      • THERMAL AND SMOKE MEASUREMENTS OF VEHICLE FIRES Establishing practical large-scale experiment for vehicle fires

        Experiments were conducted to evaluate the hazard risks of vehicle fires. Sensors were strategically placed in passenger cars to determine the temperature, propagation rate and direction of flame. The life safety hazard evaluations such as smoke and gas analysis were included. An important ignition position was performed in the engine compartment. The effects of different ignition positions and the opening of door glasses were also reviewed. The experimental results indicate that the maximum temperature when a vehicle burns varies commonly from 90<TEX>$0^{\circ}C$</TEX> -100<TEX>$0^{\circ}C$</TEX>. The flame reaches in the face of a driver about 6-7minutes and the windshield glass breaks about 10 minutes after the ignition in the engine compartment of vehicle. And the smoke and gas concentrations reached the limit of human inhalation after 13-14 minutes. Especially the concentrations of carbon monoxide exceeded the TWA(50 ppm) during short time after ignition in cases of all experiments.

        The Resyllabification Rule of English words by Kim-Renaud in 1974: ?? and that of Kim, K.S. in 1977: ?? raise problems of, (a) uncertainty of splitting an sonorant consonant before the other, (b) no explicit solution of syllable adjustment, (c) no answer of resyllabification at/[+tense] [+obs]-(#), and (d) deficiency of rule consistency. For the solution of the above problems the present study revises the above rules by clarifying the nature of resyllabifying English words, from the standpoint of the broad transcription in Korean of resyllabification of English words. The represented phenomena of resyllabification of English words (see Ⅱ B 11 in this paper) were hypothesizes to result from internalized resyllabification rule formed by Korean phonolgical rule (henceforth : p-rule) in collision with English P-rule. Based on this collision, resyllabification of English words is studied, classified, and analyzed with Internalized Resyllabification Rule of English Words formulated. Hence the minor rules. They are as follows :1) syllable initial/-ized consonant syllabification, 2) sonorant-preceding consonant syllabification, 3) tense vowel+consonant syllabification, and 4) syllable boundary adjustment rule (henceforth : BAR). This paper puts high emphasis on the role and establishment of BAR. Accordingly, BAR is classified into four minor rules : BARa by which syllable boundary # is assigned to vowel, BARb assigning # to (scanned by ICS or SCS), BARc to [+SEC] (seven syllable ending consonants), and BARd to the sonorant consonant when SCS is applied (if it is preceded by a vowel.) However, the relation between free variations and naturalness of resyllabification are not explicated in detail.

        This paper presents operating characteristics of the main power conversion considering dead time, an analysis of which includes switching device of voltage-fed type high frequency Inverter with self-turn-off device Also, several features are considered when we use PWM technique to obtain VVVF function of the Inverter. This paper suggests some fundamental data for designing the main power conversion circuit. All components in such conversion circuit are designed by variables, so such a design concept has flexibility. Design technique proposed in this paper can be applied to several areas such as induction heating, development of power supply in industrial process etc. Using such a technique, enhancement of prformance or energy saving is expected.

        산취급사업장근로자에서 산의 원천별 치아부식증의 분포 및 연관 요인에 관한 조사연구

        Objectives: No evidence has been found on various types of dental erosion, except for occupational dental erosion. This study aimed to evaluate the distribution of four types of dental erosion (occupational, dietary, systemic, and gastric) and its associated factors among workers in factories that use acids. Methods: Of 89,034 workers from 4,625 factories that use acids, 716 workers from 38 factories were selected for this cross-sectional epidemiological study by using three-stage stratified cluster sampling. Evaluation for dental erosion was performed by a trained dentist by using Kim`s criteria, and a saliva sample was collected directly from each participant. Data on acid sources and associated factors were collected by using questionnaires. By using a complex sample analysis, the T test and Rao-Scott chisquare test were applied to analyze the distribution of four acid factors and to evaluate the associated factors. Results: The prevalence of overall dental erosion was 37.7% for occupational dental erosion, 23.1% for dietary dental erosion, 3.1% for systemic dental erosion, and 3.2% for gastric dental erosion. The prevalence of severe dental erosion was 10.5% for occupational dental erosion, 7.1% for dietary dental erosion, 1.8% for systemic dental erosion, and 1.7% for gastric dental erosion. The factors associated with dental erosion were age, sex, acid exposure, dental cervical abrasion, and dental attrition. Conclusions: Our data showed that the prevalence of dental erosion was high, moderate, and low in occupational, dietary, and gastric and systemic dental erosions, respectively, among workers exposed to acids. The related factors differed according to the types of dental erosion. Our data suggested that different types of promotion programs for dental erosion should be considered according to acid source.

