어머니의 정신건강과 유아의 수면간의 관계에서 모아 간 의사소통능력의 매개효과 = The Mediating Effects of Mother-Child Communication between Mental Health of Mothers and Preschoolers' Sleep Problems

This study was conducted to investigate the mediating effects of mother-child communication in the relation between mental health of mother and preschoolers' sleep problems. The mothers of 461 preschoolers who were attending kindergartens or day-care centers located in Dae-gu or Kyungbuk province participated in this study. The statistical analysis program(SPSS) was used for analyzing the collected data from the research in correlation analysis. To examine mediating effects of mother-child communication in the relation between mental health of mothers and preschoolers' sleep problems, Baron and Kenny(1986) model was used. The results of study were as follows. First, the relation between mental health (somatization, interpersonal sensitivity, hostility and paranoid ideation among nine symptom dimensions in the SCL-90-R ) of mothers and preschoolers' sleep problems showed negative correlations. Second, the mediating effects of mother-child communication in the relation between all factors (ie. somatization, interpersonal sensitivity, hostility and paranoid ideation) among mental health and preschoolers' sleep problems were significant. They worked partly, not completely. To sum up, the higher the level of mothers' mental health, the higher the level of preschoolers' sleep problems and the higher mother-child communication abilities, the lower preschoolers' sleep problems. Especially, there is more significant difference in mediating the effect on the relationship between paranoid ideation and mother-child communication. These results indicate that it is necessary to provide the mothers who are suffering mental health problems with interventions designed to raise their level of mother- child communication ability.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 어머니의 정신건강이 의사소통능력을 매개로 유아의 수면문제에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 규명하여, 전 생애에 걸쳐 건강한 심신의 근간이 되는 수면문제를 상담 현장이나 부모역량교육 및 프로그램 개발을 통해 유아기라는 비교적 어린 발달과정에서 바로잡기 위한 기초자료를 제시하는데 있다. 이를 위해 대구, 경북지역 어린이집 및 유치원의 36개월에서 60개월 유아를 둔 부모 500명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하여 그 중에서 문항에 응답하지 않았거나 불성실하게 응답했다고 판단되는 자료를 제외한 461명의 자료를 분석했다. 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 어머니 정신건강의 하위요인인 신체화 증상, 대인예민성, 적대감, 편집증과 유아의 수면문제는 정적 상관을 보여주었으며, 양육효능감 중 의사소통능력과는 부적 상관을 보여주었다. 어머니의 신체화 증상과 대인예민성, 적대감, 편집증이 높을수록 유아의 수면문제는 높았으며, 모-아간 의사소통능력이 높을수록 유아의 수면문제가 낮았다.
