The carob moth, Ectomyelois ceratoniae (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae), is the most important pest of pomegranate orchards (in terms of economic damage) within Iran, and hence, several control procedures, including biological methods of control, have been attempted as a means of controlling populations of this insect. This research was carried out in order to study the biology of Apanteles myeloenta (Hymenoptera: Braconidae), a larval parasitoid of the carob moth. Laboratory studies were conducted to determine larval developmental time, adult longevity, sex ratio, parasite progeny production, and host stage preference of A. myeloenta. At 25±1 °C, immature developmental time (egg to pupa; mean±SE) was 28.33±0.85 days and 27.46±0.37 days for male and females, respectively. Adult females survived on average 17.5±0.14, 11.7±0.22,3.4±0.18, and 2.8±0.12 days at 25 C when provided with honey and water, honey only, water only or no food source, respectively. The sex ratio (females to males) of A. myeloenta was 1:3.5 from hosts parasitized in the first instar, 1:3 for second instars and 1:2 for third instar carob moth larvae. Female A. myeloenta typically preferred to parasitize second instar over third or first instar. The oviposition activity peaked on the 7th and 8th days following emergence, when provided with honey, and 10% sucrose solution, respectively

This paper focuses on vibration analysis of functionally graded cylindrical shell submerged in an incompressible fluid. The equation is established considering axial and lateral hydrostatic pressure based on first order shear deformation theory of shell motion using the wave propagation approach and classic Fl$\ddot{u}$gge shell equations. To study accuracy of the present analysis, a comparison carried out with a known data and the finite element package ABAQUS. With this method the effects of shell parameters, m, n, h/R, L/R, different boundary conditions and different power-law exponent of material of functionally graded cylindrical shells, on the frequencies are investigated. The results obtained from the present approach show good agreement with published results.

Jeha Ryu,Hossein S.Farahani,Bohyun Kim,Sung-Gaun Kim,Nam-Gyun Kim 한국과학기술원 인간친화 복지 로봇 시스템 연구센터 2004 International Journal of Assistive Robotics and Me Vol.5 No.3
This paper presents a new silver robot platform, SpiderBot™. The assistance scenario and conceptual design of the Spider Bot™ for better performance compared to the conventional mobile silver robots are discussed. The conceptual design is addressed considering real residence environment, human friendliness, and user convenience. The design is divided into mechanical parts, control parts, driving parts, sensor parts, and end-effectors. Loading condition and loading scenario for various assistance modes are briefly investigated to meet various requirements for the elderly and the handicapped. The dynamic model of the robot, adaptive control was simulated to verify the feasibility of the SpiderBot™ platform.

Purpose: Metabolic syndrome (MS) is characterized by a collection of interdependent disorders, including abdominal obesity, dyslipidemia, hyperglycemia, hypertension, and diabetes. The current study aimed to estimate the prevalence of MS in Qom, Iran.Materials and Methods: A population-based screening program was conducted in the city of Qom, in 845 urban adult men over 25 years old in 2014. Abdominal obesity, fasting blood glucose (FBG), blood pressure, and the serum lipid profile were measured in subjects after fasting for at least 8 hours. MS was defined according to the Adult Treatment Panel III criteria. Data were analyzed using the chi-square test, t-test, and multiple logistic regression. Results: The overall prevalence of MS was 23.0%, and the most common prevalent metabolic abnormalities associated with MS were low high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (<40 mg/dL) in 34.3% of subjects, a waist circumference >102 cm in 33.9%, blood pressure ≥130/85 mmHg in 27.6%, fasting triglycerides (TG) ≥150 mg/dL in 25%, and FBG ≥110 mg/dL in 20.6%. A FBG level ≥110 mg/dL (odds ratio [OR]=4.85; 95% confidence interval [CI], 2.14∼8.24), dyslipidemia (OR=3.51; 95% CI, 2.10∼5.89), and a fasting TG ≥150 mg/dL were the most important factors contributing to MS. Conclusions: The prevalence of MS in men in Qom was higher than has been reported in other countries, but it was lower than the mean values that have been reported elsewhere in Iran. FBG was the most important factor contributing to MS, and all elements of the lipid profile showed important associations with MS.
An Efficient 5-Input Exclusive-OR Circuit Based on Carbon Nanotube FETs

The integration of digital circuits has a tight relationwith the scaling down of silicon technology. Thecontinuous scaling down of the feature size of CMOSdevices enters the nanoscale, which results in suchdestructive effects as short channel effects. Consequently, efforts to replace silicon technology with efficientsubstitutes have been made. The carbon nanotube fieldeffecttransistor (CNTFET) is one of the most promisingreplacements for this purpose because of its essentialcharacteristics. Various digital CNTFET-based circuits, such as standard logic cells, have been designed and theresults demonstrate improvements in the delay andenergy consumption of these circuits. In this paper, a newCNTFET-based 5-input XOR gate based on a noveldesign method is proposed and simulated using theHSPICE tool based on the compact SPICE model for theCNTFET at the 32-nm technology node. The proposedmethod leads to improvements in performance and devicecount compared to the conventional CMOS-style design.

Purpose: With regard to the protective effect of vitamin D against colorectal cancer (CRC), we evaluated genetic variants that might influence vitamin D metabolism: vitamin D receptor (VDR), vitamin D binding protein (GC), vitamin D 25-hydroxylase (CYP2R1), and vitamin D 25-hydroxy 1-alpha hydroxylase (CYP27B1). Materials and Methods: A total of 657 subjects, including 303 cases with CRC and 354 controls were enrolled in this case-control study. All 657 were genotyped for the four gene variants using PCR-RFLP methods. Results: In this study, no significant difference was observed for VDR (rs2238136), GC (rs4588), CYP2R1 (rs12794714), and CYP27B1 (rs3782130) gene variants in either genotype or allele frequencies between the cases with CRC and the controls and this lack of difference remained even after adjustment for age, BMI, sex, smoking status, NSAID use, and family history of CRC. Furthermore, no evidence for effect modification of the variants and CRC by BMI, sex, or tumor site was observed. Conclusions: Our findings do not support a role for VDR, GC, and CYP27B1 genes in CRC risk in our Iranian population. Another interesting finding, which to our knowledge has not been reported previously, was the lack of association with the CYP2R1 gene polymorphism. Nonetheless, our findings require confirmation and possible roles of vitamin D metabolism-related genes in carcinogenesis need to be further investigated.
