• Effects of the NQO1 609C>T Polymorphism on Leukemia Susceptibility: Evidence from a Meta-analysis

Han, Fei-Fei,Guo, Chang-Long,Gong, Li-Li,Jin, Zhu,Liu, Li-Hong Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2013 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.14 No.9

A functional polymorphism in the NQO1 gene, featuring a 609C>T substitution, leading to proline to serine amino-acid and enzyme activity changes, has been implicated in cancer risk. However, individually published investigations showed inconclusive results, especially for leukemia. In this study, we therefore performed a meta-analysis of 21 publications with a total of 3,634 cases and 4,827controls, mainly for leukemia. We summarized the data on the association between the NQO1 609C>T polymorphism and risk of leukemia and performed subgroup analyses by ethnicity and leukemia type. We found that the variant TT homozygous genotype o was associated with a modestly increased risk of leukemia (TT versus CT/CC: OR=1.23, 95%CI=1.00-1.51, heterogeneity=0.76; $I^2$=0%). Following further stratified analyses, increased risk was only observed in subgroups of Caucasians. This meta-analysis suggests that the NQO1 609T allele is a high-penetrance risk factor for leukemia in Caucasians. The effect on leukemia may be modified by ethnicity and leukemia type, and the small sample sizes of the subgroup analyses suggest that further larger studies are needed.

Enhanced Salt Tolerance of Transgenic Vegetable Soybeans Resulting from Overexpression of a Novel Δ1-Pyrroline-5-carboxylate Synthetase Gene from Solanum torvum Swartz

        Gong-Chen Zhang,Wen-Li Zhu,Jun-Yi Gai,Yue-Lin Zhu,Li-Fei Yang 한국원예학회 2015 Horticulture, Environment, and Biotechnology Vol.56 No.1

Vegetable soybeans [Glycine max (L.) Merrill] are susceptible to salt stress and, thus, soil salinity can severely affect their growth and productivity. To enhance the salt tolerance of vegetable soybeans, a novel Solanum torvum Swartz Δ1-pyrroline-5-carboxylate synthetase gene (StP5CS, GenBank accession number: JN606861) that encodes a critical regulatory enzyme in proline biosynthesis was transformed into the cultivar NY-1001 using an Agrobacteriummediated transformation method. PCR and Southern blot analyses indicated that two independent T0 fertile transgenic plants were generated. The transgenic plants transmitted the transgenes into their T1 progeny in a 3:1 ratio. The T2 and T3 homozygous transgenic lines (HTLs) were examined for salt tolerance in pot and hydroponic cultures, respectively. The StP5CS overexpression conferred salt tolerance in T2 and T3 HTLs. Under NaCl stress conditions, the leaf scorch scores of T2 and T3 HTLs were significantly lower than those of wild-type (WT) plants. The plant height, leaf area, relative chlorophyll content, and number of fresh pods of T2 and T3 HTLs were significantly higher than those of WT plants. Compared with WT plants, T2 and T3 HTLs had significantly higher levels of proline and significantly lower levels of membrane lipid peroxidation. These results indicate that StP5CS overexpression in HTLs results in enhanced salt tolerance associated with higher levels of proline accumulation under salinity stress and that StP5CS can be utilized to improve salinity tolerance in vegetable crop genetic engineering.

Vertical Vibration of Strip Mill with the Piecewise Nonlinear Constraint arising from Hydraulic Cylinder

Fei Liu,Bin Liu,Hao-ran Liu,Yan-ling Gong,Song-jun Wang 한국정밀공학회 2015 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol. No.

Vertical vibration model of strip mill is established by considering piecewise nonlinear constraint arising from hydraulic cylinder. The approximate analytical solution of the model is obtained by incremental harmonic balance (IHB) method. The harmonic frequencies not conducive to stability are produced because the nonlinearity of the piecewise constraint. Bifurcation behavior of the system changes with external excitation amplitude and frequency ratio, intermittent chaos and periodic window are appeared alternately, the chaos region enlarged with the increasing piecewise interval. Compared with the piecewise linear constraint, the region of chaotic motion is widened obviously under the nonlinear constraint. Moreover, the critical condition of bifurcation and chaos behavior can be obtained from maximum Lyapunov exponent (MLE).

