The purpose of this study is to analyse diverse functions and uses of Spanish article lo. Spanish is the only Romance language which has preserved an neutral and unchangeable article, which is called 'article lo'. Lo can nominalize the adjectives, which, in this way, acquire a meaning equal or similar to that of the neuters of Latin. The nominalization with lo gives abstract character to the adjectives in competition with abstract nouns, etymologically and semantically correlatives. This study is composed of four chapters, an introduction and a conclusion. The first chapter focuses on the difference between 'article lo'(lo esperado) and 'pronoun lo'(lo esperaba). And we examine a variety of uses of Spanish articles by dividing the second chapter into two sections: the comparison of the definite article with the indefinite one (el libro/un libro), and diverse characteristics of the article lo. The third part, the analysis of different functions and uses of the article lo, is divided, in its turn, into three sections: 'lo + adjective'(lo noble=la nobleza; lo bueno=las cosas buenas; en lo alto=en la parte alta), 'lo + relative clause'(toma lo que quieras), and 'lo + adjective/adverb + que'(todos saben lo simpatica que es tu hermana). The fourth chapter addresses impersonal expressions with a sense of topicalization(lo imporante es (que)=es importante (que) ), and idiomatic phrases, which are structured with lo(a lo lejos); and shows how the article lo is interpreted into other languages like English, French and Italian. This investigation on lo is believed to contribute to our understanding of its diverse functions and also to the solution of various communication problems.

Background: Information on the effectiveness of nirmatrelvir/ritonavir against the omicron is limited. The clinical response and viral kinetics to therapy in the real world need to be evaluated. Methods: Mild to moderate coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients with risk factors for severe illness were prospectively enrolled as a treatment group with nirmatrelvir/ritonavir therapy versus a control group with supportive care. Serial viral load and culture from the upper respiratory tract were evaluated for seven days, and clinical responses and adverse reactions were evaluated for 28 days. Results: A total of 51 patients were analyzed including 40 in the treatment group and 11 in the control group. Faster symptom resolution during hospitalization (P = 0.048) was observed in the treatment group. Only minor adverse reactions were reported in 27.5% of patients. The viral load on Day 7 was lower in the treatment group (P = 0.002). The viral culture showed a positivity of 67.6% (25/37) vs. 100% (6/6) on Day 1, 0% (0/37) vs. 16.7 (1/6) on Day 5, and 0% (0/16) vs. 50.0% (2/4) on Day 7 in the treatment and control groups, respectively. Conclusions: Nirmatrelvir/ritonavir against the omicron was safe and resulted in negative viral culture conversion after Day 5 of treatment with better symptomatic resolution.

Analysis and Implementation of Hologram Lenses for See-Through Head-Mounted Display
Lee, Seungjae,Lee, Byounghyo,Cho, Jaebum,Jang, Changwon,Kim, Jonghyun,Lee, Byoungho IEEE 2017 IEEE photonics technology letters Vol.29 No.1

We introduce an approach to implementation of see-through head-mounted displays using hologram lenses, which are categorized by holographic optical elements. The hologram lenses magnify displayed images and superimpose the magnified images on the real-world simultaneously, which allows system configuration to be compact. Here, we investigate imaging properties and optical issues of hologram lenses using the spectral analysis of light field. Also, the astigmatism of hologram lenses is analyzed and its compensation method is proposed and verified. We conclude by describing display results and a practical application of the proposed method.

Deficits in Facial Emotion Recognition in Schizophrenia: A Replication Study with Korean Subjects
SeungJae Lee,HaeKook Lee,YongSil Kweon,ChungTai Lee,KyoungUk Lee 대한신경정신의학회 2010 PSYCHIATRY INVESTIGATION Vol.7 No.4
Objective-We investigated the deficit in the recognition of facial emotions in a sample of medicated, stable Korean patients with schizophrenia using Korean facial emotion pictures and examined whether the possible impairments would corroborate previous findings. Methods-Fifty-five patients with schizophrenia and 62 healthy control subjects completed the Facial Affect Identification Test with a new set of 44 colored photographs of Korean faces including the six universal emotions as well as neutral faces. Results-Korean patients with schizophrenia showed impairments in the recognition of sad, fearful, and angry faces [F(1,114)=6.26, p=0.014; F(1,114)=6.18, p=0.014; F(1,114)=9.28, p=0.003, respectively], but their accuracy was no different from that of controls in the recognition of happy emotions. Higher total and three subscale scores of the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS) correlated with worse performance on both angry and neutral faces. Correct responses on happy stimuli were negatively correlated with negative symptom scores of the PANSS. Patients with schizophrenia also exhibited different patterns of misidentification relative to normal controls. Conclusion-These findings were consistent with previous studies carried out with different ethnic groups, suggesting cross-cultural similarities in facial recognition impairment in schizophrenia.

This study aimed to determine the presence of SARS-CoV-2 on surfaces frequently touched by COVID-19 patients, and assess the scope of contamination and transmissibility in facilities where the outbreaks occurred. In the course of this epidemiological investigation, a total of 80 environmental specimens were collected from 6 hospitals (68 specimens) and 2 “mass facilities” (6 specimens from a rehabilitation center and 6 specimens from an apartment building complex). Specific reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction targeting of RNA-dependent RNA polymerase, and envelope genes, were used to identify the presence of this novel coronavirus. The 68 specimens from 6 hospitals (A, B, C, D, E, and G), where prior disinfection/cleaning had been performed before environmental sampling, tested negative for SARS-CoV-2. However, 2 out of 12 specimens (16.7%) from 2 “mass facilities” (F and H), where prior disinfection/cleaning had not taken place, were positive for SARS-CoV-2 RNA polymerase, and envelope genes. These results suggest that prompt disinfection and cleaning of potentially contaminated surfaces is an effective infection control measure. By inactivating SARS-CoV-2 with disinfection/cleaning the infectivity and transmission of the virus is blocked. This investigation of environmental sampling may help in the understanding of risk assessment of the COVID-19 outbreak in “mass facilities” and provide guidance in using effective disinfectants on contaminated surfaces.
Transport Policy Directions Based on Travel Pattern Analysis in the Seoul Metropolitan Area
Seungjae Lee, Shinhae Lee 서울시립대학교 도시과학연구원 2005 International journal of urban sciences (IJUS) Vol. No.
In the objective of this study is to analyze the travel patterns based on social changes between 1996 and 2002, and then to propose main directions in transport policies in the Seoul Metropolitan Area(SMA). This study examines the general travel pattern changes in the SMA and compares the travel patterns of regions invested in road construction (road-invested areas) with those of regions invested in transit (transit-invested areas). Study results show that while road investment had little effect on reducing congestion, the number of cars decreased in transit-invested areas due to the modal shift to transit modes. This study suggests that transit-oriented policies should be utilized as a solution to overcome severe traffic congestion.
