A Study on Risk Evaluation of Crime in the Seoul Metropolitan Area based on Poisson Regression Model
Kim, Hag-Yeol,Yu, Hye-Kyung,Park, Man-Sik,Heo, Tae-Young 한국통계학회 2012 응용통계연구 Vol.25 No.5
In this study, we identify the variables that affect the number of crime and spatial correlation in the Seoul metropolitan area, in addition, we measure the relative risk on the incidence of crime by a Poisson regression model. We suggest a statistical methodology to make a risk map for crime based on relative risk instead of the total event of crime by region using the Geographic Information System. To demonstrate the use and advantages of this methodology, this study presents an analyses of the total crime count in 25 wards in the Seoul metropolitan area.

This study analyzes hourly measurements of 27 air quality monitoring stations (AQMS) during 3 months (May~July) in 2000 and 2005, to propose an approach to determining the division of ambient ozone quality basins (AOQB) in Seoul Metropolitan Area by employing the following two methods: (1) the Bonferroni multiple comparison method for identifying differences among the population means of AQMS within each ozone warning zone (OWZ); (2) Markov Chain model for assessing the viability of constructing a pooled transition probability matrix over AQMS within an OWZ. The space-homogeneity of the chain is tested whether or not transition probabilities vary across regions (or AQMS) within an OWZ by the goodness of fit test. The results imply that (1) the current OWZ is not appropriate for AOQB in normal situations because of inequality between population means and non-homogeneity of the pooled Markov Chain across stations; (2) the methods involved in this paper can be a good way to delineate the division of AOQB. If successful AOQB is decided, it is highly effective to implement the ozone warning program and ozone management projects on homogeneous ozone regions.

Heat and fluid flow in the motor block room of a motorized car is numerically simulated. The motorized car, composed of a motor block room and a passenger room, supplies additional power "to achieve the design speed. A motor block, a transformer, and a fan are equipped in the motor block room. Flow phenomena in the ducts on the motor block and power transformer are investigated. Also, the three dimensional heat and fluid flow in the motor block room is simulated to give a qualitative information of the flow characteristics.