Early Plasma Circulating Tumor DNA as a Potential Biomarker of Disease Recurrence in Non-metastatic Prostate Cancer

        Xiaochen Fei,Xinxing Du,Yiming Gong,Jiazhou Liu,Liancheng Fan,Jiayi Wang,Yanqing Wang,Yinjie Zhu,Jiahua Pan,Baijun Dong,Wei Xue 대한암학회 2023 Cancer Research and Treatment Vol.55 No.3

Purpose In non-metastatic prostate cancer (nmPCa) setting, it is important to early identify the patients at risk of biochemical recurrence (BCR) for immediate postoperative intervention. Our study aimed to evaluate the potential clinical utility of circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) for predicting disease recurrence.Materials and Methods This real-world observational study evaluated 161 cases of nmPCa undergoing next-generation sequencing at our institution. A total of 139 ctDNA samples and 31 biopsied tumor tissue underwent genomic profiling. The study endpoint was BCR after radical prostatectomy. Relationships between the ctDNA status and the biochemical progression-free survival (bPFS) were analyzed by log-rank test and multivariate Cox regression. Results Of 161 enrolled patients, 19 (11.8%) harbored deleterious alterations in NCOR2, followed by BRCA2 (3.7%), ATR (2.5%), and CDK12 (2.5%). Of available pre-operative blood samples (n=139), ctDNA was detectable in 91 (65.5%). Until last follow-up, 56 of 68 patients (85.3%) with detectable ctDNA had achieved BCR, whereas only eight of 39 patients (20.5%) with undetectable ctDNA had achieved BCR. Patients who had undetectable ctDNA experienced significantly longer bPFS compared with those who had detectable ctDNA (not available vs. 8.2 months; hazard ratio, 0.14; p < 0.01). Pre-operative ctDNA status was a significant prognostic factor of disease recurrence. Conclusion Pre-operative ctDNA detection could identify patients at high risk of recurrence and has the potential to inform immediate postoperative interventions, but these approaches remain to be validated in prospective studies. ctDNA studies can provide insights into accurate monitoring and precise treatment rather than simply following routine clinical care.

LCL APF based on fractional-order fast repetitive control strategy

Pan, Guobing,Gong, Fei,Jin, Libing,Wu, Hao,Chen, Sihan The Korean Institute of Power Electronics 2021 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.21 No.10

The LCL type active power filter (APF) with a traditional repetitive controller has drawbacks in terms of poor dynamic performance, large steady-state error, and difficult digital implementation. A fast repetitive control (RC) algorithm was proposed in this paper in an effort to improve the APF dynamic performance without worsening its stability. To eliminate the non-integer delay of the traditional RC, a fractional-order RC algorithm based on the Lagrangian Interpolation was developed. The proposed fast fractional-order RC (FFORC) strategy only needs 1/6 delay time when compared to the traditional RC. In addition, it can track the error signal quickly and obtain a higher steady-state accuracy. Furthermore, the double current loops control method with grid side current and inverter side current feedback is proposed to achieve active damping of the resonance peak of the LCL filter, which ensures that the APF system is stable. Simulation and experimental results are presented to verify the performance of the dynamic response and steady-state accuracy of the proposed FFORC strategy.

MICROWAVE-ASSISTED SYNTHESIS AND CATALYTIC PERFORMANCE OF HIERARCHICAL Cu2O NANOSTRUCTURES

        XUE-YUN GONG,YU-PENG GAO,LI-BO WANG,PENG-FEI GUO 성균관대학교(자연과학캠퍼스) 성균나노과학기술원 2013 NANO Vol.8 No.5

Hierarchical Cu2O nanostructures have been successfully fabricated on a large scale using copper acetate and glucose as starting reactants, CTAB as an additive via a microwave-assisted process. The influences of CTAB dosage and reaction time on the morphology of the products were investigated. The resulting Cu2O nanostructures were characterized by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD) and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM). FESEM images show that the Cu2O nanostructures are microsphere, which are composed of nanoparticles. The concentration of CTAB plays a key role in the growth of Cu2O nanostructures under experimental conditions. The possible formation mechanism of these hierarchical Cu2O nanostructures has been proposed. Meanwhile, the catalytic performances of these Cu2O microspheres for thermal decomposition of ammonium perchlorate (AP) were investigated using DSC. The results revealed that Cu2O have a great influence on the thermal decomposition of AP. The additions of Cu2O powders lower the high decomposition temperature of AP.

