Elasticity Analysis of Hierarchical Road Network Performance Based on Modified Logit Models

This paper investigates the impact of Variable Message Sign (VMS), stochasticity and hierarchy on the performance of a road network in the context of four typical Logit model types. These models are multinomial Logit (MNL), C-Logit (CL), Path Size Logit (PSL) and Cross-nested Logit (CNL). We quantify the road hierarchy and use the quantified hierarchy to calculate generalized path costs. Then, VMS information is quantified and integrated with the hierarchical property to calculate road “length. Furthermore, these calculation methods are applied to propose modified versions of the MNL, CL, PSL and CNL. Numerical calculations produce negative values of the dispersion elasticity and hierarchical elasticity of total travel time costs obtained from each Logit model. The results also show that the dispersion parameter, hierarchical structure and VMS information have significant and different impacts on the elasticity. The quantitative interactions among these factors, models and performance are practically useful for network design and management.

This paper studies the radio frequency to direct current (RF-DC) conversion efficiency of rectennas applicable to wireless power transfer systems, where multiple receive antennas are arranged in serial, parallel or cascaded form. To begin with, a 2.45 GHz dual-diode rectifier is designed and its equivalent linear model is applied to analyze its output voltage and current. Then, using Advanced Design System (ADS), it is shown that the rectifying efficiency is as large as 66.2% in case the input power is 15.4 dBm. On the other hand, to boost the DC output, three composite rectennas are designed by inter-connecting two dual-diode rectifiers in serial, parallel and cascade forms; and their output voltage and current are investigated using their respective equivalent linear models. Simulation and experimental results demonstrate that all composite rectennas have almost the same RF-DC conversion efficiency as the dual-diode rectifier, yet the output of voltage or current can be significantly increased; in particular, the cascade rectenna obtains the highest rectifying efficiency.
Isoxazoline, Isoxazole, and Oxadiazole Derivatives as M1 Muscarinic Acetylcholine Receptor Agonists

Insertion of a methylene linker between the 2-pyrrolidinone substituent and the isoxazoline core of the lead compound 1 previously reported resulted in the loss of its agonistic activity. One exception was the compound 6f having oxadiazole core and 2-azabicyclo[2.2.1]heptane substituent. Of the two isomers of 6f, exo-isomer (EC50 0.013 μM) was five- to six-fold more effective than endo-isomer (EC50 0.30 μM), and ca. two-fold active than the mother compound 1 (EC50 0.031 μM) in stimulating the M1 mAChR. Both isomers were moderately selective agonists for M1 mAChR over the rest four subtypes, and it could be explained by docking study on active conformation allosteric binding sites of M1–M5 mAChRs and calculating their binding energies.
