Behavioral Intention to Use Wellness Wearables: A Conceptual Model Development

Niknejad, Naghmeh,Hussin, Ab Razak Che,Ghani, Imran The Institute of Internet 2018 International Journal of Internet, Broadcasting an Vol.10 No.3

Wearable Technology is going to be the biggest buzzword and the next generation of digital revolution in the near future. Wearables have changed the focus of the healthcare industry to prevention programs in order to encourage individuals to be more active and to take the responsibility of their own health. Although, the intention of consumers to use wellness wearables has been growing rapidly, the number of individuals who refuses continued use of such devices increases day-by-day. Diffusion and innovation of new technology could be more efficiently gained by consumer's adoption. So, it is extremely important for providers and designers to understand the impact of positive and negative factors on consumers' intention to use wellness wearables. Moreover, a unified framework is required for better understanding of individuals' behavioral intention for using wellness wearables. Thus, the goal of this study is to identify the potential factors that influence consumers' willingness to use wellness wearables as well as proposing a unified framework based on Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology 2 (UTAUT2) and Value-based Adoption Model (VAM) with two extra factors, perceived trust and perceived health increase. The findings of this article improves the theoretical understanding of the engaged factors in the proposed research model of the study.

A Systematic Literature Review Towards Service Oriented Architecture Adoption from 2009 to 2015

Niknejad, Naghmeh,Ghani, Imran,Hussin, Ab Razak Che,Jeong, Seung Ryul The Institute of Internet 2018 International journal of advanced smart convergenc Vol.7 No.3

Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) has appeared as an absorbing architectural approach that empowers the available systems to reveal their performance in the act of services, without creating important changes to the systems. This approach, due to its flexibility of adoption, has been widely recognized as an appropriate approach for implementing in organizations by many scholars and practitioners. Though, there are many studies that depict success factors of SOA; at the same time a few minor cases of failure has also been reported in the literature. In spite of the availability of rich material on SOA (in general), there is no systematic literature review on the potential aspect of SOA adoption factors. Hence, this article presents a systematic review of existing studies related to the SOA adoption and its success and failure factors from 2009 to 2015. The principle purpose of the study is to bring forward the existing issues and share our findings with researchers. Moreover, the findings of this paper would help IT experts in organizations to concentrate on the key factors highlighted in this study, so that they could decide whether it is advisable to adopt SOA or not in their context.

( Naghmeh Niknejad ),( Imran Ghani ),( Ab Razak Che Hussin ),( Seung Ryul Jeong ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2016 인터넷정보학회논문지 Vol.17 No.4

SOA has been adopted by enormous number of organizations world-wide. This study has investigated significant factors which affect SOA adoption in positive and negative manner. Unlike the previous similar studies, where they focused on qualitative analysis for SOA adoption, this study conducted a quantitative analysis to investigate the relationship between the adoption of SOA and the performance of IT organizations. In order to conduct the research, an online questionnaire was created and distributed among SOA experts through the social networking platform of professionals, LinkedIn. Total one hundred and four (104) respondents from thirty (30) different countries participated in this study. The results of this study indicate that there are both positive and negative influences upon SOA adoption. The positive influences includes: governance, strategy, culture and communication, business and IT alignment and ROI; whereas complexity, security concerns, and costs have negatively affected SOA adoption.

Kinetic and Thermodynamic Studies of AISI 4130 Steel Alloy Corrosion in Ethylene Glycol-Water Mixture in Presence of Inhibitors

        M. Niknejad Khomami,I. Danaee,A. A. Attar,M. Peykari 대한금속·재료학회 2013 METALS AND MATERIALS International Vol.19 No.3

The electrochemical behavior of steel alloy in ethylene glycol-water mixture was investigated by electrochemical methods. The results obtained showed that corrosion rate was decreased with increasing ethylene glycol concentration. The effect of inorganic inhibitors including NO3−, NO2− , Cr2O72− and CrO42− were studied using electrochemical techniques where the highest inhibition efficiency was obtained for CrO42−. In the presence of chromate the inhibitor efficiency increased with its concentration. The inhibiting effect of the chromate was explained on the basis of the competitive adsorption between the inorganic anions and the aggressive Cl− ions, and the adsorption isotherm basically obeys the Langmuir adsorption isotherm. Thermodynamic parameters for steel corrosion and inhibitor adsorption were determined and reveal that the adsorption process is spontaneous. Also, a phenomenon of both physical and chemical adsorption is proposed.

      • Free vibrations analysis of arbitrary three-dimensionally FGM nanoplates

        Dehshahri, Kasra,Nejad, Mohammad Zamani,Ziaee, Sima,Niknejad, Abbas,Hadi, Amin Techno-Press 2020 Advances in nano research Vol.8 No.2

In this paper, the free vibrations analysis of the nanoplates made of three-directional functionally graded material (TDFGM) with small scale effects is presented. To study the small-scale effects on natural frequency, modified strain gradient theory (MSGT) has been used. Material properties of the nanoplate follow an arbitrary function that changes in three directions along the length, width and thickness of the plate. The equilibrium equations and boundary conditions of nanoplate are obtained using the Hamilton's principle. The generalized differential quadrature method (GDQM) is used to solve the governing equations and different boundary conditions for obtaining the natural frequency of nanoplate made of three-directional functionally graded material. The present model can be transformed into a couple stress plate model or a classic plate model if two or all parameters of the length scales set to zero. Finally, numerical results are presented to study the small-scale effect and heterogeneity constants and the aspect ratio with different boundary conditions on the free vibrations of nanoplates. To the best of the researchers' knowledge, in the literature, there is no study carried out into MSGT for free vibration analysis of FGM nanoplate with arbitrary functions.

