Ultrasonic Synthesis of Au/AgCl Hybrid Cubes and Their Evolution Under Electron Beam Irradiation

        Hongliang Cao,Xiaoli Miao,Mengqin Zhu,Chang Li,Feifei Wei,Xin Chen 성균관대학교(자연과학캠퍼스) 성균나노과학기술원 2015 NANO Vol.10 No.6

The utilization of ultrasound offers a facile tool for the synthesis of Au/AgCl hybrid particles. We have obtained the architectures of Au nanoparticles on AgCl sub-micrometer cubes by simply ultrasonic irradiating their precursors in ethylene glycol (EG). The formation process of Au/AgCl hybrid particles in the reaction solution has been studied based on the optical absorption spectra and the scanning electron microscope (SEM) images of the particles obtained at different ultrasonic irradiation stages. The dynamic changes of Au/AgCl hybrid particles under electron beam irradiation have been investigated in both SEM and in situ liquid cell transmission electron microscope (TEM). Hollow Au/AgCl hybrid particle structures have been obtained under the electron beam irradiation in liquid, with the cuboid contour shape preserved.

Research on sparsity measures for rotating machinery health monitoring

Yudong Cao,Minping Jia,Jichao Zhuang,Xiaoli Zhao 대한기계학회 2022 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.36 No.12

Machine health management is one of the main research contents of PHM technology, which aims to monitor the health states of machines online and evaluate degradation stages through real-time sensor data. In recent years, classic sparsity measures such as kurtosis, Lp/Lq norm, pq-mean, smoothness index, negative entropy, and Gini index have been widely used to characterize the impulsivity of repetitive transients. Since smoothness index and negative entropy were proposed, the sparse properties have not been fully analyzed. The first contribution of this paper is to analyze six properties of smoothness index and negative entropy. In addition, this paper conducts a thorough investigation on multivariate power average function and finds that existing classical sparsity measures can be respectively reformulated as the ratio of multivariate power mean functions (MPMFs). Finally, a general paradigm of index design is proposed for the expansion of sparsity measures family, and several newly designed dimensionless health indexes are given as examples. Two different run-to-failure bearing datasets were used to analyze and validate the capabilities and advantages of the newly designed health indexes. Experimental results prove that the newly designed health indexes show good performance in terms of monotonic degradation description, first fault occurrence time determination and degradation state assessment.

Preparation, Microwave Absorption and Infrared Emissivity of Ni-doped ZnO/Al Powders by Coprecipitation Method in the GHz Range

        Ruiwen Shu,Honglong Xing,Xiaoli Cao,Xiaoli Ji,Dexin Tan,Ying Gan 성균관대학교(자연과학캠퍼스) 성균나노과학기술원 2016 NANO Vol.11 No.4

In this work, Ni-doped ZnO/Al composites were prepared by a facile chemical co-precipitation method. The morphology and structure of the as-prepared composites were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), respectively. It was found that the flakelike Al powders were successfully coated by Ni-doped ZnO nanoparticles with slight aggregation and Ni2+ was successfully doped into the crystal lattice of ZnO. Moreover, the effects of ZnO concentration and doped Ni concentration on the infrared emissivity of ZnO/Al composites at the waveband range of 8–14 µm were studied. The results showed that the ZnO/Al composites exhibited the lowest infrared emissivity of 0.34 with 50 wt.% ZnO concentration. Meanwhile, the electromagnetic parameters and microwave absorbing properties of Ni-doped ZnO/Al composites in the frequency range of 2–18 GHz were explored. Significantly, 12 mol.% Ni-doped ZnO/Al composites presented the lowest infrared emissivity of 0.37 and the maximum reflection loss reached -32.5 dB at 13.6 GHz with a thickness of 4.5 mm. The excellent microwave absorbing properties could be attributed to the good impedance match, crystal lattice defects and interfacial polarization. It was believed that the Ni-doped ZnO/Al composites could be used as potential infrared-microwave compatible stealth materials.

Coated cysteamine, a potential feed additive for ruminants — An updated review

        Yaqoob Muhammad Umar,Hou Jia,Zhe Li,Qi Yingying,Wu Peng,Zhu Xiangde,Cao Xiaoli,Li Zhefeng 아세아·태평양축산학회 2024 Animal Bioscience Vol.37 No.2

For sustainable development, better performance, and less gas pollution during rumen fermentation, there is a need to find a green and safe feed additive for ruminants. Cysteamine (CS) is a biological compound naturally produced in mammalian cells. It is widely used as a growth promoter in ruminants because of its ability to control hormone secretions. It mainly controls the circulating concentration of somatostatin and enhances growth hormone production, leading to improved growth performance. CS modulates the rumen fermentation process in a way beneficial for the animals and environment, leading to less methane production and nutrients loss. Another beneficial effect of using CS is that it improves the availability of nutrients to the animals and enhances their absorption. CS also works as an antioxidant and protects the cells from oxidative damage. In addition, CS has no adverse effects on bacterial and fungal alpha diversity in ruminants. Dietary supplementation of CS enhances the population of beneficial microorganisms. Still, no data is available on the use of CS on reproductive performance in ruminants, so there is a need to evaluate the effects of using CS in breeding animals for an extended period. In this review, the action mode of CS was updated according to recently published data to highlight the beneficial effects of using CS in ruminants

Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy-Guided Bladder-Sparing Treatment for Muscle-Invasive Bladder Cancer: Results of a Pilot Phase II Study

        Hongzhe Shi,Wen Zhang,Xingang Bi,Dong Wang,Zejun Xiao,Youyan Guan,Kaopeng Guan,Jun Tian,Hongsong Bai,Linjun Hu,Chuanzhen Cao,Weixing Jiang,Zhilong Hu,Jin Zhang,Yan Chen,Shan Zheng,Xiaoli Feng,Changlin 대한암학회 2021 Cancer Research and Treatment Vol.53 No.4

Purpose Reduced quality of life after cystectomy has made bladder preservation a popular research topic for muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC). Previous research has indicated significant tumor downstaging after neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC). However, maximal transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TURBT) was performed before NAC to define the pathology, impacting the real evaluation of NAC. This research aimed to assess real NAC efficacy without interference from TURBT and apply combined modality therapies guided by NAC efficacy. Materials and Methods Patients with cT2-4aN0M0 MIBC were confirmed by cystoscopic biopsy and imaging. NAC efficacy was assessed by imaging, urine cytology, and cystoscopy with multidisciplinary team discussion. Definite responders (≤ T1) underwent TURBT plus concurrent chemoradiotherapy. Incomplete responders underwent radical cystectomy or partial cystectomy if feasible. The primary endpoint was the bladder preservation rate. Results Fifty-nine patients were enrolled, and the median age was 63 years. Patients with cT3-4 accounted for 75%. The median number of NAC cycles was three. Definite responders were 52.5%. The complete response (CR) was 10.2%, and 59.3% of patients received bladder-sparing treatments. With a median follow-up of 44.6 months, the 3-year overall survival (OS) was 72.8%. Three-year OS and relapse-free survival were 88.4% and 60.0% in the bladder-sparing group but only 74.3% and 37.5% in the cystectomy group. The evaluations of preserved bladder function were satisfactory. Conclusion After stratifying MIBC patients by NAC efficacy, definite responders achieved a satisfactory bladder-sparing rate, prognosis, and bladder function. The CR rate reflected the real NAC efficacy for MIBC. This therapy is worth verifying through multicenter research.
