Dimethyl sulfide (DMS) is an important compound in monitoring climate change and is monitored by the World Meteorological Organization Global Atmospheric Watch Volatile Organic Compounds (WMO-GAW VOC) program at several monitoring sites. It is essential that measurement results are accurate and consistent among the assigned values for primary gas mixtures to meet the WMO requirement. The purpose of this comparison is to compare the measurement capability of DMS at approximately 10 μmol/mol and expectation to contribute the establishment of traceability to single measurement scale for DMS between NMIs.

Main text

To reach the main text of this paper, click on Final Report. The sensitivity of polymer-based capacitive relative humidity (RH) sensors after irradiation with neutrons, electrons and protons was measured. Degradation consists of the decreasing of the upper RH limit that can be measured. At the same time, low RH-level sensitivity is almost stable. After 30 krad of absorption dose, RH cut off is equal to 85% of max value, after 60 krade40%. Degradation reduces after annealing which indicates high radiation sensitivity of the internal circuit in comparison to RH-sensing polymer film

High Voltage High Current Pulsed Electric Fields (HVHC-PEF) is a promising technology for the non-thermal pasteurization of foods and a sound complement or replacement to traditional thermal pasteurization, which inactivates bacteria and other microorganisms harmful to humans, but also degrades color, flavor, texture and nutrients. Foods can be pasteurized with pulsed electric fields at ambient or refrigerated temperatures for a short treatment time of seconds or less and the fresh-like quality of food is preserved.
Although successful in laboratory tests, applying HVHC-PEF to food pasteurization on a large scale presents many unresolved engineering problems. In this paper the design considerations for 25kV 1kA class HVHC-PEF pasteurization equipment are analyzed and experimental results are discussed.

This paper reviews the R&D results achieved in Korea
Electrotechnology Research Institute (KERI) in a decade or so. KERI has developed pulsed power technology and its applications mostly based on power electronics. KERI’s R&D activity covers components, military systems, and industry applications.

High voltage switching means developed in KERI are a rotary arc gap switch (11kV, 400kAp), a vacuum rotary arc gap (20kV, 150kAp), an inverse pinch switch (20kV, 150kAp), and 10kV semiconductor switch stacks made of thyristors and IGBTs. The IGBT and thyristor stacks consists of from ten to twelve 1.2kV discrete devices and
are operated by only one active circuit located in the ground side. Some ferromagnetic opening switch schemes are also researched on trial bases.

KERI has developed several pulsed power supplies responding to industry needs, of which applications are electrostatic precipitators, high voltage capacitor chargers, polluted gas treatment systems. The investigated pulsed power applications are rock fragmentation system, plasma ion implantation (PSII), food process, and fine metal powder fabrication system using wire-exploding process.
KTM TOKAMAK OPERATION SCENARIOS SOFTWARE INFRASTRUCTURE
Pavlov, V.,Baystrukov, K.,Golobokov, Yu.,Ovchinnikov, A.,Mezentsev, A.,Merkulov, S.,Lee, A.,Tazhibayeva, I.,Shapovalov, G. Korean Nuclear Society 2014 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.46 No.5
One of the largest problems for tokamak devices such as Kazakhstan Tokamak for Material Testing (KTM) is the operation scenarios' development and execution. Operation scenarios may be varied often, so a convenient hardware and software solution is required for scenario management and execution. Dozens of diagnostic and control subsystems with numerous configuration settings may be used in an experiment, so it is required to automate the subsystem configuration process to coordinate changes of the related settings and to prevent errors. Most of the diagnostic and control subsystems software at KTM was unified using an extra software layer, describing the hardware abstraction interface. The experiment sequence was described using a command language. The whole infrastructure was brought together by a universal communication protocol supporting various media, including Ethernet and serial links. The operation sequence execution infrastructure was used at KTM to carry out plasma experiments.

This paper represents the results of the optimisation of cold cathode ion source model with 5 cm extraction aperture diameter. Inthis model, the glow discharge is utilised for generation of electrons in the cathode of the ion source. The various models withdierent lengths of cathode and anode are tested. The shortest model with 4.5 cm in length of cathode and anode each showssatisfactory operation and can be used in cases when the high values of extracted ion current are not required. The best model fromthe point of view of ion beam current value and eciency of the discharge is the model with cathode length of 7 cm and anode lengthof 7 cm. In this case, the obtained maximum ion beam current is 110 mA when the discharge current is 1000 mA. In case whenmoderate values of extracted ion beam current are necessary, it is possible to operate the ion source even without the anode magneticsystem.. 2003 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
