        연인모,김대기,이세균 충북대학교 건설기술연구소 2002 建設技術論文集 Vol.21 No.2

The object of this study is to investigate the thermal characteristics of heating system with floor radiation for residential building. As a first step, the thermal resistance of floor constructed with mortar and concrete has been studied while hot water is supplied through pipe under the floor surface. A heat transfer model of floor heating system which has natural convection and radiation from floor surface to the heating space has been developed to predict the heat transfer and the temperature of floor surface. Also, expriments have been performed and the results have been compared with those of heat transfer model. This study does not include all the heat transfer characteristics associated with typical heating system with radiant floor in detail. However, heat transfer modeling developed in this study can be a first step in design of comfortable floor temperature. Therefore, the results of this study can provide important informations to construct and optimize such a system.

Rosa hybrida extract suppresses vascular smooth muscle cell responses by the targeting of signaling pathways, cell cycle regulation and matrix metalloproteinase-9 expression

        LEE, SE-JUNG,WON, SE YEON,PARK, SUNG LYEA,SONG, JUN-HUI,NOH, DAE-HWA,KIM, HONG-MAN,YIN, CHANG SHIK,KIM, WUN-JAE,MOON, SUNG-KWON UNKNOWN 2016 INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF MOLECULAR MEDICINE Vol.37 No.4

<P>The pharmacological effects of Rosa hybrida are well known in the cosmetics industry. However, the role of Rosa hybrida in cardiovascular biology had not previously been investigated, to the best of our knowledge. The aim of the present study was to elucidate the effect of water extract of Rosa hybrida (WERH) on platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF)-stimulated vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs). VSMC proliferation, which was stimulated by PDGF, was inhibited in a non-toxic manner by WERH treatment, which also diminished the phosphorylation of extracellular signal-regulated kinase 1/2 (ERK1/2) and AKT. Treatment with WERH also induced G1-phase cell cycle arrest, which was due to the decreased expression of cyclins and cyclin-dependent kinases (CDKs), and induced p21WAF1 expression in PDGF-stimulated VSMCs. Moreover, WERH treatment suppressed the migration and invasion of VSMCs stimulated with PDGF. Treatment with WERH abolished the expression of matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) and decreased the binding activity of nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-kappa B), activator protein-1 (AP-1), and specificity protein 1 (Sp1) motifs in PDGF-stimulated VSMCs. WERH treatment inhibited the proliferation of PDGF-stimulated VSMCs through p21WAF1-mediated G1-phase cell cycle arrest, by decreasing the kinase activity of cyclin/CDK complexes. Furthermore, WERH suppressed the PDGF-induced phosphorylation of ERK1/2 and AKT in VSMCs. Finally, treatment with WERH impeded the migration and invasion of VSMCs stimulated by PDGF by downregulating MMP-9 expression and a reduction in NF-kappa B, AP-1 and Sp1 activity. These results provide new insights into the effects of WERH on PDGF-stimulated VSMCs, and we suggest that WERH has the potential to act as a novel agent for the prevention and/or treatment of vascular diseases.</P>

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>We synthesized nanoarchitectures comprising γ-Fe2O3@C nanofibers with one-dimensional rice-panicle-like morphologies via a facile electrospinning and annealing process for use as anodes in lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). A thin carbon layer grown on the surface of γ-Fe2O3 provides a synergistic effect to relieve the stress and alleviate the volume expansion occurring during the lithium-ion insertion/extraction process. The unique structure not only offers good electron transport routes, but also enhances the lithium-ion conductive channels, resulting in excellent electrochemical activity and electrical conductivity of the LIB anode material. A high reversible specific capacity of 1252 mAh g−1 was achieved after 200 cycles even at the current density of 10 A g−1. When examined at the scan rate of 5 mV s−1, a high capacitive contribution ratio of 88.5% was achieved. The short lithium-ion diffusion pathways avoid structural damage to the active material and provide excellent rate capacities. Anti-Diabetic Effect of Aster sphathulifolius in C57BL/KsJ-db/db Mice.

