristics of Korean [l], which are significantly different from those of English [l], were included in their production. Based on the analysis, a discussion follows as to whether the current results are in line with traditional theoretical models of nonnative pronunciation acquisition.
Re-Plannable Automated Parking System With a Standalone Around View Monitor for Narrow Parking Lots
Jang, Chulhoon,Kim, Chansoo,Lee, Seongjin,Kim, Seokwon,Lee, Sumyeong,Sunwoo, Myoungho IEEE 2020 IEEE transactions on intelligent transportation sy Vol.21 No.2
<P>An automated parking system allows drivers to park cars free of stress and collisions in parking lots. Most commercial systems use ultrasonic sensors and require a scanning process to search for a vacant parking space between two adjacent vehicles. If automated parking fails, drivers must return to the initial position for further scanning or take the steering wheel to complete the remaining parking procedure. To improve such limitations, we propose a re-plannable automated parking system with a standalone around view monitor. The proposed system can constantly reflect several errors and risks of perception, positioning, and control in real-life situations, and then re-generate the parking path to improve the parking precision and avoid any collisions. To realize this automated parking system, we propose a new system architecture and introduce four core modules: environmental perception, precise positioning, parking path planning, and vehicle control. In our experiments, we evaluated the system in narrow parking lots with a perpendicular parking space defined as <TEX>$2.1 \times 5.0$</TEX> m. The proposed system successfully performed reverse automated parking with a lateral error of 0.049 m, a longitudinal error of 0.249 m, and a heading error of 0.468°.</P>

<P><B>Summary:</B> Deep sequencing of small RNAs has become a routine process in recent years, but no dedicated viewer is as yet available to explore the sequence features simultaneously along with secondary structure and gene expression of microRNA (miRNA). We present a highly interactive application that visualizes the sequence alignment, secondary structure and normalized read counts in synchronous multipanel windows. This helps users to easily examine the relationships between the structure of precursor and the sequences and abundance of final products and thereby will facilitate the studies on miRNA biogenesis and regulation. The project manager handles multiple samples of multiple groups. The read alignment is imported in BAM file format. Implemented features comprise sorting, zooming, highlighting, editing, filtering, saving, exporting, etc. Currently, miRseqViewer supports 84 organisms whose annotation is available at miRBase.</P><P><B>Availability and implementation:</B> miRseqViewer, implemented in Java, is available at https://github.com/insoo078/mirseqviewer or at http://msv.kobic.re.kr.</P><P><B>Contact:</B> sanghyuk@ewha.ac.kr</P>
Perception of English Intervocalic Liquids by Korean Learners of English
Seongjin Park,Tae-Yeoub Jang 한국외국어대학교 언어연구소 2016 언어와 언어학 Vol.0 No.72
This paper investigates acoustic cues to perception of English liquids by Korean learners of English. In a discrimination test, participants were provided with stimuli of speech tokens containing intervocalic liquids whose F2, F3, and duration were manipulated and their responses to each stimulus were statistically analyzed. The result shows that Koreans, unlike native speakers, utilize secondary acoustic cues (F2 and duration) considerably in perception of English /l/ and /./ as well as the primary cue, F3. An analysis on a specific cue weighting of Korean listeners was also attempted using statistical machine learning techniques.
