Purpose Various inflammation-based prognostic biomarkers such as the platelet to lymphocyte ratio and neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio, are related to poor survival in patients with intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC). This study aims to investigate the prognostic value of the aspartate aminotransferase to neutrophil ratio index (ANRI) in ICC after hepatic resection. Materials and Methods Data of 184 patients with ICC after hepatectomy were retrospectively reviewed. The cut-off value of ANRI was determined by a receiver operating characteristic curve. Preoperative ANRI and clinicopathological variables were analyzed. The predictive value of preoperative ANRI for prognosis of ICC was identified by univariate and multivariate analyses. Results The optimal cut-off value of ANRI was 6.7. ANRI was associated with tumor size, tumor recurrence, white blood cell, neutrophil count, aspartate aminotransferase, and alanine transaminase. Univariate analysis showed that ANRI, sex, tumor number, tumor size, tumor differentiation, lymph node metastasis, resection margin, clinical TNM stage, neutrophil count, and carcinoembryonic antigen were markedly correlated with overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS) in patients with ICC. Multivariable analyses revealed that ANRI, a tumor size > 6 cm, poor tumor differentiation, and an R1 resection margin were independent prognostic factors for both OS and DFS. Additionally, preoperative ANRI also had a significant value to predict prognosis in various subgroups of ICC, including serum hepatitis B surface antigennegative and preoperative elevated carbohydrate antigen 19-9 patients. Conclusion Preoperative declined ANRI is a noninvasive, simple, and effective predictor of poor prognosis in patients with ICC after hepatectomy.

Lingyun Gao,Zhenguang Gao,Manli Liu Korean Mathematical Society 2023 대한수학회보 Vol.60 No.3
In view of Nevanlinna theory, we investigate the meromorphic solutions of q-difference differential equations and our results give the estimates about counting function and proximity function of meromorphic solutions to these equations. In addition, some interesting results are obtained for two general equations and a class of system of q-difference differential equations.

Background Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a highly prevalent and troublesome disease. Several differentially expressed microRNAs (miRNAs) have been found in GERD. Objective This study was to analyze the correlation of miR-29a-3p expression and CYP2C19 genotypes in exfoliated cells from tongue coating of GERD patients and its prognostic value. Methods Tongue coating specimens were collected from 130 GERD patients and 70 healthy volunteers and their clinical baseline information was recorded. miR-29a-3p expression in exfoliated cells from tongue coating was determined via RT-qPCR, and its diagnostic efficiency on GERD was evaluated via receiver operating characteristic curve. CYP2C19 genotypes and their correlation with miR-29a-3p were analyzed via polymerase chain reaction restriction fragment length polymorphism technique. The adverse events of patients were documented via 12-month follow-up. The impact of miR-29a-3p expression on the healing rate of patients was analyzed via Kaplan-Meier method. Qualification of miR-29a-3p as an independent prognostic factor of GERD patients was analyzed via multivariate Cox regression analysis. Results miR-29a-3p was highly-expressed in exfoliated cells from tongue coating of GERD patients. miR-29a-3p expression had high specificity and sensitivity in diagnosing GERD. CYP2C19 genotypes in GERD patients comprised rapid metabolizers, intermedia metabolizers, and poor metabolizers. miR-29a-3p expression showed a correlation with CYP2C19 genotypes. Higher miR-29a-3p expression predicted higher cumulative incidences of adverse outcomes. Highly-expressed miR-29a-3p was an independent prognostic factor for adverse outcomes of GERD patients. Conclusion High expression of miR-29a-3p aided the diagnosis and predicted poor prognosis of GERD patients.

Gardenia jasminoides Ellis, a representative for “homology of medicine and food”, can be used to produce pigment and edible oil. Here, aqueous enzymatic extraction (AEE) combined with puffing pre-treatment was explored to prepare oil from gardenia seeds. Both wet-heating puffing (WP) at 90 °C and dry-heating puffing (DP) at 1.0 MPa facilitated the release of free oil by AEE, resulting in the highest free oil yields (FOY) of 21.8% and 23.2% within 3 h, much higher than that of un-puffed group. Additionally, active crocin and geniposide were also completely released. The FOY obtained was much higher than mechanical pressing method (10.44%), and close to solvent extraction (25.45%). Microstructure analysis indicated that gardenia seeds expanded by dry-heating puffing (1.0 MPa) had a larger, rougher surface and porous structure than other groups. Overall, AEE coupled with puffing pre-treatment developed is an eco-friendly extraction technology with high efficiency that can be employed to oil preparation.

Efficient continuous epoxidation of biodiesel with peracetic acid generated in situ from hydrogen peroxide and acetic acid was studied in detail in a microstructured reactor. The effects of micromixer type, reaction temperature, catalyst usage, flow rate and residence time were considered. Results show the T-type glass micro-structured reactor (TTGMR) outperforms the interdigital multilamination micromixer. Under the optimized conditions, the final product from TTGMR has an epoxy value of 6.5 and an iodine value of 2.2.

To improve the measurement accuracy of a solar-radiation observer instrument, aiming at the problem of multiorder-stray-light interference caused by the diffraction of the flat-field concave grating in the spectroscopic system, straylight suppression methods for different forms of optical traps are studied. According to the grating surface-scattering distribution-function model, the bidirectional scattering distribution function (BSDF) of a dust-polluted surface and the flat-field concave grating’s transition area of the spectroscopic system is calculated, and a Lyot stop with blade baffle is designed to suppress this kind of stray light. For diffraction multiorder stray light, based on the theory of light-energy transmission, a design for precise positioning of the trench optical trap is proposed. The superiority of the method is verified through simulation and actual measurement. The simulation results show that in a spectroscopic system approximately 160 mm × 140 mm × 80 mm in size, the energy of the stray light is reduced by one order of magnitude by means of the trench optical trap and Lyot stop, and the number of beams is reduced from 5664 to 1040. The actual measurements show that the stray-light-suppression efficiency is about 69.4%, which is effective reduction of the amount of stray light.

For measles viruses, fusion on the cell membrane is an important initial step in the entry into the infected cells. The recent research indicated that hemagglutinin firstly leads the conformational changes in the fusion protein then co-mediates the membrane fusion. In the work, we use the co-immunoprecipitation and pull-down techniques to identify the interactions among fusion protein, hemagglutinin and signaling lymphocyte activation molecule (SLAM), which reveal that the three proteins can form a functional complex to mediate the SLAM-dependent fusion. Moreover, under the confocal microscope, fusion protein and hemagglutinin protein can show the cocapping mediated by the SLAM. So fusion protein not only is involved in the fusion but also might directly interact with the SLAM to be a new fusion-trimer model, which might account for the infection mechanism of measles virus.
