OLAP4R: A Top-K Recommendation System for OLAP Sessions

The Top-K query is currently played a key role in a wide range of road network, decision making and quantitative financial research. In this paper, a Top-K recommendation algorithm is proposed to solve the cold-start problem and a tag generating method is put forward to enhance the semantic understanding of the OLAP session. In addition, a recommendation system for OLAP sessions called “OLAP4R” is designed using collaborative filtering technique aiming at guiding the user to find the ultimate goals by interactive queries. OLAP4R utilizes a mixed system architecture consisting of multiple functional modules, which have a high extension capability to support additional functions. This system structure allows the user to configure multi-dimensional hierarchies and desirable measures to analyze the specific requirement and gives recommendations with forthright responses. Experimental results show that our method has raised 20% recall of the recommendations comparing the traditional collaborative filtering and a visualization tag of the recommended sessions will be provided with modified changes for the user to understand.

Protein kinases are key players in controlling many basiccellular processes in almost all the organisms via mediatingsignal transduction processes. In the present study, we characterizedthe cellulolytic Trichoderma reesei orthologs ofSaccharomyces cerevisiae Sch9 and Yak1 by sequence alignmentand functional analysis. The T. reesei Trsch9Δ andTryak1Δ mutant strains displayed a decreased growth rateon different carbon sources and produced less conidia. Theabsence of these two kinases also resulted in different butabnormal polarized apical growth as well as sensitivity tovarious stresses. In addition, disruption of the genes Trsch9 orTryak1 resulted in perturbation of cell wall integrity. Interestingly,while the induced production of cellulases was slightlycompromised in the Trsch9Δ strain, the extracellular productionof cellulases was significantly improved in the absenceof Yak1. The results indicate that TrSch9 and TrYak1play an important role in filamentous growth, stress responseand induced production of cellulases in T. reesei.

In this paper, the performance of a tuned liquid damper (TLD) in suppressing the seismic response of buildings is investigated with shake table testing of a four-story steel frame model that rests on pile foundation. The model tests were performed in three phases with the steel frame structure alone, the soil and pile foundation system, and the soil-foundation-structure system, respectively. The test results from different phases were compared to study the effect of soil-structure interaction on the efficiency of a TLD in reducing the peak response of the structure. The influence of a TLD on the dynamic response of the pile foundation was investigated as well. Three types of earthquake excitations were considered with different frequency characteristics. Test results indicated that TLD can suppress the peak response of the structure up to 20% regardless of the presence of soils. TLD is also effective in reducing the dynamic responses of pile foundation.
