<P>We investigated the cutoff values of surrogate of insulin resistance for diagnosing metabolic syndrome in Korean adults. The data from 976 non-diabetic individuals (484 men and 492 women) aged 30-79 yr were analyzed. We determined the odds ratios for the prevalence of metabolic syndrome according to the quartiles of fasting insulin, homeostasis model for insulin resistance (HOMA-IR), and quantitative insulin sensitivity check index (QUICKI) as independent variables, while adjusting for age, sex, and body mass index. The cutoff values of fasting insulin, HOMA-IR, and QUICKI were estimated by the areas under the receiver-operating characteristic (ROC) curves. The cutoff points for defining insulin resistance are a fasting insulin level of 12.94 µU/mL, HOMA-IR=3.04 as the 75th percentile value, and QUICKI=0.32 as the 25th percentile value. Compared with the lowest quartile, the adjusted odds ratios for the prevalence of metabolic syndrome in the highest quartiles of fasting insulin, HOMA-IR, and QUICKI were 1.95 (1.26-3.01), 2.27 (1.45-3.56), and 2.27 (1.45-3.56), respectively. The respective cutoff values for fasting serum insulin, HOMA-IR, and QUICKI by ROC analysis were 10.57 µU/mL (sensitivity 58.5%, specificity 66.8%), 2.34 (sensitivity 62.8%, specificity 65.7%), and 0.33 (sensitivity 61.2%, specificity 66.8%). Fasting insulin, HOMA-IR, and QUICKI can be used as surrogate measures of insulin resistance in Korean non-diabetic adults.</P>

<P>Pachydermoperiostosis (PDP), or primary hypertrophic osteoarthropathy, is a rare genetic disease affecting both skin and bones. Both autosomal dominant with incomplete penetrance and recessive inheritance of PDP have been previously confirmed. Recently, hydroxyprostaglandin dehydrogenase (<I>HPGD</I>) and solute carrier organic anion transporter family member 2A1 (<I>SLCO2A1</I>) were reported as pathogenic genes responsible for PDP. Both genes are involved in prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) degradation. We aimed to identify responsible genes for PDP and the clinical features in Korean patients with PDP. Six affected individuals and their available healthy family members from three unrelated Korean families with PDP were studied. All of the patients displayed complete phenotypes of PDP with finger clubbing, pachydermia, and periostosis. Mutation analysis revealed a novel heterozygous mutation in the <I>SLCO2A1</I> gene at nucleotide 302 causing a substitution of the amino acid isoleucine to serine at codon 101 (p.IIe101Ser) in affected individuals. We also identified known <I>SLCO2A1</I> mutations, one homozygous for c.940+1G>A, and another compound heterozygous for c.940+1G>A and c.1807C>T (p.Arg603*) from two PDP families. Genetic analyses of the PDP patients showed no abnormality in the <I>HPGD</I> gene. Our study further supports the role of mutations in the <I>SLCO2A1</I> gene in the pathogenesis of PDP and could provide additional clues to the genotype-phenotype relations of PDP.</P>

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>In the present work, a new pattern-free heliostat layout optimization methodology based on the genetic algorithm is introduced. This method is developed to speed up the optimization process attempting to find the global optimum. The novel part of the proposed method is that multiple neighboring heliostats are optimized simultaneously with nearly no restrictions. The proposed methodology is tested with a standard performance analysis model that calculates the annual insolation weighted optical efficiency of the heliostat layout. In order to improve the flexibility of the shadowing and blocking for more complex cases, in which the reflecting polygon is divided into multiple polygons, we adopt the polygon clipping algorithm. With the proposed pattern-free optimization methodology, the insolation weighted optical efficiency of the PS10 heliostat layout has been improved by 0.6% point with 3.7% reduction in the heliostat field area.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Performance analysis model for a heliostat layout is presented. </LI> <LI> Cell-wise sorting is implemented for fast neighboring heliostat selection and optimization. </LI> <LI> Complex shadowing and blocking is developed with polygon clipping algorithm. </LI> <LI> Fast and non-restricted pattern-free optimization methodology proposed. </LI> </UL> </P>

As the Internet advertising is developing the Korean standard for Internet advertising has been a need in the market during recent years. This imaginary organization will take responsibility on proposing and maintenance of the standard. For design major stakeholders of the market have participated as one of the discussant for the design of the structure. In the purpose of be a foundation for the development of the Internet advertising Industry in Korea. To design a Internet Advertising Standard Organization the group of stakeholders held several meetings for studying the major results of standard of the Internet advertising and out side Korean Standards. As a result the design of the standard organization for Internet advertising.
온라인 행태정보 분석에 기반한 맞춤형 광고의 규제 정책에 관한 연구

본 연구는 광고의 개념과 유형의 변화와 그에 따른 규제 이슈를 조망해 보고, 개인정보 보호와 프라이버시 이슈가 가장 크게 나타날 수 있는 온라인 행태정보 분석과 그것을 기반으로 하는 맞춤형 광고의 바람직한 규제 방안을 모색해 보는 것을 연구목적으로 하고 있다. 구체적으로 ① 광고 환경의 변화와 규제 이슈, ② 방송통신위원회의 규제 가이드 라인(안)에 대한 검토, ③ 온라인 맞춤형 광고에 대한 소비자 의견, ④ 온라인 행태정보 수집과 맞춤형 광고 규제 정책의 바람직한 방향에 대해서 논의하고자 하였다. 분석결과, 새로운 광고유형들이 소비자들의 행태정보를 기반으로 하기 때문에 이에 대한 규제가 필요하지만, 방송통신위원회의 가이드 라인의 일부 조항은 문제가 있는 것으로 나타났다. This study attempts to propose the regulation policy of the personal targeting advertising based on online behavior analysis, And this study also attempts to investigate the new regulation issues because of changing in advertising concept and typology. This study focuses on four subjects; ① Change of advertising enviroment and regulation issues, ② The review of guideline to online behavior analysis by KCC(Korea Communications Commission), ③ Consumers" opinion and attitude toward to personal targeting advertising, ④ The suitable regulation policy of the personal targeting advertising based on online behavior analysis.