        한경직과 김재준, 그들의 삶과 사상

        Han Kyung-Chik and Kim Chai-Choon are our role models of Christian faith who thoroughly lived to fulfill their obligation given by God: serving Korea, Korean people, and Korean churches. Even though they were born in different places (Han was born in Pyeong-An province and Kim in Ham-Kyeong province), they both converted to Christianity and left Korea to study theology in America. Returning to Korea, they shared the same vision that is to realize the kingdom of God in this world though Han worked as a church pastor and Kim as a theologian. Whereas Han Kyung-Chik had a strong identity of a pastor and poured his energy into a church ministry Kim Jaejun mostly worked on campus as a theologian. Even though they shared a same vision that is to realize the kingdom of God on the earth through their ministry, they presented different methodologies. Han believed that a peaceful world would be a way to the kingdom of God but Kim be lieved that building a commonwealth of cosmic love would realize the kingdom. Therefore, Han emphasized a “faithful life” in response to the grace of God and focused on evangelical faith and Kim emphasized a “living by faith” which focused on communal realms of human society. Lastly, Han held politically anti-Japanese and pro-Ameircan position while Kim held anti-American and pro-Japanese position. Today, Christianity in Korea is losing her reputation and credibility. Rather, harsh criticisms and reproaches are drawn unto Korean churches. Facing these challenges, Han Kyung-Chik and Kim Chai-Choon could be good role models we can emulate. They had strong convictions and lived by them accordingly. If we walk on the path they have paved and emulate them, the world they dreamt would be realized sooner.         Antigenieity Study of CFA-001,Cefazolin,a Cephalosperin Derivative Produced by an Enzymatic Semisynthesis

        The antigenic potential of CFA-001, cefazolin, a cephalosporin derivative produced by an enzymatic semisynthesis, was determined in Hartley guinea pigs. A battery of tests employed consisted of active systemic anaphylaxis (ASA), passive cutaneous anaphylaxis (PCA), and indirect hemagglutination test (IHA). The results were as follows: 1) In ASA, no signs attributable to anaphylaxis was observed in guinea pigs sensitized with CFA-001, whereas OVA-sensitized animals induced severe anaphylactic symptoms; 2) guinea pigs did not produce antibodies against CFA-001 when sensitized with or without Freund's complete adjuvant (FCA) in homologous PCA tests. Meanwhile, antibodies against ovalbumin (OVA) were clearly detected; 3) No CFA-001-specific hemagglutination was observed in the IHA using sera obtained from CFA-001-sensitized guinea pigs. These results suggest that CFA-001 has no antigenicity potential in guinea pigs.

      • Defect-Engineered Electroforming-Free Analog HfO<sub><i>x</i></sub> Memristor and Its Application to the Neural Network

        <P>The thin-film growth conditions in a plasma-enhanced atomic layer deposition for the (3.0-4.5) nm thick HfO<SUB>2</SUB> film were optimized to use the film as the resistive switching element in a neuromorphic circuit. The film was intended to be used as a feasible synapse with analog-type conductance-tuning capability. The 4.5 nm thick HfO<SUB>2</SUB> films on both conventional TiN and a new RuO<SUB>2</SUB> bottom electrode required the electroforming process for them to operate as a feasible resistive switching memory, which was the primary source of the undesirable characteristics as the synapse. Therefore, electroforming-free performance was necessary, which could be accomplished by thinning the HfO<SUB>2</SUB> film down to 3.0 nm. However, the device with only the RuO<SUB>2</SUB> bottom electrode offered the desired functionality without involving too high leakage or shorting problems, which are due to the recovery of the stoichiometric composition of the HfO<SUB>2</SUB> near the RuO<SUB>2</SUB> layer. In conjunction with the Ta top electrode, which provided the necessary oxygen vacancies to the HfO<SUB>2</SUB> layer, and the high functionality of the RuO<SUB>2</SUB> as the scavenger of excessive incorporated oxygen vacancies, which appeared to be inevitable during the repeated switching operation, the Ta/3.0 nm HfO<SUB>2</SUB>/RuO<SUB>2</SUB> provided a highly useful synaptic device component in the neuromorphic hardware system.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>
