      • Study on Evenness Control for Tensionof Rapier Loom by Neural Network

        This paper presents the use of neural network model (NNM) for air-jet loom's let-off process, which is used to model the uncertain parameters of this process. The adaptive model was used to estimate let-off tension recursively and is incorporated in predictive control strategies. Control tests showed excellent behavior following different set point and variations, such as diameter of weaver's beam, air stream, density of warp and weft, type of textile, etc. An optimum steady state scheme in keeping evenness of let-off tension of loom has been realized. After adopting the method, it improves production efficiency and product quality obviously, its flaw amount also falls 80%.

        Investigation of Eco-friendly Dyeing of Para-aramid Using Supercritical CO2

        In order to solve the problems of dyeing difficulty and serious pollution of traditional water-based dyeing of paraaramid,supercritical CO2 fluid was employed as a dyeing solvent to dye para-aramid yarn (temperatures 80-120 ℃, pressures16-24 MPa, dyeing time 15-90 min, and dye concentration 1 %-7 % o.m.f.). The K/S values reached 2.07 and 1.91 at 120 ℃,24 MPa, 60 min, 5 % o.m.f., and a CO2 flow of 20 g/min with C. I. Disperse Red 54 and C. I. Disperse Blue 79, respectively. The results proved that para-aramid yarn could be dyed in supercritical CO2 fluid. Moreover, the thermal and mechanicalproperties of dyed para-aramid yarns in supercritical CO2 showed a slightly increasing trend. The washing, rubbing, and thelight color fastness of the dyed samples were rated above 4-5, and the color fastness durability of the dyed para-aramid wasalso presented good.

        UV-grafting Coloration of Cotton and Wool Fabrics Using Bismethacrylated Quinizarin Dye

        A novel bifunctional quinizarin dye possessing two photoactive methacrylate groups was synthesized by the reaction of quinizarin with methacryloyl chloride. The synthesized dye, a low substantive dye under the conventional dyeing process, can be photografted onto cotton and wool fabrics at room temperature without neutral salts, which makes it a novel coloration process of excellent environmental friendliness. The concurrent polymerization and grafting of the synthesized dye onto cotton or wool can be assisted by a photoinitiator and acrylic acid in the case of cotton grafting. Moreover, color yields of the grafted fabrics improved significantly with the photografting of the bifunctional dye. The bifunctional dye can be photopolymerized with the increase in UV energy to <TEX>$25J/cm^2$</TEX> and the oligomeric dye has a degree of polymerization of 5 or more. Furthermore, the color fastness properties of the grafted fabrics were superior to those of the dyed fabrics via exhaustion.

        One-Step Dyeing and Antimicrobial Finishing of PET Fabric with Novel 4-Arylazopyrazolone Disperse Dyes

        Azopyrazole disperse dyes 8-12 could be synthesized either by condensing ethyl 3-hydroxy-2-aryldiazenylbutenoates 3-7 with S-methyl hydrazine carbodithioate 1 or by coupling the parent pyrazole 2 with diazotized aniline, psubstitutedanilines and/or 4-aminoantipyrine. These dyes were applied to polyester fabrics using a high-temperature dyeingmethod at 120 °C and displayed yellow to orange hues. Raman spectra of the dyed samples undoubtedly excluded ringdyeing and were found to agree with the proposed structures. The synthesized disperse dyes were found to possess very gooddyeing properties, as indicated by color strength measurements, and all of them except dye 12 had a color strength (K/S) valueranging from 19-23. The dyed fabrics exhibited excellent fastness to washing and dry and wet rubbing as well as lightfastness, which varied from moderate to very good. The antimicrobial activities of the synthesized pyrazoles 2 and 8-12 aswell as the dyed fabric samples against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus were measured, and the results showedvery good activity.

        A Novel Natural Dye Derivative for Natural Fabric Supercritical Carbon Dioxide Dyeing Technology

        The supercritical carbon dioxide (SC-CO2) dyeing technology is a green dyeing technology, and the usage ofnatural dye makes SC-CO2 dyeing technology safer and more environment-friendly. Nevertheless, after using natural dye inSC-CO2 dyeing, the color depth and fastness of dyed natural fabric are poor. In this study, alkyl and hydroxyalkyl groupswere grafted onto alizarin, which is a natural dye, to elevate the color depths and fastness of alizarin-derivative-dyed naturalfabric. The results demonstrate that the color depths of alkyl-alizarin-dyed and hydroxyalkyl-alizarin-dyed natural fabricswere increased. This has to do with the increase in the solubilities of alkyl alizarin and hydroxyalkyl alizarin in SC-CO2. Thehydroxybutyl-alizarin-dyed wool displayed the best color depth (K/S value: 6.44). And the hydroxyalkyl-alizarin-dyednatural fabric showed good washing fastness and rubbing fastness (about 4-5 level), because that hydroxyalkyl alizarin couldbe linked by a covalent bond to the natural fabric.
