      • A Fast Level Filtering Algorithm for Inter Prediction in HEVC Encoder

        The emerging High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) standard employs several efficient coding tools to obtain 50% bit rate reduction than H.264/AVC standard with comparable video quality, but at the cost of high computational complexity. This paper analyzes the performance of fixed CU levels and proposes a level filtering algorithm for inter prediction. A RD cost-based correlation for the 64x64 CU is utilized to do a level filtering for the quadtree structured code unit, which is aimed at reducing the number of fine-processed levels. For the non-64x64 CUs, merge mode and Coded Block Flag (CBF) are used to determine the early termination. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method can achieve 0.93% BD-rate loss and 40.36% time reduction on average.

      • Luminescence Performance and Structural Characteristic of Eu<sup>2+</sup>-Activated Na<sub>2</sub>BaSi<sub>2</sub>O<sub>6</sub> Phosphor

        <P>Green-emitting phosphor of Eu<SUP>2+</SUP>-doped sodium barium silicate Na<SUB>2</SUB>BaSi<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>6</SUB> was prepared by chemical sol-gel method. The X-ray powder diffraction, SEM, photoluminescence pectra and time resolved emission spectra were measured. The excitation spectra can well match with the emission light of near UV-LED chips (360–400 nm). The luminescence was suggested to originate from two kinds of Eu<SUP>2+</SUP> centers, which occupy both Ba<SUP>2+</SUP> and Na(2) sites in Na<SUB>2</SUB>BaSi<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>6</SUB> lattices. Energy transfer among the Eu<SUP>2+</SUP>-centers was discussed by analyzing the photoluminescence spectra, concentration-dependent luminescence intensity and decay lifetimes. The dependence of the luminescence intensity of Na<SUB>2</SUB>BaSi<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>6</SUB>:Eu<SUP>2+</SUP> on temperatures was measured. The activation energy (Δ<I>E</I>) for thermal quenching was reported. The luminescence properties of Na<SUB>2</SUB>BaSi<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>6</SUB>:Eu<SUP>2+</SUP> were compared with that of BaSiO<SUB>3</SUB>:Eu<SUP>2+</SUP>. The high luminescence of Na<SUB>2</SUB>BaSi<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>6</SUB>:Eu<SUP>2+</SUP> were discussed on the base of luminescence properties and microstructure of Eu<SUP>2+</SUP> ion.</P>
