A MODIFIED METHOD TO EXTRACT IMAGE CONTOURS
Yang, Xia Hua 대한전자공학회 1992 HICEC:Harbin International Conference on Electroni Vol.1 No.1
Contour extraction is a necessary procedure in some image processing problems. A useful method to extract image contours is based on the techniques of directional filtering and zero crossing detection. In this paper a modified method to improve this contour extraction is proposed.
Double-Circuit Transmission Lines Fault location Algorithm for Single Line-to-Ground Fault
Yang, Xia,Choi, Myeon-Song,Lee, Seung-Jae The Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers 2007 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.2 No.4
This paper proposes a fault location algorithm for double-circuit transmission lines in the case of single line-to-ground fault. The proposed algorithm requires the voltage and current from the sending end of the transmission line. The fault distance is simply determined by solving a second order polynomial equation which is achieved directly by the analysis of the circuit. In order to testify the performance of the proposed algorithm, several other conventional approaches have been taken out to compare with it. The test results corroborate its superior effectiveness.
Load Flow Analysis for Distribution Automation System based on Distributed Load Modeling
Yang, Xia,Choi, Myeon-Song,Lim, Il-Hyung,Lee, Seung-Jae The Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers 2007 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.2 No.3
In this paper, a new load flow algorithm is proposed on the basis of distributed load modeling in radial distribution networks. Since the correct state data in the distribution power networks is basic for all distribution automation algorithms in the Distribution Automation System (DAS), the distribution networks load flow is essential to obtain the state data. DAS Feeder Remote Terminal Units (FRTUs) are used to measure and acquire the necessary data for load flow calculations. In case studies, the proposed algorithm has been proven to be more accurate than a conventional algorithm; and it has also been tested in a simple radial distribution system.
Yang, Xia,Lim, Il-Hyung,Choi, Myeon-Song,Lee, Seung-Jae,Kim, Tae-Wan The Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers 2008 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.3 No.3
In this paper, a new algorithm of optimal voltage control is proposed for the Distribution Automation System (DAS) based on constants of four terminal network modeling. In the proposed method, the voltage profiles along feeders are estimated from the measurement of the current and power factor by a Feeder Remote Terminal Unit (FRTU) installed at each node. Whenever the voltage profile violates the restriction, the voltage control strategy is applied to keep the voltage levels along the feeders within the pre-specified range through the modification and coordination of the transformer under-load tap changers (ULTC), step voltage regulator (SVR), as well as shunt condenser. In the case studies, the estimation and control of the voltages have been testified in a radial distribution system with 11 nodes.
β-Cyclodextrin hydrogels containing naphthaleneacetic acid for pH-sensitive release
Yang, Xia,Kim, Jin-Chul Wiley Subscription Services, Inc., A Wiley Company 2010 Biotechnology and bioengineering Vol.106 No.2

β-Cyclodextrin (β-CD) hydrogel was prepared in a strong alkali condition using epichlorohydrin (EPI) as a cross-linker, where the molar ratios of EPI to β-CD were 8:1, 10:1, and 15:1. In order to endow a pH sensitivity to the hydrogel, naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA) was loaded in the hydrogel by taking advantage of its hydrophobic interaction with the cavities of β-CD. The releases of blue dextran (a water-soluble dye) from the hydrogels were promoted, as the pHs of the media increased. When the molar ratio of EPI to β-CD was lower, the degrees of release were higher, and the pH dependency of the release became more prominent. In fact, the swelling ratio of the hydrogels having a lower molar ratio of EPI to β-CD was higher. The higher swelling ratio would account for the higher degree of release and the marked pH sensitivity. Biotechnol. Bioeng. 2010;106: 295–302. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
