Optical Characters Measurement and Simulation of 2D Cross Grating Microstructures of Butterfly Wings

        Wang Zhang,Di Zhang,Wei-Xin Chen,Jia-Jun Gu,Qin-Lei Liu,Shen-Ming Zhu,Hui-Lan Su,Chuan-Liang Feng,문원진 한국정밀공학회 2012 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol. No.

In this paper, the reflectance of the butterfly wings are measured by using the microspectrophotometer as the optical character with the reflectance on several scales on the wings. Reflectance spectra from different wing scale zones with the same color are dramatically different. And it suggests that the tiny structural difference has the great influence on the reflectance property. In addition, the microstructures of the butterfly wings can be simplified to a 2D crossing grating. By simulating a two-dimensional model using rigorous coupled-wave analysis technique, the optical properties of the butterfly wings were investigated. The simulation results depend strongly on the structural parameters and refractive index. The research will reveal the mechanisms of the structural color of 2D crossing grating butterfly wings.

Association of microRNA-3144 variant with the susceptibility to hepatocellular carcinoma

        Jun Zhang,Yi Liu,Jie Liu,Rui Wang,Min Cai,Shunji Yu,Yanyun Ma,Weihong Xu,Chunfang Gao,Jiucun Wang,Lifang Hou 한국유전학회 2014 Genes & Genomics Vol.36 No.6

Increasing studies suggest that microRNAs, anew group of small non-coding molecules, regulate theexpression of their target genes and play some roles in cancers. Thus, it is hypothesized that the genetic variants ofmicroRNAs could contribute to the susceptibility to cancers. In this study, the association between rs67106263 in microRNA-3144 and the risk of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC)was explored in a large-scaled case–control population basedon MassARRAY technology. It was discovered that comparedwith the carriers of wide-type GG genotype and heterozygoteGA genotype of microRNA-3144, thesignificantly increased risk of HCC was observed in thesubjects with the homozygote variant AA (adjusted oddsratio = 1.285, 95 % confidence interval = 1.004–1.643,P = 0.046). Additionally, the variant was also associatedwith the expression of alpha fetoprotein (AFP), which is thediagnostic marker for HCC. Our findings suggest for the firsttime that rs67106263 may play some roles in the risk of HCC,expecting future molecular researches to elucidate the possiblemechanisms behind these results.

      • ODV-Associated Proteins of the <i>Pieris rapae</i> Granulovirus

        Wang, Xiao-Feng,Zhang, Bao-Qin,Xu, Hai-Jun,Cui, Ying-Jun,Xu, Yi-Peng,Zhang, Min-Juan,Han, Yeon Soo,Lee, Yong Seok,Bao, Yan-Yuan,Zhang, Chuan-Xi American Chemical Society 2011 JOURNAL OF PROTEOME RESEARCH Vol.10 No.6

<P><I>Alphabaculovirus</I> (lepidopteran-specific nucleopolyhedroviruses, NPV) and <I>Betabaculovirus</I> (granuloviruses, GV) are two main genera of the family Baculoviridae. The virion proteomes of <I>Alphabaculovirus</I> have been well studied; however, the <I>Betabaculovirus</I> virion compositions remain unclear. <I>Pieris rapae</I> granulovirus (PrGV) can kill larvae of <I>P. rapae</I>, a worldwide and important pest of mustard family crops. In this study, the occlusion-derived virus (ODV)-associated proteins of PrGV were identified using three mass spectrometry (MS) approaches. The MS analyses demonstrated that 47 proteins were present in PrGV-ODV. Of the 47 PrGV-ODV proteins, 33 have homologues identified previously in other baculovirus ODV/BVs, whereas 14 (P10, Pr21, Pr29, Pr35, Pr42, Pr54, P45/48, Pr83, Pr84, Pr89, Pr92, Pr111, Pr114 and FGF3) were newly identified ODV proteins. Seven of the 14 newly identified ODV proteins are specific to <I>Betabaculovirus</I>, including Pr35, Pr42, Pr54, Pr83, Pr84, Pr111 and Pr114. Furthermore, the data derived from these MS approaches were validated by immunoblotting analysis using antisera prepared from 11 randomly selected recombinant PrGV-ODV proteins (including 5 <I>Betabaculovirus</I>-unique proteins). Comparison analyses revealed the similar and different compositions between <I>Betabaculovirus</I> and <I>Alphabaculovirus</I> virions, which deepen our understanding of the baculovirus virion structure and provide helpful information on <I>Betabaculovirus</I>–host interaction studies.</P><P>We used three mass spectrometry (MS) approaches to identify the occlusion-derived virus (ODV)-associated proteins of the <I>Pieris rapae</I> Granulovirus. • FNC, a Novel Nucleoside Analogue, Blocks Invasion of Aggressive Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma Cell Lines Via Inhibition of the Wnt/β-Catenin Signaling Pathway

        Zhang, Yan,Wang, Chen-Ping,Ding, Xi-Xi,Wang, Ning,Ma, Fang,Jiang, Jin-Hua,Wang, Qing-Duan,Chang, Jun-Biao Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.16