      • Down-regulation of miRNA-452 is Associated with Adriamycin-resistance in Breast Cancer Cells

        Hu, Qing,Gong, Jian-Ping,Li, Jian,Zhong, Shan-Liang,Chen, Wei-Xian,Zhang, Jun-Ying,Ma, Teng-Fei,Ji, Hao,Lv, Meng-Meng,Zhao, Jian-Hua,Tang, Jin-Hai Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.13

Adriamycin (ADR) is an important chemotherapeutic agent frequently used in treatment of breast cancer. However, resistance to ADR results in treatment failure in many patients. Recent studies have indicated that microRNAs (miRNAs) may play an important role in such drug-resistance. In the present study, microRNA-452 (miR-452) was found to be significantly down-regulated in adriamycin-resistant MCF-7 cells (MCF-7/ADR) compared with the parental MCF-7 cells by miRNA microarray and real-time quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR). MiR-452 mimics and inhibitors partially changed the adriamycin-resistance of breast cancer cells, as also confirmed by apoptosis assay. In exploring the potential mechanisms of miR-452 in the adriamycin-resistance of breast cancer cells, bioinformatics analysis, RT-qPCR and Western blotting showed that dysregulation of miR-452 played an important role in the acquired adriamycin-resistance of breast cancer, maybe at least in part via targeting insulin-like growth factor-1 receptor (IGF-1R).

Effect of Graphene/TiO2 (001) Interface on Threshold Voltage and Nonlinearity

        Yuehua Dai,Shanshan Gong,Zhisheng Zhong,Fengyu Gao,Feifei Wang,Cheng Ding,Jin Yang,Fei Yang 성균관대학교(자연과학캠퍼스) 성균나노과학기술원 2018 NANO Vol.13 No.6

In this work, the threshold voltage (Vth) and nonlinearity (NL) of Graphene (Gra)/TiO2/Gra heterojunction were studied. First, the density functional tight binding (DFTB+) and much more dynamics were used to investigate the IV curves and the resistive switching properties of TiO2 slab and Gra/TiO2/Gra heterojunction. The NL of Gra/TiO2/Gra heterojunction is stronger than that of the TiO2 slab. The Vth of the resistive transition of the heterojunction is larger than that of the TiO2 slab. The tunneling probabilities and the Mulliken atomic population at the Gra/TiO2 interface under different electric fields were calculated by the Cambridge sequential total energy package (CASTEP). Results showed that both the parameters evidently increased under a certain numerical electric field. Finally, the movement of atom in the electric field and the change in the chemical bond were simulated by DFTB+ module. The effect of the Gra/TiO2 interface on Vth and NL was further illustrated. Postponed Vth and improved NL were found at the heterojunction relative to the TiO2 slab due to the presence of the interface barrier. This work provides guidance and reference for design and optimization of TiO2-based selectors.

Comparison of junction temperature variations of IGBT modules under DC and PWM power cycling test conditions

An, Tong,Tian, Yanzhong,Qin, Fei,Dai, Yanwei,Gong, Yanpeng,Chen, Pei The Korean Institute of Power Electronics 2022 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.22 No.9

This paper presents an experimental investigation and a finite element (FE) analysis study on the thermal and mechanical behaviors of insulated-gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) power modules under various operating conditions. The power cycling test conditions are provided by two test benches, a direct current (DC) test bench and a pulse width modulation (PWM) test bench. Infrared (IR) camera acquisition methods are suggested as an approach for transient temperature measurements to estimate the effects of operating conditions and switching frequency on the thermal performance of an IGBT module. An electrical-thermal-mechanical FE model of an IGBT module is employed to determine the stress in the interconnections of an IGBT module induced by junction temperature fluctuations. Results indicate that the operating conditions significantly impact the maximum junction temperature, the junction temperature increase rate, and the junction temperature distribution of an IGBT chip and the thermally induced stress in the interconnections. The switching frequency strongly impacts the junction temperature of an IGBT chip, and the maximum junction temperature increases when the switching frequency increases due to the increasing switching loss. Furthermore, the junction temperature variation induced by the instantaneous switching loss is estimated by the proposed IR camera measurement method.

Anticancer, Antioxidant, and Antimicrobial Activities of Anemone (Anemone cathayensis)

        Jun-li Wang,Kun Liu,Wei-zhen Gong,Qian Wang,Dong-ting Xu,Ming-fei Liu,Kai-li Bi,Yun-fei Song 한국식품과학회 2012 Food Science and Biotechnology Vol.21 No.2

This study was performed to evaluate the anticancer, antioxidant, and antimicrobial activities of fractions and isolated compounds from anemone (Anemone cathayensis). Fourteen compounds were isolated from extracts. Anticancer activities of fractions and compounds were determined by MTT assay, and all tested fractions showed inhibition activity on human breast cancer cells (MDA-MB-231). The fraction 6 displayed the strongest anticancer activity, and inhibition percent was 50.32%. The antioxidant effect of fractions was evaluated by using DPPH scavenging assays. Fraction 5 had a higher DPPH radical scavenging activity with low IC50 value of 30.578μg/mL. The antimicrobial activity of the fractions was evaluated against 3 microorganisms using the agar well diffusion method. The fractions also showed moderate antimicrobial activity. These results suggest that anemone could hold a good potential source for human health.
