Tran Thi Huyen,Phan Thi Hoang Anh,Nguyen Thi Anh Hong,Nguyen Ngoc Duyen,Le Pham Tan Quoc,Tran Dinh Thang 한국수산과학회 2023 Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences Vol.26 No.4
The robust development of frog farming offered high economic benefits but created a large waste residue of frog bones and skin that received little attention. Over the years, inedible by-products have often been processed into biomolecules of potential value and environmental benefits, such as collagen, gelatin, and bioactive peptides. An overview of bioactive compounds on frog skins from various countries indicated that brevinin was the most abundant biological peptide found in frog skin. Other remaining compounds also possessed their highlighted activities, including antibacterial, stimulating insulin release and gastric hormone release, anti-cancer, and neuroregulatory. Notably, various components have been analyzed in the structure and sequence to give meaningful insight into clustering components related to their biological activity. This review may create a source of raw materials for the developmental research of by-products from frog skin and concomitantly reduce environmental pollution.

A series of N-substituted-1,2,3-triazole murrayafolineAderivativeswere successfully synthesized usingclick azide–alkyne Huisgen cycloaddition reaction between1-methoxy-3-methyl-9-(3-azido)-propyl-9H-carbazole andsubstituted alkynes. Their chemical structures were confirmedby 1H, 13C NMR and HR-ESI–MS spectral data. Inaddition, the interested effects on LPS-stimulated productionof pro-inflammatory cytokines in bone marrow-deriveddendritic cells of synthetic murrayafoline A derivatives werealso investigated. Our results indicated that murrayafoline Aderivatives containing 1,2,3-triazole nucleus potentiallypossessed anti-inflammatory action through inhibiting productionof IL-6, IL-12 p40 and TNF-a.
One Rank Cuckoo Search Algorithm for Bi-Objective Load Dispatch Problem
Cuong Dinh Tran,Thang Trung Nguyen,Hanh Minh Hoang,Bao Quoc Nguyen 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Grid and Distributed Comp Vol.9 No.4
This paper presents the application of a One Rank Cuckoo Search Algorithm (ORCSA) to bi-objective load dispatch (BOLD) problem where two objectives including fuel and emission are taken into consideration. ORCSA is an improvement of basic Cuckoo search algorithm (BCSA) where several modifications are carried out so as to improve the performance of the BCSA. The performance of the proposed ORCSA is validated by using two systems including a three-unit system with one load case and a six-unit system with three load cases and comparing the obtained results with other methods available in the article. The analysis on the result comparison indicates that the ORCSA is very efficient for the problem.

Recycling biomass to cellulose aerogel (Cell-A) provides a promising approach to develop adsorbent materials for spilled-oil recovery. In this work, Cell-A was fabricated from Vietnamese water hyacinth via crosslinking methods using PVA as a crosslinker and freeze-drying process. Various cellulose to PVA ratios were investigated to obtain the optimal synthesis condition. The Cell-A was additionally modified by dip-coating in poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS) and pyrolyzing to form PDMS-coated cellulose aerogels (Cell-AP) and carbon aerogels (CA), respectively. Results of the oil adsorption tests show that pyrolysis produced aerogels with greater adsorption capacity with an optimal mass ratio of 15 : 1 cellulose to PVA. Furthermore, the pseudo-second-order model was found to be more accurate than the pseudo-first-order model for the study of oil absorption kinetics. As a result, the modified cellulose aerogel is promising for replacing earth-unfriendly polymer-based oil sorbents due to their high oil absorption capacity.

OBJECTIVES: The prevalence of diabetes mellitus is rapidly increasing in Vietnam, particularly among adults aged over 45 years. This study estimated trends in diabetes and prediabetes prevalence and determined risk factors in Vietnamese adults (over 45 years). METHODS: A cross-sectional study was conducted based on data from an annual diabetes screening program among people aged 45-69 years in an urban city in central Vietnam (Da Nang). Joinpoint regression analyses were performed to calculate the annual percentage change and ptrend-values. Multinomial logistic regression analysis was used to determine risk factors. RESULTS: In total, 3,765 men and 9,149 women were included in this analysis. The age-adjusted prevalence of diabetes and prediabetes in 2017 was 11.4% and 52.9%, respectively. The prevalence of diabetes was higher in men (15.1%) than in women (10.3%), but that of prediabetes was similar in both genders (53.4% vs. 52.8%). The prevalence of prediabetes significantly increased during the study period, whereas no upward or downward trend for diabetes was observed. The prevalence of obesity, abdominal obesity, hypertension, and dyslipidemia showed no obvious trend. Obesity, a high waist-to-hip ratio, hypertension, more severe abdominal obesity, and dyslipidemia were significantly associated with a higher risk of diabetes and prediabetes. CONCLUSIONS: Diabetes and prediabetes were more prevalent among people aged over 45 years than in the general population. Da Nang has experienced a marked increase in the prevalence of prediabetes. These findings have significant implications regarding the need for nationwide public health interventions and management aiming at diabetes prevention and control.

Radar absorbing materials (RAMs) for practical applications are expected not only to have strong microwaveabsorption and a wide absorption bandwidth, but also to be lightweight, to have a fine thickness and acceptablestructural performance, as well as being cost-effective. Although the dispersion of carbon-nanofillers in polymermatrices is a key factor determining the microwave absorbing properties of the composites, there have few studieson these effects. To our knowledge, to date, the realization of pristine multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT)/polymercomposites as RAMs in industrial production has been restricted, due to high CNT contents or large composite thicknesses. Thus, in this work, two MWCNT dispersion processing methods, a solution process with surfactant-aid anda ball-milling dispersion, were investigated to fabricate pristine MWCNT/epoxy nanocomposites. The effects of thedifferent dispersion processes, CNT loading, and composite thickness on CNT dispersion in the matrix, were observedby TEM, and the electrical conductivity and X-band absorbing performance of the composites were assessed. Theuse of an ionic surfactant to aid the dispersion of CNTs in solution resulted in the best RAMs, with a good compromiseamong effective X-band absorption, small composite thickness, and very low CNT content. The ball-millingmethod also resulted in materials with a low CNT content and microwave absorbing performance acceptable forindustrial applications. Moreover, it offers a very simple and efficient route suitable for low-cost, mass productionof RAMs. The results showed that by facile approaches of dispersing pristine commercial MWCNTs in an epoxyresin matrix, composites of only 2-3 mm thickness and as little as 0.25-0.5 wt% CNT loading could be obtained, with a relatively wide X-band operating bandwidth and maximum absorptions exceeding 18-25 dB.