        Yin, Xingfu,Huang, Yuhua,Jung, Da-Woon,Chung, Hee Chul,Choung, Se Young,Shim, Jae-Hoon,Kang, Il-Jun Mary Ann Liebert, Inc 2015 Journal of medicinal food Vol.18 No.9

<P>In this study, we investigated the anti-diabetic effect of Aster sphathulifolius (AS) extract in C57BL/KsJ-db/db mice. The db/db mice were orally administered with AS 50% ethanol extract at concentrations of 50, 100, and 200?mg/kg/day (db/db-AS50, db/db-AS100, and db/db-AS200, respectively) for 10 weeks. Food and water intake, fasting blood glucose concentrations, blood glycosylated hemoglobin levels, and plasma insulin levels were significantly lower in the db/db-AS200 group than in the vehicle-treated db/db group; whereas glucose tolerance was significantly improved in the db/db-AS200 group. Moreover, AS dose dependently increased both insulin receptor substrate 1 and glucose transporter type 4 expression in skeletal muscle, significantly increased glucokinase expression, and decreased glucose 6-phosphatase and phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase expressions in the liver. The expressions of transcription factors, such as sterol-regulatory element-binding protein, peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ, and adipocyte protein 2, were upregulated in adipose tissue. Furthermore, immunohistochemical analysis showed that AS upregulated insulin production by increasing pancreatic β-cell mass. In summary, AS extract normalized hyperglycemia by multiple mechanisms: inhibition of glyconeogenesis, acceleration of glucose metabolism and lipid metabolism, and increase of glucose uptake. Using in vivo assays, this study has shown the potential of AS as a medicinal food and suggests the efficacy of AS for the use of prevention of diabetes.</P>

Association of Serum 25-Hydroxyvitamin D Levels with Markers for Metabolic Syndrome in the Elderly: A Repeated Measure Analysis

Park, Hye Yin,Lim, Youn-Hee,Kim, Jin Hee,Bae, Sanghyuk,Oh, Se-Young,Hong, Yun-Chul The Korean Academy of Medical Sciences 2012 JOURNAL OF KOREAN MEDICAL SCIENCE Vol.27 No.6

<P>The purpose of current study was to investigate associations of serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D (OHVD) levels with markers for metabolic syndrome in elderly Koreans. We conducted a panel study on 301 individuals over 60 yr old in Seoul, Korea, and repeatedly measured serum OHVD, glucose, insulin, and lipid levels. Mixed effect model and generalized estimating equations were used to investigate relationships between serum OHVD levels with marker levels for metabolic syndrome and each of its categories. Of all subjects, 76.6% were vitamin D deficient (< 50 nM) and 16.9% were insufficient (< 75 nM). Inverse association was demonstrated between serum OHVD levels and insulin (<I>P</I> = 0.004), triglyceride (<I>P</I> = 0.023) and blood pressure (systolic blood pressure: <I>P</I> = 0.002; diastolic blood pressure: <I>P</I> < 0.001). Vitamin D deficiency was found to increase risk of 'hypertriglyceridemia' category of metabolic syndrome (odds ratio: 1.73, 95% confidence interval: 1.13-2.66). In conclusion, we found from our repeated measure analysis that decreasing serum OHVD levels are associated with increasing insulin resistance, increasing serum triglyceride levels and increasing blood pressure in elderly Koreans, and confirmed on the risk of 'hypertriglyceridemia' in vitamin D deficient subjects.</P>

Enhanced lithium storage by ZnFe2O4 nanofibers as anode materials for lithium-ion battery

        Gao, Yingjun,Yin, Linghong,Kim, Su Jae,Yang, Hang,Jeon, Injun,Kim, Jong-Pil,Jeong, Se Young,Lee, Hyung Woo,Cho, Chae Ryong Pergamon Press 2019 Electrochimica Acta Vol. No.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>We synthesized polycrystalline ZnFe2O4 nanofibers via a facile electrospinning and annealing process. The ZnFe2O4 nanofibers exhibit continuous frameworks and uniform porosity through the abrupt combustion of the polymer and crystallization of inorganic elements. This well-defined structure and morphology facilitates Li+ transport, enhances the effective contact area with the electrolyte, and offers abundant active sites. For the ZnFe2O4 nanofiber anode, the reversible capacity reaches 753 mAh g−1 after 200 cycles at the high current density of 5 A g−1 and the anode shows excellent rate performance. The enhanced electrochemical performance can be attributed to the one-dimensional nanostructure and shortened diffusion pathways, which ensure full conversion reactions during lithiation-delithiation between Zn, Fe, and Li+, relieve volume expansion, and prevent pulverization/aggregation upon prolonged cycling at high current densities. Thus, we believe that ZnFe2O4 nanofibers present great potential as anode materials for Li-ion batteries.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Facile electrospinning and annealing process to synthesis polycrystalline ZnFe2O4 nanofibers. </LI> <LI> Continuous structural framework with uniform pores on the surface. </LI> <LI> High specific reversible capacity and enhanced cycle stability of ZnFe2O4 NFs due to well-defined morphology. </LI> </UL> </P>