Electronic learning (e-learning) empowers the higher education in providing sustainable instruction during the infrequent circumstance when the wide-spreading disastrous challenge of the COVID-19 results in the closure of various sectors in the society. During this time, e-learning serves the levels of the education sector such as higher education well by delivering and receiving materials from distance with respect to movement restrictions imposed by the government, for example the Movement Control Order (MCO) in Malaysia. In this qualitative survey, the existing e-learning challenges and the recommended solutions to the problems from the senior lecturers' perspectives were collected through an online open-ended questionnaire. A number of five senior lecturers out of eight at the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) answered the questionnaire. The UTM has been capable of providing e-learning courses for all of its lecturers and students during the closure of higher education institutions owing to the pernicious health conditions stemmed from the crisis of the COVID-19. The major existing challenges found in the e-learning program at the UTM and the suggested solutions to address them are listed and the main themes are illustrated in the word cloud format using the NVivo software. In the end, the conclusion is paragraphed and the future work is proposed. Overall, the purpose of this study is to address the e-learning challenges and to prepare a list of recommendations that can serve as solutions from the standpoint of the UTM senior lecturers during the MCO in Malaysia.

      • Extremely Bendable, High-PerformanceIntegrated CircuitsUsing Semiconducting Carbon Nanotube Networks for Digital, Analog, and Radio-Frequency Applications

        Wang, Chuan,Chien, Jun-Chau,Takei, Kuniharu,Takahashi, Toshitake,Nah, Junghyo,Niknejad, Ali M.,Javey, Ali American ChemicalSociety 2012 Nano letters Vol.12 No.3

<P>Solution-processed thin-films of semiconducting carbonnanotubesas the channel material for flexible electronics simultaneously offershigh performance, low cost, and ambient stability, which significantlyoutruns the organic semiconductor materials. In this work, we reportthe use of semiconductor-enriched carbon nanotubes for high-performanceintegrated circuits on mechanically flexible substrates for digital, analog and radio frequency applications. The as-obtained thin-filmtransistors (TFTs) exhibit highly uniform device performance withon-current and transconductance up to 15 μA/μm and 4 μS/μm.By performing capacitance–voltage measurements, the gate capacitanceof the nanotube TFT is precisely extracted and the corresponding peakeffective device mobility is evaluated to be around 50 cm2V–1s–1. Using such devices, digitallogic gates including inverters, NAND, and NOR gates with superiorbending stability have been demonstrated. Moreover, radio frequencymeasurements show that cutoff frequency of 170 MHz can be achievedin devices with a relatively long channel length of 4 μm, whichis sufficient for certain wireless communication applications. Thisproof-of-concept demonstration indicates that our platform can serveas a foundation for scalable, low-cost, high-performance flexibleelectronics.</P><P><B>Graphic Abstract</B> <IMG SRC='http://pubs.acs.org/appl/literatum/publisher/achs/journals/content/nalefd/2012/nalefd.2012.12.issue-3/nl2043375/production/images/medium/nl-2011-043375_0006.gif'></P><P><A href='http://pubs.acs.org/doi/suppl/10.1021/nl2043375'>ACS Electronic Supporting Info</A></P>

      • Parallel Array InAs Nanowire Transistors for Mechanically Bendable, Ultrahigh Frequency Electronics

        Takahashi, Toshitake,Takei, Kuniharu,Adabi, Ehsan,Fan, Zhiyong,Niknejad, Ali M.,Javey, Ali American Chemical Society 2010 ACS NANO Vol.4 No.10

<P>The radio frequency response of InAs nanowire array transistors on mechanically flexible substrates is characterized. For the first time, GHz device operation of nanowire arrays is demonstrated, despite the relatively long channel lengths of ∼1.5 μm used in this work. Specifically, the transistors exhibit an impressive maximum frequency of oscillation, <I>f</I>max ∼ 1.8 GHz, and a cutoff frequency, <I>f</I>t ∼ 1 GHz. The high-frequency response of the devices is due to the high saturation velocity of electrons in high-mobility InAs nanowires. The work presents a new platform for flexible, ultrahigh frequency devices with potential applications in high-performance digital and analog circuitry.</P><P><B>Graphic Abstract</B> <IMG SRC='http://pubs.acs.org/appl/literatum/publisher/achs/journals/content/ancac3/2010/ancac3.2010.4.issue-10/nn1018329/production/images/medium/nn-2010-018329_0004.gif'></P><P><A href='http://pubs.acs.org/doi/suppl/10.1021/nn1018329'>ACS Electronic Supporting Info</A></P>
