        제주도 초등교육의 발전이라는 말에서 “발전”이라는 개념은 상대적인 의미를 갖는 것으로 과거와의 비교 타와의 비교로서 서술될 수 있는 개념이다. 따라서 제주도 초등교육의 발전에 관한 문제를 다룸에 있어서는 편연적으로 현재 제주도 초등교육의 모습과 과거의 비교 지역적으로는 국내에 한정시켜 이야기 한다면 육지부와의 비교로서 설명 될 수 있을 것이다. 더나아가서 발전의 문제를 제주지역사회와 관련 시켜 이야기 한다면 현재 제주도 초등교육의 모습과 과거와의 차이 육지부와의 차이에 영향을 주는 제주도 사회의 사회 문화적 요구를 살표보는 일이 그 문제가 될 것이다.

        Art-education consists of 'the education of art' and 'the education by art' The education of art' is aimde for improving the skill in pecturing and moulding, 'The education by art is intended to make human character developed in every direction. In the mame of education, we have endeavored to find the plasticity in human beinfs, and to realize it. In the name of art-education, we have pursued to make human beings' innate personality developed freely. Art-education is directed to make human beings feel, think, and express the beautiful aesthetically. In other words, art-education is a kind of creativity-education. Being education the art-education, the children will be the beautiful, good, and haumonious, and have the capacity to lead a humane life. And the society also will be rightness and good graces by educating the in childhood.

        I presuppose that 'deucation' is an ativity to satisfy human being's innate drives in some cases, to supress them in other cases, and to develop human being desiraly. I also suppose that 'art-deucation' is an educational activity to satisfy human being's innate drives of formation, creation,, decoration and self-assertion, to stabilize human emotions, and to sublimate them for the sake of his whole personality development or self-actualization. And I think that the art-education is aimed at refining pupils' emotions through aesthetic experiences, satiffying their drives, instincts and interests properly, enhancing their creative thoughts or imaginations, cultivating their incividualities, and helping them develop their intellectualities, emotionalities and socialities. And I understand the contemporary problems of art-education not in terms of the instruction of a discipline but in terms of the artistic activities coming to humanization. On theses assumptions, I studied the historical transition of the problems according to the change of educational thoughts, and compared the objectives and contents of elementary art-education in Korea with them in Japan.

      • 국민학교 체육시설 현황 및 활용결과 조사 연구 : 제주도 국민학교를 중심으로

        In order to collect data essential to improving physical education in primary schools in Cheju Province, I have made a research on the present condition and practical use of the sports facilities, and according to questionaires and statistics found out the following facts : 1. The playgrounds are larger in size than the standard one. 2. Most schools are not furnished with even half of the required sports facilities and goods. 3. The curricula of physical education are successfully carried on. 4. Circuit training. a fundamental physical exercise must be reinforced to improve physical strength. 5. Children in Cheju Province fall far behind a notional average child in their physical constitution and strength. It is concluded that sufficient sports facilities and goods should be furnished so that every child may utilize them freely and willingly and accordingly improve his growth in both his physical constitution and strength.       • 濟州道 幼稚園 敎育의 現況과 問題

        The main purpose of this survey is as follows. 1) Surveying the present situation of kindergarten education in Jeju. 2) Finding out the problems on the present kindergarten educational practicies in Jeju. 3) Finding out the problems on the local distribution of kindergarten and making a suggestion to arrange new kindergartens by regional group as on idea to realize the eguality of opportunity in kindergarten education. In orden to survey the present situation of k-education, in this paper the seven variables, which seemed to influence the k-education, are estalblished. Those are 1) planing and management of curriclum 2) the process and method of learning and teching 3) the readiness of childrens for learning 4) administration supporting system 5) parents attitude toward k-education 6) perception of parents of non-attender to kindergarten 7) the situation of kindergartens local distribution. The above seven variables are classified in two dimension, one is direct factor influencing the teaching and learning situation, the other is indirect factor. These variables classified in two dimension are the content of this survey. In order to accomplish the objectives of the survey, 35 kindergartens, 42 teachers 362 parents of k-attender and 270 parents of non-attender were selected by stratified sampling. The statistical materials employed for analyses in each area of the variables were mainly based on documents, observation, questionaire, kindergarten visits and interviews with parent, principals and teschers of kindergartens. Finding and suggestion as a results of analyses in each variables can be summerized in the following three points. 1. the ratio of k-attendance in Jeju is 22.75%. In order to accomplish the 50% of k-atlendance as a national goal and realize the equal opportunity of kindergarten by regional group, new kindergarten eslatlishment is needed. the required number of kindergartens and its classes are as follows. 표??? 2. the great shortage of educational facitities and learning material is a powerful impedimentary factor to provide childrens with variety of learning experience. 3. Administrative supporting for teacher's teaching activities is insufficient, it makes k-teachers to be in difficuly and ineffective for their k-educational practicies.
