Abstract

In this paper, we describe two distributed, data intensive applications that were demonstrated at iGrid 2005 (iGrid Demonstration US109 and iGrid Demonstration US121). One involves transporting astronomical data from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) and the other involves computing histograms from multiple high-volume data streams. Both rely on newly developed data transport and data mining middleware. Specifically, we describe a new version of the UDT network protocol called Composible-UDT, a file transfer utility based upon UDT called UDT-Gateway, and an application for building histograms on high-volume data flows called BESH (for Best Effort Streaming Histogram). For both demonstrations, we include a summary of the experimental studies performed at iGrid 2005.

The Employment and Wage Effects of Import Competition in the United States
Grossman, Gene M. 세종대학교 국제경제연구소 1987 Journal of Economic Integration Vol.2 No.1
A new methodology is developed to determine the extent to which imports have been responsible for labor displacements and wage movements in specific, allegedly trade-impacted sectors. The procedure involves the estimation of reduced-form wage and employment equations by sector. The proposed methodology is applied to nine manufacturing sectors in the United States. Counterfactual simulations are performed under the hypothetical assumption of no intensification or abatement of import competition from 1967-1979. The simulations show that imports have been responsible for the loss of a large number of jobs in only one industry, and for a significant loss in wages in two industries, among the nine studied.

Subsolidus phase relations in the Tl2MoO4-Ho2(MoO4)3-Zr(MoO4)2 system have been studied by X-ray diffraction anddifferential thermal analysis methods. The system has been shown to contain molybdates with the compositionsTl5HoZr(MoO4)6 (5 : 1 : 2) and Tl2HoZr2(MoO4)6.5 (2 : 1 : 4). A new ternary molybdate TlHoZr0.5(MoO4)3 was discovered bythe method of spontaneous solution-melt crystallization through spontaneous nucleation, and its crystal structure has beendetermined to be: sp. gr. R 3, a = b = 13.3665(2) Å, c = 11.9844(4) Å, V = 1854.31(7) Å3, Z = 6. The mixed three dimensionalframework of the crystal structure is composed of Mo tetrahedra sharing O vertices with (Ho,Zr)O6 octahedra. The thalliumatoms occupy wide channels in the framework. Crystals of binary molybdate of Ho2Zr2(MoO4)7 composition were grown bysolution-melt crystallization and their crystal structure were determined to be: sp. gr. С2/c, a = 20.6668(4), b = 9.8193(2), c =13.8187(3) Å, b = 113.678(1)о, .V = 2568.20(9)Å3, Z = 4. The crystal structure is composed of three types of polyhedra: МоО4tetrahedra, ZrO6 octahedra, and eight-vertex HoO8.