Chemotherapy is the primary therapy for malignant lymphoma (ML). However, the clinical outcome is still far from satisfactory. Consequently, an understanding of the mechanism of modulating cancer cell invasion, migration and metastasis is important for the development of more effective chemotherapeutic agents. FNC, 2'-deoxy-2'-${\beta}$-fluoro-4'-azidocytidine, a novel cytidine analogue, has demonstrated significantly inhibitory effects on proliferation of several non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) cell lines. A previous study indicated that FNC effectively inhibited the growth of Raji and JeKo-1 cells in dose-time dependent effects with $IC_{50}$ values of $0.2{\mu}M$ and $0.097{\mu}M$, respectively. This study was focused on investigating the anti-invasive properties of FNC on NHL cells and its potential mechanisms of action. Cell adhesion and transwell chamber assays were utilized to investigate the anti-invasive effects of FNC on Raji and JeKo-1 cells. Real-time PCR and Western blotting were employed to qualify the expression of ${\beta}$-catenin, the glycogen synthase kinase-3 beta (GSK-$3{\beta}$), E-cadherin vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) and matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9). The results revealed that FNC remarkably inhibited the adhesion, migration and invasion of two human aggressive non-Hodgkin lymphoma cell lines in a dose dependent manner. Furthermore, ${\beta}$-catenin, MMP-2, MMP-9, VEGF mRNA and protein levels were decreased after FNC treatment, while GSK-$3{\beta}$ and E-cadherin increased. Our studies thus provide evidence and a rationale that FNC may offer an effective chemotherapeutic agent by regulating the invasion and metastasis of aggressive non-Hodgkin lymphoma via inhibition of the Wnt/${\beta}$-catenin signaling pathway.

Physical properties and chemical composition of the cores in the California molecular cloud

        Zhang, Guo-Yin,Xu, Jin-Long,Vasyunin, A. I.,Semenov, D. A.,Wang, Jun-Jie,Dib, Sami,Liu, Tie,Liu, Sheng-Yuan,Zhang, Chuan-Peng,Liu, Xiao-Lan,Wang, Ke,Li, Di,Wu, Zhong-Zu,Yuan, Jing-Hua,Li, Da-Lei,Gao, Springer-Verlag 2018 Astronomy and astrophysics Vol.620 No.-

<P><I>Aims.</I> We aim to reveal the physical properties and chemical composition of the cores in the California molecular cloud (CMC), so as to better understand the initial conditions of star formation.</P><P><I>Methods.</I> We made a high-resolution column density map (18.2′′) with <I>Herschel</I> data, and extracted a complete sample of the cores in the CMC with the fellwalker algorithm. We performed new single-pointing observations of molecular lines near 90 GHz with the IRAM 30m telescope along the main filament of the CMC. In addition, we also performed a numerical modeling of chemical evolution for the cores under the physical conditions.</P><P><I>Results.</I> We extracted 300 cores, of which 33 are protostellar and 267 are starless cores. About 51% (137 of 267) of the starless cores are prestellar cores. Three cores have the potential to evolve into high-mass stars. The prestellar core mass function (CMF) can be well fit by a log-normal form. The high-mass end of the prestellar CMF shows a power-law form with an index <I>α</I> = −0.9 ± 0.1 that is shallower than that of the Galactic field stellar mass function. Combining the mass transformation efficiency (<I>ε</I>) from the prestellar core to the star of 15 ± 1% and the core formation efficiency (CFE) of 5.5%, we suggest an overall star formation efficiency of about 1% in the CMC. In the single-pointing observations with the IRAM 30m telescope, we find that 6 cores show blue-skewed profile, while 4 cores show red-skewed profile. [HCO+]/[HNC] and [HCO+]/[N2H+] in protostellar cores are higher than those in prestellar cores; this can be used as chemical clocks. The best-fit chemical age of the cores with line observations is ~5 × 104 yr.</P>

Step-up switched-capacitor multilevel inverter employing multiple inputs with reduced switches

Wang, Yaoqiang,Wang, Zhe,Liu, Wenjun,Zhang, Yun,Wang, Kewen,Liang, Jun The Korean Institute of Power Electronics 2021 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.21 No.7

A large device count, weak boosting capability, and DC voltage imbalance are common issues in conventional multilevel inverters. In this paper, a novel multilevel inverter is presented that can generate the desired number of output levels with reduced devices by using new switched-capacitor circuits (SCCs). The two input sources and capacitors in the SCC can be switched in parallel and series modes. In the parallel mode, the capacitor voltage of the SCC is charged to the DC source voltage, which inherently solves the capacitor voltage imbalance issue without any auxiliary circuits. In the series mode, the capacitor can be used as an alternative source, which helps achieve a high voltage gain. The multiple input sources of the SCC make the proposed topology suitable for application in renewable energy generation systems where several DC sources are available. Instead of an H-bridge module, a structure with two half-bridges and two switches is used as a polarity generation circuit at the load terminal. The input sources of two SCCs can be selected as symmetric and asymmetric patterns, which can result in a great number of output voltage levels. The circuit topology, operational principle, modulation strategy, capacitor analysis, and performance comparisons of the inverter are described in this paper. In addition, experimental results verify the feasibility and validity of the inverter.

