Callosobruchus chinensis (Coleoptera: Bruchidae) is the main pest of mungbean (Vigna radiata) especially during seed storage. To provide background information for chemical ecology studies, we examined the externalmorphology of the antennal, maxillary palp and labial palp sensilla of this insect with scanning electron microscopy. The antennae of adult C. chinensis exhibited sexual dimorphism. The female have serrated antenna and the male have pectinate morphology. Eight sensillum types have been observed on the antennae of both sexes: Böhm bristles, sensilla chaetica, sensilla trichodea, sensilla basiconica, sensilla styloconicum, sensilla coeloconica, sensillum campaniformia, sensilla cavity. There are no differences on the morphology of maxillary palp and labial palp between female and male. Four different types of sensilla are present on the labial and maxillary palps of both sexes of C. chinensis: sensilla chaetica, sensilla twig basiconica, sensilla basiconica, sensilla digitiformia.
Study on tool wear for efficient grooving blisk with disc milling cutter
Qingsi Cheng,Song Wang,Hongmin Xin,Jian Zhang,Changfeng Yao,Minchao Cui,Guangping Li 대한기계학회 2023 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.37 No.10
Tool wear has an important influence on machining quality, cost, cutting force and heat. Grooving blisk with disc milling cutter is 3-4 times more efficient than plunge milling and side milling, but the tool wear is serious because of the large milling force and high milling temperature during the machining process. In the study, the damage and wear morphology of the tool was observed by focused ion/double beam system; the wear mechanism was studied by energy spectrum analysis; the tool life curve was drawn by the increase of flank wear. The experimental results show that the main wear and damage morphologies of disc milling cutter are chip sticking to the tool, chip accumulation, edge collapse, peeling, crack, plastic deformation and boundary wear; the main wear mechanism are abrasive wear, adhesive wear, oxidation wear and diffusion wear; the wear rate of the left blade is the fastest, followed by the right blade, and the wear rate of the middle blade is the slowest. These results can provide guidance for iimproving tool life, optimizing tool and mproving machining processes.
A Low-Cost Nano/Micro Structured-Silicon-MWCNTs from Nano-Silica for Lithium Storage
Xuejiao Feng,Tengda Ding,Hongmin Cui,Nanfu Yan,Fei Wang 성균관대학교(자연과학캠퍼스) 성균나노과학기술원 2016 NANO Vol.11 No.3
Despite the fact that silicon material can be synthesized from various sources, deriving them from silica resources is of strategic significance for the industrial processing. Here a low-cost nano/ micro structure of Si–CNT was derived from nano-SiO2 and multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) with simple methods. By employing table salt (NaCl) as a heat scavenger for the magnesiothermic reduction, the nano/micro structure of the material was remained effective. Comparing to ball milling, a combination of SiO2, MWCNTs and NaCl by spray drying achieved the long cycle life for Si–CNT composite. This material presented a stable capacity above 968.1 mAh g-1 with excellent capacity retention of 85.4% at the 150th cycle versus the 2nd one. The Si nanoparticles, very small particle size in 10–20 nm, homogenously dispersed in electronically conductive network of MWCNTS, which accommodate the volume change of Si and reinforce highly conductivity of the Si–CNT composite during repeated cycles. Combined with its low-cost and up-scaling technologies, Si–CNT composite is a promising anode material in rechargeable lithium batteries with high electrochemical performance.
An International Freshman Exchange Program: A Trial for Engineering Design Education
Webeck, Elizabeth,Imamura, Fumihiko,Wang, Fuming,Zhu, Hongmin,Nagasaka, Tetsuya Korean Society for Engineering Education 2012 공학교육연구 Vol.15 No.4
The Engineering school of Tohoku University has been offering a Team-based Engineering Design Course to its first year students since 1996 in order to increase the level of both motivation and interest in engineering. Freshmen are required to select one of approximately 150 topics and do some research on this topic. This course also provides opportunities for students to participate in exchange programs with the University of Washington (UW) and the University of Science and Technology Beijing (USTB). In the Tohoku-UW exchange program, which began in 1999, between 10 and 25 students of Tohoku visit the UW annually to present the results of the subjects the school has appointed in advance in the Team-based Engineering Design Course. In the Tohoku-USTB exchange program, which began in 2007, about 15 students from each university participate in a one day meeting organized by the students themselves. They give a presentation on either the results of the subject they selected in the course, or on an engineering related topic both groups have agreed to in advance. In this paper, a detailed history, the objectives, a schedule and the budget in these unique exchange programs is introduced together with an outline of the course and its contribution to the engineering design education.

Background: This study introduces an approach to ultrasound guided acupotomy for fo- raminal stenosis, for enhanced precision. Methods: Anatomical and vascular considerations of spine were explored to identify suit- able candidates based on foramen width and type of stenosis. The procedure involved ultrasound-guided acupotomy needling in the posterior superior and posterior inferior quarters, with safety measures. Results: Precise acupotomy needling in identified quarters proved effective, with careful attention to safety measures minimizing adverse events. Ultrasound guidance significantly enhanced accuracy throughout the procedure. Conclusion: This research advocates for the adoption of ultrasound-guided acupotomy in foraminal stenosis cases. By integrating anatomical insights, vascular considerations, and advanced imaging techniques, this approach offers a safe and effective alternative in the management of spinal stenosis, paving the way for further exploration in non-surgical in- terventions.
Thermal Field Balance and Efficiency Analysis of Plate Type Electromagnetic Induction Heating
Ping Xue,Hao Sun,Bing Li,Hongmin Wang 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Multimedia and Ubiquitous Vol.11 No.2
Owing to flat plate induction heating can’t guarantee to heat equally, especially the existence of no heated zone, it haven’t been used in these industrial fields like SMD which require high accuracy and easy to control while heating. But some places need its characteristic of contact heating, eco-friendly and high efficiency, for this reason, it is fundamental to research the heating style further as well as the no heating zone. Because induction heating is based on eddy current, firstly, the relationship between eddy current and induction heating is explained and several factors which would influence the eddy current are put forward. Then finite element analysis and calculation of eddy current field is mainly done. At last, the conclusion is obtained by analyzing the results of calculation. Due to the analysis above, after improving the structure of the iron plate, the problem of no heating zone is solved. At the same time, the efficiency evaluation is brought out. It can make the following research more easily.
