Purpose - Based on the extended theory of planned behavior (TPB), this study aims to investigate the antecedents of online purchase behavior toward organic cosmetics for Generation Z (Gen Z) and Millennials by focusing on the impact of subjective norms, health consciousness, trust, attitude, and intention. Design/Methodology/Approach - A survey method using an online questionnaire was adopted to collect data from 341 Gen Z and Millennial consumers in Vietnam. The collected data were then analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM). Findings - The results of the study showed that, among antecedents, that attitude has the strongest impact on the purchase intention of online customers toward organic cosmetics, followed by trust and subjective norms. Interestingly, health consciousness has also been found to significantly impact Gen Z and Millennial online purchase intention toward organic cosmetics. Research Implications - This paper extends the academic literature on purchase intention toward green products. More importantly, to the best of the authors’ knowledge, this study is among the first to examine the antecedents of online purchase intention toward the organic cosmetics of Gen Z and Millennials in an emerging economy, Vietnam. The findings offer important implications for cosmetics companies, retailers, and other stakeholders to have deeper insights into factors influencing young Vietnamese consumer intentions toward purchasing organic beauty products online.
Adhesion strength characterization for different frame materials of handheld products
Ngoc San Ha,Thanh Duc Dao,구남서,곽재복,정순완 대한기계학회 2017 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.31 No.10
In this study, the adhesion strength for different frame materials of handheld products was investigated. To characterize the adhesive strength, a simple model of a cellphone that consists of a glass window attached to body frame using double-sided tape was designed and fabricated. The adhesion strength with different pull out speeds and aging times was measured using a conventional pull out testing method. To investigate the detailed delamination process of the adhesive layer, the digital image correlation technique was applied. Moreover, in recent years, the trend of using metal for a body frame of a cellphone has gradually increased due to the fashion of metal frames. Therefore, two materials for body frames were considered for testing in this study: aluminum was the representative metal and polycarbonate was the representative conventional material. The results showed that the strain at the interface between the adhesive layer and body frame is higher than that at the interface between adhesive layer and glass window for both cases of aluminum and polycarbonate frames. Moreover, the fracture energy in the aluminum body frame is higher than that in the polycarbonate body frame. In order to validate the experimental results, the cohesive elements in ABAQUS TM were used for the modeling bonding layer. The results showed a good agreement between simulation and experiment.

Soluble epoxide hydrolases (sEH) are enzymes present in all living organisms, metabolize epoxy fatty acids to 1,2-diols. sEH in the metabolism of polyunsaturated fatty acids plays a key role in inflammation. In addition, the endogenous lipid mediators in cardiovascular disease are also broken down to diols by the action of sEH that enhanced cardiovascular protection. In this study, sEH inhibitory guided fractionation led to the isolation of five phenolic compounds trans-resveratrol (1), trans-piceatannol (2), sulfuretin (3), (+)-balanophonin (4), and cassigarol E (5) from the ethanol extract of the seeds of Passiflora edulis Sims cultivated in Vietnam. The chemical structures of isolated compounds were determined by the interpretation of NMR spectral data, mass spectra, and comparison with data from the literature. The soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH) inhibitory activity of isolated compounds was evaluated. Among them, trans-piceatannol (2) showed the most potent inhibitory activity on sEH with an IC50 value of 3.4 mM. This study marks the first time that sulfuretin (3) was isolated from Passiflora edulis as well as (+)-balanophonin (4), and cassigarol E (5) were isolated from Passiflora genus.

Guided by a resource-based theory, this study is the first one that takes a quantitative approach to identify determinants of competitiveness of women-owned small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Vietnam. The study employs time series data of Vietnamese SMEs extracted from the Vietnam Small and Medium Enterprises Survey conducted biennially from 2005 to 2015 in ten Vietnamese provinces. Firm competitiveness hereby is indicated by revenue, market share, profitability, and export volume. The research reveals a number of determining factors, of all, research and development, labor skills, business environment, technology investment are the most important factors, followed by capital and headcount. It is indicated that the determining factors have different influences on competitiveness obtained by different measurements. Therefore, it is based on specific targets and situations to make wise business decisions. The authors also make comparisons among groups of women-owned enterprises divided by their firm age, location, ownership, export, age, and educational background of business owners. The findings serve as critical empirical evidence and provide policy recommendations for improving the competitiveness of women-owned SMEs in Vietnam. The recommendations range from technology support, education and professional support for female entrepreneurs, access to capital and human resources to business environment improvement.