      • Clinical Significance of SH2B1 Adaptor Protein Expression in Non-small Cell Lung Cancer

        Zhang, Hang,Duan, Chao-Jun,Chen, Wei,Wang, Shao-Qiang,Zhang, Sheng-Kang,Dong, Shuo,Cheng, Yuan-Da,Zhang, Chun-Fang Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.5

The SH2B1 adaptor protein is recruited to multiple ligand-activated receptor tyrosine kinases that play important role in the physiologic and pathologic features of many cancers. The purpose of this study was to assess SH2B1 expression and to explore its contribution to the non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Methods: SH2B1 expression in 114 primary NSCLC tissue specimens was analyzed by immunohistochemistry and correlated with clinicopathological parameters and patients' outcome. Additionally, 15 paired NSCLC background tissues, 5 NSCLC cell lines and a normal HBE cell line were evaluated for SH2B1 expression by RT-PCR and immunoblotting, immunofluorescence being applied for the cell lines. Results: SH2B1 was found to be overexpressed in NSCLC tissues and NSCLC cell lines. More importantly, high SH2B1 expression was significantly associated with tumor grade, tumor size, clinical stage, lymph node metastasis, and recurrence respectively. Survival analysis demonstrated that patients with high SH2B1 expression had both poorer disease-free survival and overall survival than other patients. Multivariate Cox regression analysis revealed that SH2B1 overexpression was an independent prognostic factor for patients with NSCLC. Conclusions: Our findings suggest that the SH2B1 protein may contribute to the malignant progression of NSCLC and could offer a novel prognostic indicator for patients with NSCLC.

Clerodane furanoditerpenoids from the stems of Tinospora sinensis

        Jun-Sheng Zhang,De-Feng Xu,Yin-Yin Wang,Ren-Fen Ma,Hua Zhang 대한약학회 2022 Archives of Pharmacal Research Vol.45 No.5

One new clerodane-type furanoditerpenoidtinosinoid A ( 1 ) and nine new nor-clerodane analogs tinosinoids B–J ( 2 − 10 ) have been isolated from the stems ofTinospora sinensis . The structures of the new compoundswith absolute confi gurations have been elucidated by spectroscopicmeans, including MS, NMR and ECD techniques,as well as chemical correlation. Compound 1 is a rare sulfurcontainingclerodane diterpenoid incorporating a 2-mercaptoethanolunit via a thioether bond, while compounds 4 / 5and 9 represent two pairs of unusual equilibrium regioisomersthrough an interesting intramolecular transesterifi cation. Our bioassays established that 1 and 8 displayed moderateantiproliferative eff ects against two human tumor celllines, and 9 and 10 showed signifi cant α -glucosidase inhibitoryactivities. A kinetics study revealed that compound 10was a noncompetitive α -glucosidase inhibitor, and its possiblebinding mode to the enzyme was further probed bymolecular docking experiments.

Early Enteral Nutrition and Sepsis-Associated Acute Kidney Injury: A Propensity Score Matched Cohort Study Based on the MIMIC-III Database

        Jun Wang,Li Jiang,Sheng Ding,Si-Yi He,Shun-Bi Liu,Zhong-Jie Lu,Yuan-Zhang Liu,Li-Wen Hou,Bin-Su Wang,Jin-Bao Zhang 연세대학교의과대학 2023 Yonsei medical journal Vol.64 No.4

Purpose: We aimed to analyze the optimal timing of enteral nutrition (EN) in the treatment of sepsis and its effect on sepsis-asso ciated acute kidney injury (SA-AKI.)Materials and Methods: The MIMIC-III database was employed to identify patients with sepsis who had received EN. With AKI as the primary outcome variable, receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were utilized to calculate the optimal cut-off time of early EN (EEN). Propensity score matching (PSM) was employed to control confounding effects. Logistic regressions and propen sity score-based inverse probability of treatment weighting were utilized to assess the robustness of our findings. Comparisons within the EEN group were performed. Results: 2364 patients were included in our study. With 53 hours after intensive care units (ICU) admission as the cut-off time of EEN according to the ROC curve, 1212 patients were assigned to the EEN group and the other 1152 to the delayed EN group. The risk of SA-AKI was reduced in the EEN group (odds ratio 0.319, 95% confidence interval 0.245–0.413, p<0.001). The EEN patients re ceived fewer volumes (mL) of intravenous fluid (IVF) during their ICU stay (3750 mL vs. 5513.23 mL, p<0.001). The mediating ef fect of IVF was significant (p<0.001 for the average causal mediation effect). No significant differences were found within the EEN group (0–48 hours vs. 48–53 hours), except that patients initiating EN within 48 hours spent fewer days in ICU and hospital. Conclusion: EEN is associated with decreased risk of SA-AKI, and this beneficial effect may be proportionally mediated by IVF volume.