        Lee Hyo-Sang,Yin Xi-Jun,Lee Young-Ho,Chun Se-Jin,Suh Young-Il,Park Keum-Ju,Seo Jin-Sung,Jo Su-Jin,Kong Il-Keun 한국발생생물학회 2003 한국발생생물학회 학술발표대회 Vol.2003 No.1

This study was conducted to determine the ability of nuclear development of canine oocytes depend on the kind of maturation media and addition of serum sources. Ovaries were collected from a bitches at various stages of estrus cycle by an ovariohysterectomy. Oocytes were collected of cumulus oocytes complexes after slicing of ovaries with blade. The maturation medium was containing 0.6 mM/ml cysteine, 0.2 mM pyruvic acid, 20 ng/ml and 1 rbST Exp. 1, the oocytes were matured in four different maturation medium as follows: 1) TCM-199, 2) DMEM, 3) NCSU37 and 4) modified-NCSU37 with 10% FBS. Exp. 2: the oocytes were matured in mNCSU37 supplemented with different protein sources (10% FBS, 10% EDS, 0.3% BSA and 0.1% PVA) to select the optimal one. Oocytes were matured in a humidified atmosphere containing 5% at for 72 hrs. The maturation rate were analyzed by Duncan's multiple range test using General Linear Models procedure in SAS. The rates of meiotic resumption to MI-MII depend on different culture media were achieved with TCM-199 (5.2%), DMEM (5.0%), NCSU37 (7.2%) and m-NCSU37 (5.9%), respectively. The rates of meiotic resumption to MI-MII according to addition of protein source were 10% FBS (13.3%), 10% EDS (25.0%), 0.3% BSA (25.0%) and 0.1% PVA (15.4%), respectively. In conclusion, the results obtained showed that in vitro maturation media and protein supplement to m-NCSU37 culture medium tested did not promote the final steps of IVM in canine oocytes.

Upregulation of FcγRIIB by resveratrol via NF-κB activation reduces B-cell numbers and ameliorates lupus

        Jyun-Pei Jhou,Se-Jie Chen,Ho-Yin Huang,Wan-Wan Lin,Duen-Yi Huang,Shiang-Jong Tzeng 생화학분자생물학회 2017 Experimental and molecular medicine Vol.49 No.-

Resveratrol, an anti-inflammatory agent, can inhibit pro-inflammatory mediators by activating Sirt1, which is a class III histone deacetylase. However, whether resveratrol can regulate inhibitory or anti-inflammatory molecules has been less studied. FcγRIIB, a receptor for IgG, is an essential inhibitory receptor of B cells for blocking B-cell receptor-mediated activation and for directly inducing apoptosis of B cells. Because mice deficient in either Sirt1 or FcγRIIB develop lupus-like diseases, we investigated whether resveratrol can alleviate lupus through FcγRIIB. We found that resveratrol enhanced the expression of FcγRIIB in B cells, resulting in a marked depletion of plasma cells in the spleen and notably in the bone marrow, thereby decreasing serum autoantibody titers in MRL/lpr mice. The upregulation of FcγRIIB by resveratrol involved an increase of Sirt1 protein and deacetylation of p65 NF-κB (K310). Moreover, increased binding of phosphor-p65 NF-κB (S536) but decreased association of acetylated p65 NF-κB (K310) and phosphor-p65 NF-κB (S468) to the − 480 promoter region of Fcgr2b gene was responsible for the resveratrol-mediated enhancement of FcγRIIB gene transcription. Consequently, B cells, especially plasma cells, were considerably reduced in MRL/lpr mice, leading to improvement of nephritis and prolonged survival. Taken together, we provide evidence that pharmacological upregulation of FcγRIIB expression in B cells via resveratrol can selectively reduce B cells, decrease serum autoantibodies and ameliorate lupus nephritis. Our findings lead us to propose FcγRIIB as a new target for therapeutic exploitation, particularly for lupus patients whose FcγRIIB expression levels in B cells are downregulated.
