Structure of hercynite prepared with existence of metal Fe

        Junhong Chen,Dongfang Liu,Mingwei Yan, Yong Li,Jindong Su,Bin Li,Jialin Sun 한양대학교 세라믹연구소 2016 Journal of Ceramic Processing Research Vol.17 No.12

In this work, raw materials analytically pure Al2O3 and analytically pure Fe2O3 were mixed in FeO: Al2O3 molar ratio of 1 : 1and pressed into specimens. The specimens were embedded in analytically pure metal Fe powders and fired slowly to 1650 oCin air atmosphere, and then soaked at 1650 oC for 5 hrs. The fired specimens were investigated by XRD, SEM, and EDS. Theresults show that the specimen synthesized at high temperatures in melting Fe is composed of hercynite and wüstite (FenO(n ≤ 1)); FenO disperses in hercynite; hercynite crystals develop well and are mostly perfect octahedron with grain size around50μm. The hercynite has Fe/Al ratio smaller than 1/2, which is non-stoichimetric. With the existence of melting Fe, althoughthe raw materials are theoretically batched according to FeO·Al2O3, FenO is still excess, so the hercynite obtained is Al-rich.

Boosting photocharge separation in Z-schemed g-C3N4/RGO/ln2S3 photocatalyst for H2 evolution and antibiotic degradation

        Bingrong Guo,Bin Liu,Chaoli Wang,Junhong Lu,Yuhua Wang,Shu Yin,Muhammad Sufyan Javed,Wei-Hua Han 한국공업화학회 2022 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.110 No.-

Due to the high redox ability and effective separation of photocharges, Z-schemed photocatalysts havebeen extensively used to deal with energy crises and environmental pollution. Here, a novel Zschemedg-C3N4/RGO/ln2S3 photocatalyst was designed and prepared for hydrogen generation and tetracyclinehydrochloride degradation. The properties of optical absorption, separation, and transfer of photochargesand heterojunction on photocatalytic activity of g-C3N4/RGO/ln2S3 composite have beenstudied. The characterization results showed that the Z-scheme photocatalyst has high efficiency onthe separation and transfer of photocharges, and the strong redox ability has also remained. Thus, theg-C3N4/RGO/ln2S3 composite exhibited superior photocatalytic performance than pristine ln2S3 and g-C3N4 in the same situations. The H2 evolution rate can reach up to 512.72 lmolg-1h1 and the degradationof tetracycline hydrochloride can reach 95.6% in 60 min under visible light irradiation. This work providesa potential pathway for designing and preparing high-performance photocatalysts to produce cleanenergy and purify the environment.

Comparative Evaluation of the Antioxidant Effects of the Natural Vitamin C Analog 2-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-L-ascorbic Acid Isolated from Goji Berry Fruit

        Ziping Zhang,Xiaoming Liu,Xu Zhang,Junhong Liu,Yanfang Hao,Xueyun Yang,Yujiong Wang 대한약학회 2011 Archives of Pharmacal Research Vol.34 No.5

2-O-β-D-Glucopyranosyl-L-ascorbic acid (AA-2βG) is a natural derivative of vitamin C (Lascorbic acid, AA) isolated from Goji berry (Lycium barbarum L.) fruit. We evaluated the antioxidant activities of AA-2βG and AA using in vitro and in vivo model systems. In vitro radical scavenging assays demonstrated that AA-2βG was capable of scavenging 1,1-diphenyl-2-picryl-hydrazyl and hydroxyl peroxide and inhibiting H2O2-induced hemolysis better than AA. AA-2βG and AA had similar hydroxyl radical scavenging capabilities, but AA-2βG was incapable of scavenging superoxide anion radicals, and its capacity to scavenge nitrite (NO_2^−) was lower than that of AA. The overall in vitro reduction capability of AA-2βG was also significantly lower than that of AA. Moreover, in vivo studies demonstrated that AA-2βG was capable of protecting the liver against carbon tetrachloride-induced acute liver injury in mice. These results suggest that AA-2βG is an important antioxidant component of Goji berry fruit, which may share similar but distinct antioxidant mechanistic properties with AA. This study furthers our understanding of the mechanisms of Goji berry fruit pharmacological activities on antiaging and antitumor properties as a traditional medicine and dietary supplement.

Rutin alleviated lipopolysaccharide-induced damage in goat rumen epithelial cells

        Zhan Jinshun,Gu Zhiyong,Wang Haibo,Liu Yuhang,Wu Yanping,Huo Junhong 아세아·태평양축산학회 2024 Animal Bioscience Vol.37 No.2

Objective: Rutin, also called vitamin P, is a flavonoids from plants. Previous studies have indicated that rutin can alleviate the injury of tissues and cells by inhibiting oxidative stress and ameliorating inflammation. There is no report on the protective effects of rutin on goat rumen epithelial cells (GRECs) at present. Hence, we investigated whether rutin can alleviate lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced damage in GRECs. Methods: GRECs were cultured in basal medium or basal medium containing 1 μg/mL LPS, or 1 μg/mL LPS and 20 μg/mL rutin. Six replicates were performed for each group. After 3-h culture, the GRECs were harvested to detect the relevant parameters. Results: Rutin significantly enhanced the cell activity (p<0.05) and transepithelial electrical resistance (TEER) (p<0.01) and significantly reduced the apoptosis rate (p<0.05) of LPSinduced GRECs. Rutin significantly increased superoxide dismutase, glutathione peroxidase, and catalase activity (p<0.01) and significantly decreased lactate dehydrogenase activity and reactive oxygen species and malondialdehyde (MDA) levels in LPS-induced GRECs (p<0.01). The mRNA and protein levels of interleukin 6 (IL-6), IL-1β, and C-X-C motif chemokine ligand 8 (CXCL8) and the mRNA level of tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and chemokine C-C motif ligand 5 (CCL5) were significantly increased in LPS-induced GRECs (p<0.05 or p<0.01), while rutin supplementation significantly decreased the mRNA and protein levels of IL-6, TNF-α, and CXCL8 in LPS-induced GRECs (p<0.05 or p<0.01). The mRNA level of toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2), and the mRNA and protein levels of TLR4 and nuclear factor κB (NF-κB) was significantly improved in LPS-induced GRECs (p<0.05 or p<0.01), whereas rutin supplementation could significantly reduce the mRNA and protein levels of TLR4 (p<0.05 or p<0.01). In addition, rutin had a tendency of decreasing the protein levels of CXCL6, NF-κB, and inhibitor of nuclear factor kappa-B alpha (0.05< p<0.10). Rutin could significantly decreased interferon regulatory factor 3 mRNA expression in LPS-induced GRECs (p<0.05), whereas interferon induced protein with tetratricopeptide repeats 3 (IFIT3) and toll-interacting protein (TOLLIP) mRNA expression was not significantly different between the groups. LPS reduced the tight junction protein zonula occludin 1 (ZO-1) level in GRECs whereas rutin enhanced it. Rutin significantly improved tight junction protein Claudin-1 mRNA expression in LPS-induced GRECs (p<0.01), but could not affect tight junction protein Occludin mRNA expression. Conclusion: Rutin alleviated LPS-induced barrier damage in GRECs by improving oxidation resistance and anti-inflammatory activity, which may be related to TLR/NF-κB signaling pathway inhibition.
