<P>Novel 2,5-dioxoimidazolidine-based conformationally constrained analogues of KN62 (<B>1</B>) were developed as P2X7 receptor (P2X7R) antagonists using a rigidification strategy of the tyrosine backbone of <B>1</B>. SAR analysis of the 2,5-dioxoimidazolidine scaffold indicated that piperidine substitution at the N3 position and no substitution at N1 position were preferable. Further optimization of the substituents at the piperidine nitrogen and the spacer around the skeleton resulted in several superior antagonists to <B>1</B>, including 1-adamantanecarbonyl analogue <B>21i</B> (IC50 = 23 nM in ethidium uptake assay; IC50 = 14 nM in IL-1β ELISA assay) and (3-CF3-4-Cl)benzoyl analogue <B>(−)-21w</B> (54 nM in ethidium uptake assay; 9 nM in IL-1β ELISA assay), which was more potent than the corresponding (+) isomer. Compound <B>21w</B> displayed potent inhibitory activity in an ex vivo model of LTP-induced pain signaling in the spinal cord and significant anti-inflammatory activity in in vivo models of carrageenan-induced paw edema and type II collagen-induced joint arthritis.</P><P><B>Graphic Abstract</B> <IMG SRC='http://pubs.acs.org/appl/literatum/publisher/achs/journals/content/jmcmar/2015/jmcmar.2015.58.issue-5/jm500324g/production/images/medium/jm-2014-00324g_0017.gif'></P><P><A href='http://pubs.acs.org/doi/suppl/10.1021/jm500324g'>ACS Electronic Supporting Info</A></P>

Ganglion cysts are common lesions that are most often found around the hands and feet. Ganglia around the proximal tibiofibular joint usually occur within the synovial membrane, tendon sheath or peroneal nerve, but they rarely occur within muscle. We report here on a case of a 60-year-old man who complained of an asymptomatic deep seated mass in the proximal part of the right calf that he`d had for more than two years. On magnetic resonance imaging, the lesion appeared as a cystic lesion within the gastrocnemius muscle without communication with the knee joint. To the best of our knowledge, intramuscular ganglion cyst has never been reported in the Korean dermatologic literature. (Korean J Dermatol 2010;48(1):56∼59)
Paget disease of the breast: mammographic, US, and MR imaging findings with pathologic correlation.
Lim, Hyo Soon,Jeong, Su Jin,Lee, Ji Shin,Park, Min Ho,Kim, Jin Woong,Shin, Sang Soo,Park, Jin Gyoon,Kang, Heoung Keun The Society 2011 Radiographics Vol.31 No.7
<P>Paget disease is a rare malignancy of the breast characterized by infiltration of the nipple epidermis by adenocarcinoma cells. The clinical features of Paget disease are characteristic and should increase the likelihood of the diagnosis being made. An important point is that more than 90% of cases of Paget disease are associated with an additional underlying breast malignancy. Paget disease is frequently associated with ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) in the underlying lactiferous ducts of the nipple-areolar complex; it may even be associated with DCIS or invasive breast cancer elsewhere in the breast, at least 2 cm from the nipple-areolar complex. Nevertheless, mammographic findings may be negative in up to 50% of cases. Magnetic resonance (MR) imaging can be useful in patients with Paget disease for evaluation of the nipple-areolar complex and identification of an additional underlying malignancy in the breast. The appropriate surgical treatment must be carefully selected and individualized on the basis of radiologic findings, especially those obtained with breast MR imaging.</P>
5Cr 계 열간공구강의 충격인성과 절삭성에 미치는 희토류금속 첨가의 영향

A small amount of rare earth metals(REM) was added in melts of 5Cr hot working tool steel in order to investigate the changes in cleanliness, shape control of nonmetallic inclusions, and mechanical properties in comparison with those of typical hot working tool steel. The important results obtained are summarized as follows. 1) REM addition in 5Cr hot working tool steel resulted in significant decreases in final oxygen and sulfur, and total nonmetallic inclusions content. 2) RE-complex inclusions in the form of fine globular less than 3㎛ were composed of RE-oxysulfide surrounded by RE-sulfide. 3) Impact toughness, machinability, and chipability were improved by REM addition, owing to the refining of prior austenite grain size and insoluble carbide, and RE-complex inclusions.

