On July 10, 2018, the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) issued a statement on proposed action of an additional 10% duty on products of China worth approximately $200 billion. The USTR lists out 6,031 tariff subheadings in an annex to the announcement that will be subject to the 10% ad valorem duty. This action by the USTR is in response to a directive from the President to identify additional trade remedy actions that the US could take in response to China’s retaliatory tariffs based on US imposition of 25% tariffs on $34 billion in Chinese imports. The USTR will seek public comments and will hold a public hearing for the proposed additional tariffs. Thus this is the right time to suggest alternative dispute resolution initiating such as arbitration and mediation.

야에서의 혁신이 전에 없던 속도로 이루어지고 있으며, 정보화 사회에서 초연결 디지털 사회로의 전환 과정에서 인류가 그간 쌓아온 지식과 기술이 새로운 가치 및 기업 경쟁력의 창출 기반이 되는 시대을 맞이하고 있으며, 이 같은 움직임들은 세계의 공급자와 소비자들을 하나로 통합하는 글로벌 협업 및 초경쟁의 시대로 나아가고 있다. 특히 신패러다임으로서의 브랜드 가치중심 및 감성 주도의 소비자 경험 (UX: User Experience) 경영이 급속도로 부상하고 있으며, 글로벌 기업들은 이러한 포괄적인 브랜드 전략 경영을 위한 새로운 기업 경영방향에 대해서 깊이있게 이해하고 소비자에게 소구하여야 할 것이다. 패러다임이란 미래를 예측하는 데 사용하는 프레임워크로 정의되어지며, 기업들에게 4차산업혁명 시대의 감성 주도 및 직관적인 소비자 니즈 환경 변화에 적합한 경영 패러다임으로의 전환이 여러 분야에서 지속적으로 요구되어지고 있다. 과거 1차 및 2차 산업혁명 사회의 물리적 경쟁력을 기반으로 한 기업간 경쟁은, 비슷한 기능의 제품을 누가 조금 더 값싸고 빠르게 만들어 공급할 수 있는 경영 능력을 보유하고 있는지에 따라 기업의 성패가 갈렸다. 그러나 거대한 초연결을 기반으로 하는 최근의 커넥티드 경영 환경하에서는, 제품의 본질적인 기능보다도 개개인의 감성, 개성 및 문화적인 가치까지 고려하여 다양한 소비자들의 만족도를 극대화한 후, 그러한 체험을 상대방과 실시간으로 공유하는 경험 단계까지를 제공해 줄 수 있는 역량을 가진 기업들에게 고객들이 반응하고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 기업의 국제 경쟁력을 가장 중요한 경쟁우위로 정의하고, 4차산업혁명 시대의 브랜드 경영을 위한 유의미한 요인들을 확인함과 동시에 기업경영의 전략적 패러다임을 제시할 수 있도록 다양한 사례를 중심으로 시사점과 기업 경쟁력 확보 방안을 함께 분석하였다. The global economy led by the fourth industrial revolution in the 21st century is centered on two major keywords: Internet and digital. Innovation in all fields is at a pace that has never happened before. In the transition from information society to digital society, Is moving into the era when knowledge and technology accumulated over the years are the foundation of new value creation. These movements are moving toward global collaboration and supercompetition that unifies suppliers and consumers all over the world. Especially, as a new paradigm, brand value-oriented and emotion-driven consumer experience (UX) management is rapidly emerging. Global companies are expected to deeply understand the direction of management strategy for comprehensive brand management. The paradigm is defined as a framework used to predict the future, and it is continuously demanded for companies to shift to a management paradigm that is sensitive to the emotion of the 4th industrial revolution era and intuitive consumer needs environment change have. In the past, the level of competition among the industrial societies has declined according to whether or not they have the management ability to supply and supply products that meet the same essential functions at a low price. However, in a recent connected management environment based on a gigantic connection, it is necessary to maximize the satisfaction of consumers by taking into consideration the emotional, individual, and cultural values of each individual rather than the essential functions of the product, Customers are responding to companies that have the capacity to provide up to. In this study, we define the international competitiveness of companies as the most important competitive advantage, identify meaningful factors for brand management in the era of the fourth industrial revolution and focus on various cases to understand the new paradigm of corporate management. It also suggests ways to secure corporate competitiveness.

트럼프 행정부의 대북정책 전망

Mr Donald Trump was elected as the 45th President of the United States of America by general election on November 8, 2016. Trump won the election despite most of the medias` prediction of Clinton`s advantage. During the presidential election campaign, Trump was harshly criticized by the public including the Republicans due to his unpredictable behaviors. However, he overcame all the huddles, and finally won against Clinton. President-elect Trump has named four retired military officers as head of the National Security Council, Defense, Homeland Security and Central Intelligence Agency. All four are hard-liners on foreign and security policy, particularly on counter-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. Thus, Trump administration`s policy towards North Korea can be predicted in three categories: First, the possibility of operating surgical strikes to demolish WMDs and to end Kim`s regime is highly probable. The second possibility is to make a deal with Pyongyang by providing economic incentives in exchange of the removal of WMDs. Like Libya and Iran cases, it has already been proven as a very useful solution, bringing a significant benefit to both sides avoiding harmful military conflict. Third, following in the footsteps of the Obama administration can be another option for Trump administration. Whenever North Korea made military provocation, the US played a leading role in the UN Security Council for adopting a resolution against their actions.

우크라이나전쟁이 한국안보에 주는 시사점

Russian military invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022. Ukraine applied European Union membership, and many East European countries already joined the EU. Thus, it is natural to join the EU for Ukraine, but Russia tried to stop Ukraine’s moving towards the EU by the invasion. International community, headed by the United Nations, immediately reacted against Russia’s illegal invasion and assisted Ukraine with a lot of military equipment and weapon systems and rescue funds. Russia’s invasion unexpectedly became a protracted war instead of rapid victory. Ukraine military has fought well and defeated Russian army almost all over the frontal lines. Russian military now takes a defensive posture. The lesson of this war for the ROK is as follow: First, the ROK should maintain a liberal democracy that secures basic human rights. Second, the ROK should have reasonably sufficient military power for its national defense. Ukraine failed to defend its nation country due to insufficient defense capability. Without foreign military assistance, Ukraine could not but surrendering already. Thus, the ROK should build a reasonably sufficient defense capability including Kill chain, KAMD and KMPR. Third, Korean-made-defense products are highly evaluated by international community through Ukraine war. Poland already contracted with Korea purchasing 48 FA-50s fighters, 980 K-2 tanks and 648 K-9 Howitzers. And many countries are actively trying to purchase K-defense products. Forth, strategic alliance is crucial for strengthening national security. Ukraine is still fighting well owing to foreign military assistance. Thus, it is very important for the ROK to strengthen the alliances and friendship with foreign countries in peacetime. Finally, the unity of national people is the most important thing for the survival. When the war broke out, President Zellenskii and former president Poroshenko campaigned for patriotic war-fighting against Russian invaders, and it strongly appealed to international community. Thus, many countries joined in supporting Ukraine and provided a lot of military assistance. Owing to this support Ukraine could strongly resist against Russian invasion.
