Breaking Limitations: Constraints and Strategies of Indonesian Migrant Entrepreneurship in Taiwan

( Rita Pawestri Setyaningsih ),( Paulus Rudolf Yuniarto ),( Yuherina Gusman ) 부산외국어대학교 아세안연구원 2023 Suvannabhumi Vol.15 No.2

As migrants develop businesses abroad, entrepreneurship needs specific strategies due to some barriers when establishing and doing businesses. This paper examines the kinds of problems that have been faced in Indonesian migrant entrepreneurships in Taiwan and how the entrepreneurs cope with the difficulties. They use structural and cultural strategies for survival, seize the opportunities for self-development, and develop future careers. Research result shows that the limitations of Indonesian entrepreneurships in Taiwan are related to institutional issues, migrant status, business regulations, resource-providing institutions, language barriers, competition among migrants and locals, and capital. Hence, migrant entrepreneurs must conduct strategic actions to continue their businesses by developing innovations to grow and survive. Some measures include changing from offline to online marketing especially when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, product diversification using migrants and local people's assistance and networks, and setting competitive prices. This paper is based on qualitative research. The data were obtained through interviews in East Java-Indonesia and in Taiwan in 2022. The data were analysed using the descriptive analysis with sociological perspectives.

Automatic Method for Optic Disc Segmentation Using Deep Learning on Retinal Fundus Images

        Anindita Septiarini,Hamdani Hamdani,Emy Setyaningsih,Eko Junirianto,Fitri Utaminingrum 대한의료정보학회 2023 Healthcare Informatics Research Vol.29 No.2

Objectives: The optic disc is part of the retinal fundus image structure, which influences the extraction of glaucoma features. This study proposes a method that automatically segments the optic disc area in retinal fundus images using deep learningbased on a convolutional neural network (CNN). Methods: This study used private and public datasets containing retinalfundus images. The private dataset consisted of 350 images, while the public dataset was the Retinal Fundus Glaucoma Challenge(REFUGE). The proposed method was based on a CNN with a single-shot multibox detector (MobileNetV2) to formimages of the region-of-interest (ROI) using the original image resized into 640 × 640 input data. A pre-processing sequencewas then implemented, including augmentation, resizing, and normalization. Furthermore, a U-Net model was applied foroptic disc segmentation with 128 × 128 input data. Results: The proposed method was appropriately applied to the datasetsused, as shown by the values of the F1-score, dice score, and intersection over union of 0.9880, 0.9852, and 0.9763 for the privatedataset, respectively, and 0.9854, 0.9838 and 0.9712 for the REFUGE dataset. Conclusions: The optic disc area producedby the proposed method was similar to that identified by an ophthalmologist. Therefore, this method can be considered forimplementing automatic segmentation of the optic disc area.

Effect of Ground Corn Cob Replacement for Cassava Chip on Feed Intake, Rumen Fermentation and Urinary Derivatives in Swamp Buffaloes

        Wanapat, M.,Pilajun, R.,Kang, S.,Setyaningsih, K.,Setyawan, A.R. Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2012 Animal Bioscience Vol.25 No.8

Four Thai - rumen fistulated male swamp buffaloes (Bubalus bubalis), about four years old with $400{\pm}20kg$ liveweight, were randomly assigned according to a $4{\times}4$ Latin square design to receive dietary treatments. The treatments were: ground corn cob (GCC) replacement for cassava chip (CC) in concentrate at 0% (T1); GCC replacement at 33% (T2); GCC replacement at 67% (T3); and GCC replacement at 100% (T4), respectively. During the experiment, concentrate was offered at 0.5% BW while 5% urea-treated rice straw was given at ad libitum. The result revealed that there was no effect of GCC replacement on DMI among treatments. In addition, digestibilities of DM, OM and CP were not different while aNDF linearly increased with an increasing level of GCC replacement. However, GCC replacement did not affect rumen fermentation such as ruminal pH, $NH_3$-N and VFA concentration; except C3 proportion which was the highest at 33% replacement while the lowest was at 100% replacement. All replacements of GCC resulted in similar protozoal and bacterial populations and microbial protein synthesis (MPS). Purine derivatives (PD) concentration in urine and PD to creatinine (PDC) index were varied with time of urination and among treatments at 0 to 8 and 8 to 16 h post feeding and higher values were shown among the GCC replacement groups. However at 16 to 24 h-post feeding, it was untraceable. In addition, creatinine concentration was similar among all treatments at every sampling time. Based on the above results, GCC can be used as an energy source for swamp buffalo fed with rice straw. Spot sampling of urine can be used for purine derivatives determination.

Catalytic efficiency of sulfuric and hydrochloric acids for the hydrolysis of Gelidium latifolium (Gelidiales, Rhodophyta) in bioethanol production

Maria Dyah Nur Meinita,Bintang Marhaeni,Tjahjo Winanto,Dwi Setyaningsih,홍용기 한국공업화학회 2015 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.27 No.-

Gelidium latifolium was selected as a potential resource for bioethanol production among 25 tropical redseaweed species candidates due to its high carbohydrate content. This report shows a catalytic efficiencycomparison between sulfuric (H2SO4) and hydrochloric acid (HCl) as feasible catalysts, which are usedfor the hydrolysis of G. latifolium. H2SO4 showed better hydrolysis compared to HCl based on sugarproduction, catalytic efficiency, and ethanol production. These results are important for futureapplications of bioethanol production on an industrial scale.
