High-iron consumption decreases copper accumulation and colon length, and alters serum lipids

In this study, we aimed to demonstrate that a significant increase in dietary iron intake disrupts the regulation of copper availability, ultimately leading to systemic copper deficiency. To investigate this, we conducted experiments using five-week-old male weanling Sprague–Dawley rats fed diets based on AIN-93G with some modifications. These diets featured varying iron content, offering choices of adequate iron (~ 120 μg/g, near the upper limit [UL]) or high iron (~ 7544 μg/g), along with low (~ 0.3 μg/g), adequate (~ 6 μg/g), or high (~ 153 μg/g) levels of dietary copper over a 5-week period. Rats consuming the high-iron diets displayed anemia, reduced copper levels in their organs and feces, and shortened colon lengths. Increased dietary iron intake resulted in an overall reduction in copper distribution within the body, likely leading to severe copper deficiency-related disorders in the experimental rats. However, the physiological disturbances caused by a high-iron diet were prevented when additional copper was included in the rodent diet. Furthermore, high iron intake led to copper deprivation, and high iron consumption resulted in elevated serum cholesterol levels. However, increasing dietary copper consumption led to a decrease in overall serum cholesterol levels. Additionally, serum alkaline phosphate and aspartate aminotransferase levels were increased by high-iron feeding, regardless of dietary copper concentration, while alanine aminotransferase levels decreased.
Gain-switched Ti:sapphire laser-based photoacoustic imaging

<P>We demonstrate photoacoustic (PA) imaging using a compact gain-switched Ti:sapphire laser. Additionally, a simple laser configuration is provided. The Ti: sapphire laser is pumped using a frequency-doubled pulsed neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet pulse laser operating at a repetition rate of 10 Hz, with a pump energy of 37 mJ. No water cooling is required for the Ti: sapphire crystal. The output pulse energy and pulse duration of the laser are 13.6 mJ and 11 ns, respectively. Thus, the power conversion efficiency is 36.7%. As the end mirror in a laser cavity is adjusted in a horizontal direction, the output wavelength can be tuned within a range of 725-880 nm with a spectral bandwidth of approximately 1 nm. The laser has a small footprint size of 50 cm x 35 cm including even laser pumping. Because the near-infrared region has significant advantages in the context of absorption and scattering in biological tissues, our laser can be used for PA imaging. Apart from obtaining PA images of a tube filled with indocyanine green immersed in water and placed under chicken breast tissue, our laser system could also be used for the simultaneous PA and ultrasound (US) dual-modality imaging of blood vessels lying beneath the skin of a human middle finger. 디지털 지형 고도 데이터를 이용한 자동 지형 추종 시뮬레이터 개발

본 논문에서는 디지털 지형 고도 데이터를 이용한 자동 지형 추종 시뮬레이터를 제안하였다. ATF Simulator는 Flight Simulator, Radar Simulator, TFC Simulator로 구성하였다. 지형 추종에 필요한 지형 정보로 디지털 지형 고도 데이터와 디지털 지형 고도 데이터를 이용하여 생성한 레이다 스캔 데이터를 활용하였다. ATF Simulator는 디지털 지형 고도 데이터를 이용하는 Passive mode, 레이다 스캔 데이터를 이용하는 Active mode, 두 가지 모두 이용하는 Hybrid mode로 세 가지 운용모드를 제공한다. LabVIEW 개발 환경과 MATLAB App Designer 개발 환경을 통해 지형 추종 시스템 개발에 소요되는 비용 및 시간을 줄일 수 있는 ATF Simulator를 개발하였으며 기능요구사항을 충족하는지 확인하여 검증하였다. In this paper, an Automatic Terrain Following (ATF) Simulator using Digital Terrain Elevation Data (DTED) was proposed. This ATF Simulator consists of a Flight Simulator, a Radar Simulator, and a Terrain Following Computer (TFC) Simulator. DTED and radar scan data generated with DTED were used as the terrain information necessary for terrain following. The ATF Simulator provides three modes of operation: a passive mode that uses DTED, an active mode that uses radar scan data, and a hybrid mode that uses both. We developed an ATF Simulator that could reduce the cost and time required to develop a terrain following system using the LabVIEW development environment and the MATLAB App Designer development environment. It was verified by confirming that the ATF Simulator met all functional requirements.

Meta-aramid and polyamic acid were separated and the manufactured films were analyzed for their integration and logarithmic properties. The miscibility of meta-aramid and polyamic acid was analyzed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscop and scanning electron microscopy. Using calorimetric analysis and differential scanning calorimetry, the storage of meta-aramid and polyamic acid, indicated on the right side of the column, was analyzed. It was confirmed that the initial thermal resistance occurs because the polyamic acid is accounted for in the meta-aramid, and the glass transition temperature and persistence phenomenon are explained.
