This paper presents a method for adjusting a free space optics (FSO) system that links two single-mode optical fibers (SMFs) using collimators. It operates as if the two SMFs were seamlessly connected without the need for any photoelectric devices. Collimator focusing as well as axis alignment is critical for low loss transmission and is performed using an opto-mechatronic system in the proposed method.

Pollinators play an important role in the production of many agricultural products. Honeybees, Apis mellifera L., are leading pollinators, but the number of honeybees in the world is declining. Finding alternatives is beginning to be important. In the present study, we compared the longevity of Lucilia sericata (Meigen, 1826), which is used as a pollinator, in cages in the laboratory and in a vinyl greenhouse under controlled feeding conditions. First, we showed that the longevity of the flies was significantly extended (c.a. 40 days) in the laboratory when water and sugar were supplied compared to the cases without sugar and/or water. Second, we found that the average longevity was 20 days with water and sugar in cages kept in a vinyl greenhouse during the summer. Finally, we released marked flies into a vinyl greenhouse where strawberries were cultivated without feeding water or sugar in the spring. As a result, fewer than 10% of the flies survived 10 days after release. Based on the result, we discuss the use of this species as a pollinator in the context of its survival rate.
High-Resolution Optical Measurement of Fiber Optics Transmission Line Length

This paper studies a frame-loss-free shunt system for broadband optical fiber transmission lines. This system switches transmitting optical pulses between duplicated optical fibers to avoid any interruption to communication. A high-resolution measurement technique is necessary to evaluate the optical fiber length. We applied an interferometry technique to adjust 15 km duplicated optical lines at a resolution of 10 mm. An optical line switching system and procedure are designed for use in replacing in-service optical lines. A free space optics (FSO) system adjusts the length of an in-service optical line by up to 100 m. A gigabit ether-passive optical network (GE-PON) line is successfully replaced with an extended line while maintaining transmission.

In this research, a polishing pad for Si polishing has been analyzed in detail, to understand stabilization of polishing performance. The polishing pad plays a key role in polishing process and is one of the important layer in polishing process, because it is a reaction layer of polishing. Pad surface physical property is also ruled by conditioning tool which add mechanical force to pad, and make some roughness and profile. Formed pad surface will affect on polishing performance such as RR (Removal Rate) and uniformity in Si polishing. Pad surface condition is changed by conditioning tool and dummy run and is stable at final. Stabilized pad surface has stable roughness and increased wettability which can increase probability of abrasive adhesion on pad. And this research, we want to improve polishing performance by analysis of pad surface and artificial machining to make stable pad surface. In this research.
Peptides from Bombyx Fibroin Counter D-Galactose-induced Hair Aging in Mice

Using proteases, we produced a peptide mixture from fibroin of the silkworm $Bombyx$ $mori$. Mice received D-galactose by subcutaneous injection for 8 weeks to accelerate aging, and then received the peptide mixture orally for 7 weeks. In the mice aged with D-galactose, the coefficient of friction of hair increased significantly up to 1.6-fold, but in the mice subsequently given the peptide mixture, it was normal. Scanning electron microscopy showed improved hair cuticles in the latter mice too. These results indicate that oral administration with peptides from $Bombyx$ fibroin counters the aging of hair cuticles.

Aims and Background: To evaluate the efficacy of a combination of aprepitant and conventional antiemetic therapy in patients with advanced or recurrent lung cancer receiving moderately emetogenic chemotherapy (MEC). Methods: Patients with advanced or recurrent lung cancer who were treated with MEC regimens at the Department of Respiratory Medicine, Fukuoka University Hospital, were included and classified into the following groups: control group (treatment: 5-HT3 receptor antagonists + dexamethasone) and aprepitant group (treatment: 5-HT3 receptor antagonists + dexamethasone + aprepitant). The presence or absence of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV) was evaluated according to the Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events (CTCAE) v4.0; patients with grade 1 or above were considered positive for CINV. Food intake per day, completion of planned chemotherapy, and progression-free survival (PFS) achieved by chemotherapy were investigated. Results: The complete suppression rate of nausea in the aprepitant group was significantly higher than that in the control group (p = 0.0043). Throughout the study, the food intake in the aprepitant group was greater than that in the control group, with the rate being significantly higher, in particular, on day 5 (p = 0.003). The completion rate of planned chemotherapy was also higher in the aprepitant group (p = 0.042). PFS did not differ significantly, but tended to be improved in the aprepitant group. Conclusions: The aprepitant group showed significantly higher complete suppression of nausea, food intake on day 5, and completion of planned chemotherapy than the control group.

In the past decade, search robots in rescue operations have been focused on and developed for the purpose of finding survivors trapped in the rubble of collapsed buildings. Most of them adopt serpentine Mechanisms. However, they might gather to catch debris between tracks or become stuck due to the mechanisms. To get over the problems, a new mobile mechanism have been proposed: flexible mono-tread mobile track (FMT), and a prototype "Rescue mobile track No.2(RT-02) WORM" was developed. The machine is composed of a "flexible chain" and vertebral structure, the body flexes in 3D. As a result of the specific turning mechanism, steering performance of FMT is different from the usual differential-type tracked vehicle (DTV). The purpose of this paper si to show the maneuverability of FMT comparing with that of DTV through some experiments.

Pad surface physical property is also ruled by pad profile. The profile and roughness of pad is controlled by different types of conditioning tool. Conditioning tool add mechanical force to pad, and make some roughness and profile. Formed pad surface will affect on polishing performance such as RR (Removal Rate) and uniformity in CMP Pad surface condition is changed by conditioning tool and dummy run and is stable at final. And this research, we want to reduce break-in and dummy polishing process by analysis of pad surface and artificial machining to make stable pad surface. The surface treatment or machining enables to control the surface of polishing pad. Therefore, this research intends to verify the effect of the buffing process on pad surface through analysis of the removal rate, friction force and temperature. In this research, urethane polishing pad which is named IC pad(Nitta-Haas Inc.) and has micro pore structure, is studied because, this type of pad is most conventional type.