<P>Dry cleaning technology is an essential technique that can be applied to remove native oxide and various contaminants during the semiconductor manufacturing for nanoscale electronic devices. In this study, the <I>in situ</I> dry cleaning of silicon dioxide (SiO2) with low global warming potential (GWP) gas mixtures has been investigated by sequential process steps composed of the reaction of SiO2 surface by oxygen difluoride (OF2) (GWP: <1)/ammonia (NH3) remote plasma and the removal of the reacted compound layer by lamp heating. By using the optimized OF2/NH3 (2:1) mixture for the surface reaction followed by the lamp heating at 200 °C to remove the reacted compound layer, a high-SiO2 cleaning rate and etch selectivity over silicon nitride (>30:1) could be obtained due to the formation of the highest HF concentration on the SiO2 surface at the OF2/NH3 (2:1) gas ratio. The compound layer formed during the reaction was (NH4)2SiF6 observed for a previously investigated NF3 (GWP: 17 200)/NH3 plasma, but the dry SiO2 cleaning rate and the etch selectivity over Si3N4 obtained by the OF2/NH3 plasma were higher than those by the optimized NF3/NH3 plasma. The effects of OF2/NH3 mixture dry cleaning on the electrical characteristics of metal-oxide-semiconductor (MOS) devices fabricated on the nano-scale trench patterned Si substrate with high aspect ratio were studied and compared with conventional wet and NF3/NH3 mixture dry cleaning-based devices. Compared with other cleaning methods, OF2/NH3 dry-cleaning shows the improved and reliable electrical characteristics such as sharper capacitance-voltage behavior, lower hysteresis, less interface trap charge and smaller contact resistivity. Therefore, it is believed that the <I>in situ</I> sequential dry SiO2 cleaning with the OF2/NH3 remote plasma can be applied as an essential cleaning method with extremely low GWP for fabricating next generation nano-scale devices.</P>

<P>Abstract Study Objective. To evaluate the influence of distress on overall survival of patients with hematologic malignancies who underwent allogeneic stem cell transplantation (allo-SCT) and to analyze the possible risk factors for death. Design. Retrospective cohort study. Setting. Large tertiary care teaching hospital. Patients. Seventy-seven patients (aged ??15 yrs) with hematologic malignancies who underwent allo-SCT between January 2000 and August 2007; 20 patients with distress history were matched in a 1:3 ratio with 57 patients without distress history. Measurements and Main Results. The primary outcome was overall survival, defined as the time from allo-SCT to disease-related death or last date of follow-up. Secondary outcomes were time to hematologic recovery (absolute neutrophil count ??500 cells/mm(3)) from day of allo-SCT, length of hospital stay, and opioid usage. Sociodemographic information and clinical characteristics were analyzed for possible risk factors. Patient history of psychological distress resulted in a significantly higher mortality rate in the first year after allo-SCT (hazard ratio [HR] 3.05, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.48-6.28, p=0.001) and led to a shorter overall survival rate (HR 1.63, 95% CI 0.86-3.10, p=0.133). However, psychological distress had no effect on hospital length of stay, hematologic recovery time, opioid usage status, or dose of opioid analgesics used. Factors associated with death after allo-SCT in the univariate analysis (p<0.05) were high-relapse risk disease, umbilical cord blood SCT, total-body irradiation-containing conditioning regimen, and higher educational background. In the multivariate analysis, high relapse risk (HR 3.85, 95% CI 1.81-8.20, p<0.001) and total-body irradiation-containing conditioning regimen (HR 3.50, 95% CI 1.29-9.51, p=0.01) were identified as risk factors for death. Conclusion. A history of psychological distress before allo-SCT, after adjusting for other patient- and disease-related prognostic factors, had a significant influence on early death in the first year after transplantation.</P>
